having worked as an hourly member of a union for many years i believe it’s because most union workers have always believed that republicans are anti-union, which is probably true. i also think that belief is not held as strongly nowadays.

Actually, it's exactly the problem. We should be talking about the kind of people we need in this country to optimize economic prospects. And I am not talking about race, but skilled labor vs unskilled labor, service industry vs STEM vs etc, etc, etc. Then your policy is driven by those decisions.

I honestly don't think that's the reason. I think the vast majority of polls are heavily Dem biased. Because I think the media, and the Dems look at polls as a tool to shape the narrative, and not as a way to gather meaningful data.
