If residents were not leaving these states because of the political climate you would not see all of the growing states Red and the declining states Blue. So why are they moving?
If you actually talk to people who have moved you understand why. I have the opportunity to talk to them as some move in my neighborhood and go to my church. Some have horror stories to share.
Not a single one I have talked to who moved from California are retirees. For the most part them have children at home and want better schools and less restrictions in their work. Some sold their small business and reopened shops in their new home.

Politics has become a top driver of internal migration as remote workers flee expensive cities. Both the pandemic and the Dobbs decision exacerbated that. Both 'blue' and 'red' states used to be much more purple. Lots of conservative business people leaving their blue states they did business in for Florida these days.

Ok so abortion, being the unique issue it is, doesn't have an equal distribution along the political spectrum. While the overall numbers of 'pro-life' and 'pro-choice' aren't too lopsided, the enthusiasm with which they maintain those positions is. It makes sense when you think about it, most pro-choicers are of the Clinton variety, they think abortion should be safe, legal, and rare. Elective abortions are bad. Meanwhile many pro-lifers just take the moral position that abortion is baby murder and hence evil. So far more conservatives are going to care about moving to a pro-life state than pro-choicers are to move to a pro-choice state because their feelings on the issue are inherently more vehement. As always it's more complicated than a surface-level analysis would indicate.

First, it wasn’t that damn far out to sea where they shot it down. It was visible from shore. It’s not like it’s a bottomless abyss just off the coast of myrtle beach. Second, I’m sure the Coast Guard likely sent boats out to retrieve whatever fell. The balloon, even though deflated would have drastically slowed it’s decent to the bottom giving time for it to be retrieved.
