This is a silly thing to argue. By 1946 the US could bomb Germany from home. 1940 was ancient history by then.

Germany still hasn't officially declared it terrorism. Their reasoning is no driver, no way of knowing if it was on purpose or just an accident. The atomic bombs were so scary that Japan continued fighting anyway and were ready to sign a peace treaty before we dropped the bombs. They did surrender on on terms once Russia was circling back and hitting them from another angle so that we could sandwich them.
But by all means continue thinking at the most important times in our nations history we weren't reliant on Russia and they were up to the task we needed of them.

Do not get me wrong, I mostly agree with this. But Japan still fought after the atomic bombs dropped for a month. So those 2 things didn't end the war.
