I am chewing on what you said, no need for the hostility.

The news that I have seen, both domestic and foreign, show that crime across the board is going down. Crime and your perception of it is very personal and anecdotal. Hard to change a person's opinion on that when they are firmly grounded.

And the point with immigrants, Trump won. I say let him do what he thinks he needs to do and we'll see what happens. I won't comment on things that have not happened yet.

Most importantly, it's not relevant. Crime being "down," if it's even indeed down, is not relevant to the fact that illegal immigration brings with it more crime, some of it very severe.

So if all you do to your Dad is bring in irrelevant points to rebut his "anecdotal" evidence, then it's you who's disabling genuine discourse, not nis tirades.

The problem about DOGE is that we already have something that is supposed to reduce excessive spending, THE GAO. Why not just appoint them to this?
The short answer: RESULTS

The long version:

1) History of ineffectiveness. Congress has basically ignored GAO’s recommendations. GAO now has 3000+ employees & 15+ departments which have generated miles & miles of mostly unread or otherwise ignored reports with zero significant change to show for it

2) Optics & Action. DOGE is Trump’s creation and he has the power of the election mandate behind him. The idea is that the later will spur action

3) Trust. Trump has learned an important lesson from his first term: Don’t trust the establishment. I would say he knows 100% without a doubt that the GAO is about as “independent” and “nonpartisan” as you are

4) Ground up. Simply put…why appoint Elon & Vivek to an existing bloated, bureaucratic, ineffective agency? Much smarter to just let them start from scratch & run things efficiently & effectively from the ground up like they have done with everything else in their professional lives. The objective is results not status quo

5) No doubt their DOGE team will read all of those reports from GAO. My guess is that they already have. Probably the ONLY people that have read them all cover to cover. I know Congress hasn’t read them in their entirety

6) One of the DOGE team’s key roles will be to filter through those stacks of unread GAO reports, mine out the most important stuff, prioritize it, then present it in condensed form to Congress in a very public way that will most assuredly spark action…which leads us to…

7) Transparency. This may be the most important catalyst for actual change of them all. GAO can’t or won’t (doesn’t matter which) be as transparent as DOGE will be. This is the part that will hold Congress’ feet to the fire

8) Coffee is for closers. ABC.

That's fine. I'll continue to view the world with my rosy tinted glasses. Do you think returning the Fairness Doctrine would be beneficial to America?
hahahahaha Thanks for outing yourself, Mr. Totalitarian.

The Fairness Doctrine is what every lefty DREAMS of: Enabling the government to SILENCE any conservative voice by fiat.

Thank God for Mark Fowler and Ronald Reagan.

You must think we're all stupid.

What are you doing? You've brought up crime, Fairness Doctrine, and illegals in one day. The old spaghetti-against-the-wall technique.

You really think re-litigating an old argument that goes back to the 80s is something people here are going to glom on to? What the hell is wrong with you?

The point about illegal aliens YOU made was they were a net positive. You even linked a study to prove your point when the first line of the study said the complete opposite. Yet you simply can’t admit it.

Your second paragraph has zero to do with your original assertion and your first paragraph is pure government-backed media propaganda you have fallen for.

We have posted numerous links as to why you fell for it.

You're giving him waaaaaay too much time.

The simplest response is, "Oh yes the GAO, they're doing such a good job so far, clearly. $36T in debt." \

Trump was hired to BURN IT ALL DOWN.

There's no argument for them to be a net positive for America.

They are a net positive to Democrats and certain industries; that's it.

Call me naive, but I just have faith in certain institutions. Seems like bringing back the fairness doctrine would do wonders for the mistrust on both sides of the spectrum.
What would do wonders for mistrust would be for Democrats to all leave the country. 99% of all violent crime is committed by Democrats.

Nope on the fairness doctrine. You need only hold all news agencies feet to the fire to report the news as it is and not edited to reflect specific opinions or emotionally charged viewpoints.
Agree 100% with this.

They might be a drain financially, but they are also keeping the US fertility rates above 2 and allowing this country to grow. This is a moot point, as Trump and Homan are going to drastically change this it seems. I'll remain optimistic so long as our economy keeps humming along.

If fertility rates are your concern, then you could just ban abortion as contraception. Make it safe, legal and rare, as it was originally intended to be. But that's not your concern: You would take other pro-family measures, not pro-dgeneracy ones.

The economy would be much stronger without the massive influx of low skilled labour and dependents through illegal immigration. That's something your dad understood even if he couldn't articulate it. It's better to be right, as he is, and inarticulate, than wrong and articulate.

I don’t think we should be punishing people that will be bad parents with the burden of parenthood. If we could somehow prevent people who don’t deserve or want children, I’d be done for some sort of ban, also assuming we provide safety nets for young children.

The second point will be determined with this administration. We’ll see if you are correct. I will certainly love to come back here in July and say that SDC is really smart and correct and I was wrong again and I in need of more reflection.

Crime is down and has gone through each of the last 5 presidents.

Drug OD is down 18% from last year.

It's okay to celebrate good things and those are good things that transcend presidents.
The state of Kentucky solved the problem with speeding violations being on the rise by just not issuing tickets. The stats from year over year show a dramatic decrease in Speeding crimes. Just don't report or count it and you can solve even murder.

Now just use logic. If the police in KY no longer issue speeding tickets do you think that people will drive more slowly or that the average speeds will go up? Same with other crimes. When Cali raised the threshold for shoplifting to $1000 do you think that shoplifters kept stealing $500. Your stats sure reflect less shoplifting? Not measuring it doesnt mean there is less of it.

Come on man....use your head.

You should not be punishing babies for the mistakes or indiscretions of their "Parents". Human embryos are human. You want to kill something, get rid of those who murder, rape, and assault children first (death penalty) and then get rid of murders and rapist all together. Let the children grow up to prove themselves worthy instead of killing them off.

That is what happened with lower crimes in many states and in some large cities they did not report their crimes to the FBI over the last year or so.

But what are you doing for the kids who are born and live in deep poverty?

There it is! The classic devolvement into condescension.

Right on time! Well done, TROLL! So predictable.

And I'm right too. The fact that Democrats are ACTIVELY bringing in criminals by the hundreds of thousands (FACT) and those illegals are murdering and raping in this country (FACT) should make any REAL American angry. So take your condescension and shove it up your ass, son.

Serious question. How can we be certain that we can set up future successes for kids being born. That's what I want. I want future generations to be independent of the government, but we really need safeguards to get some populations there.
if you cared about future kids being born you'd oppose abortion. do you?

Not after 12 weeks or so. I'd be down for a ban with exceptions if we could ensure that kids from 0-18 didn't necessarily feel the effects of poverty. I want kids born in the 42633 to have every chance as those born in the 40511 and so on.

But what are you doing for the kids who are born and live in deep poverty?
How do you know which ones will be in deep poverty before they are born? You don't give them a chance? You want to get people in general out of poverty you actually spend money for infrastructure and the betterment of communities instead of spending money on pork. Stop laundering money through the Ukraine, giving money to failing businesses (bailouts), Biden admin today gave $6.6 billion to an EV company who was failing after already getting billions to begin with. Are you good with that when all of that money could be used to help the poor. More government corruption. Obama gave millions maybe even billions to green companies that went belly up. Over 37 of them. There so much fraud waste and abuse and you want to kill babies to make up for it. How sick are you?

If we can't we just kill them. Good plan. We need future workers not military aged illegals unvetted and running amok around the country.

My number 1 thing is protecting the poor. If that means dissolving the subsequent things (though I don't think that is necessary) I am 100% in favor if we can lift people out of poverty, while also maintaining that independence from the governments.

Republicans have unfortunately be unable to roll out a plan, or I haven't seen one that doesn't simply encrust the pockets of the wealthy with more money.

Over FIFTEEN TRILLION spent over the last several decades. What has that accomplished.

What are YOU doing?

How do you define "deep poverty?" Even poverty in this country is still better than 99% of the rest of the planet.
"Times are changing now the poor get fat, oh the fever going to get you when the bitch gets back"

Apparently, she has returned. I believe what was posted about this poster being a former one. Night*itch.
