They said the same thing about Trump in 2016 but in reality, Trump was the only one beating Hillary. None of the GOP neocon types was going to beat her as Dems kicked the shit out of the GOP in 2008 and 2012 when GOP opted for Dem-Lite candidates.
With that said, I agree with the sentiment here that Trump is not the best candidate. Too much baggage. But the GOP also has no GD depth right now at all. It's DeSantis and Trump and DeSantis isn't going to run. I don't know anyone else who is going to generate the amount of momentum needed to beat the Dems and overcome the shenanigan's in the swing states. Think Ted Cruz or Nikki Haley types are going to win? I don't. But then again, the Dems are an absolute dumpster fire. But the GOP has no one worth a shit outside of DeSantis and Trump.

Didn't blame Reagan. But inflation happens and takes time to resolve. Biden was slow to react for sure. Trump's two stimulus money checks helped fuel this inflation as well.

We have about a year or so for somebody else to emerge. Possibly someone out of this falls congressional or senatorial elections that will be a new face who makes some noise, I don't know. Like many here I'm not enamored with the thought of Trump running again. I'll fully support him if he's the nominee, but certainly hope some force of god or nature makes Desantis decide he needs to run. I wholeheartedly fear for what the Dems will unleash on this planet to keep Trump from running, and especially what they'll do if he wins. I'm not so certain there will be much of a country left in 2024 for us to even have an election at the rate we're going.
