1) The potential succession of CA from the US is still the most under-discussed issue that I can see. I actually think that our sympathies (well, SOME sympathies anyway) are being prepped and guided a bit with the Catalonia / Spain succession right now.

This is why i don't do flu shots

Last 2 flu shots I've had made me sick as a damned dog. One of those times, I seriously thought I was going to die, the reaction was so bad and it was damn near instant. I was sick before I even got home. Both instances lasted about 2 days.

I'd rather have the actual flu for a week than suffer the reaction.

it's not that I believe they're useless

but they DAMN SURE aren't silver bullets

for example -- your body on average will take up to 2 weeks after the shot to build up antigens against the 2 strains of influenza A (and usually 1 strain of B-flu as well)

Soon -- if you're exposed to those strains (or another one) during that 'incubations' period

you're still susceptible to getting the flu -- even for the strains you were innoculed against

Then there's the breakthroughs where they no longer grow all the LAV / Vaccines in eggs

Army worms turned out to be a big ally of the drug companies in turning out more vaccines with less 'allergic to eggs' issues

higher prevalence of GBS / nerve damage in some areas though

Not to mention much higher inventories that are now just --- cash sitting around

Man, my wife is forced to do AT LEAST X number of flu shot clinics every season for the company she works for. As a matter of fact, this was her "easy" week in her schedule with 4 days off and she was in Owensboro all 4 of those ****ing days doing a GD flu clinic. Sorry, it just really pisses me off. They actually teach them these facts about flu shots and, subsequently, a large majority of those forced to administer those flu shots completely disagreed and refused to give them. So, the company mandated it. You either do the clinics they assign you, or you can work elsewhere. They are now trying to force the pharmacists to get the shot as a show of solidarity and to ease customer concerns. I shit thee not. It's ****ing nuts.

My point being, the person givinh you those shots is 100% aware of their danger... they just have no choice in the matter b/c pharmacies, especially, are making GD killing off of these shots.

I left CDC in 2011 - I'm not an epidemiologist and won't pass myself off as one
But I worked with them for almost 10 years and learned many things about how that agency operates

So -- the flu vaccines started coming (not sure what %) from Army Worms as opposed to chicken eggs in the mid 2000's I Think
