The border is practically shut down right now from Biden's EO. Biden should have done it sooner but better late than never.
The Dems and many Pubs in Congress wrote a Border Bill that addressed these issues. The Border Union gave it the thumbs up.... Then Trump trashed the vote for purely political reasons.

19th century is a long time ago. Everyone here has already said they are fine with some form of immigration (likely with some cap in yearly allowed), so long as they are vetted and legal. This is 2024.. we have cars, and planes, and up to the second data ingestion.. there's no reason we should be letting one come across that isn't vetted.

I think it's hilarious that because someone shows up and yells "Asylum!" that it just means they aren't illegal, and rather, should just be allowed in.
In no other private place, be it a government building, or your own home, is someone allowed to just open the front door, say the magic word "Asylum" and you're now just forced to make them a bed and feed them dinner.
