"I was privileged to deliver the sermon at that service today," said Jeffress, head of the First Baptist Church of Dallas. "I decided to compare President Trump to another great leader God chose 2,500 years ago named Nehemiah."
"Nehemiah wasn’t a politician, he wasn’t a prophet, he was a builder," said Jeffress. "God told him to build a wall around Jerusalem and he did that, and God made it a great success."
Gallagher then mentioned that there are parallels between Trump and Nehemiah because both men were not politicians and both men were "jeered and atatcked" by their critics.
Pastor Jeffress said, “I pointed out that he [Nehemiah] had his own critics, their names were Sanballat and Tobiah, kind of the mainstream media of his day. They ridiculed him, hammered him, spread false rumors about him."
"But Nehemiah didn’t let it stop him and I think the same is true for this president," said Jeffress. "He knows God has called him to a great work and he’s not going to be stopped.”

The book of Nehemiah tells the story of how Nehemiah leads the effort to build and fortify the wall around Jerusalem in 445 B.C. It took 52 days to complete the work.
"So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of the month Elul, in 52 days. When all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations surrounding us saw it, they lost their confidence; for they recognized that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God." (Nehemiah 6:15-16)
