That plea deal was for the sole purpose of getting that line.
Where does it say that Trump said to use campaign funds and defraud the FEC? It doesn't. It does say that Trump reimbursed him out of pocket. Trump spent his own money to pay for an event that occurred outside of the campaign. That's not an FEC violation. That's a common NDA.
As for influence the election part, they have to prove that the payment only existed but for the campaign. That this issue was specifically related to the campaign. They have to prove Trump wouldn't have paid her off in '15 but only did so in '16 because of the campaign.
You know how hard that is to prove, especially considering there are multiple instances of precedent. Trump has done this exact thing, multiple times, throughout his life while he was never involved in a campaign. So good luck is all I can say.
