Read an article yesterday from a shelter in OKC that is waving their fees for adoption of dogs and cats. They have been overwhelmed with strays of late and will have to start euthanizing these animals if people do not start adopting. Doubt they will get many takers as it seems people are getting rid of them already. Same with our local shelter. Problem is also that they (the city) restricts the number you can have as well so...

Local news announced same earlier this morning. Williamson County Animal Shelter just north of us is way over capacity and appealing for adoptions. Major reasons: inflation and rising cost of living. Shelter currently at 147 dogs and cats. Capacity is 100.

As ex military whose specialty was security, I've never said armed teachers other than a few volunteers who could meet rigid standards. Some teachers could handle it, many could not.
I've also asked several times in various threads (with very little response) 'What do we need to do to upgrade law enforcement to the quality we seem to want in these threads?" More/better training is great, but I'm talking about attracting higher quality people in the first place. What would it take for the average person reading this thread to accept the responsibilities/dangers to accept the job? If you, me, or the next guy doesn't want the job, how do we get the people we want to have the job or do we just accept what we have and try and get by with what we have? If the cops at Uvalde were to scared to do their job, what amount of training will take the fear away?

Exactly. DeSantis has lots of work down here to keep him busy. He was elected by a razor thin margin and Florida was a blue state. It had never had a majority of registered voters Republican. Now Florida is a majority red state and the numbers are growing.
The goal is to have 100% state wide elected officials all Republican after the November election. And one important thing that is going on down here. These newly elected Republicans are very, very conservative Republicans. Moderate GOP'ers are being replaced by conservative patriots.
DeSantis is on a mission to rid Florida of left wing Democrats or contain them to a few select cities with heavy New York and New England transplants. If he accomplishes that it will the best job one could have imagined four years ago. There are jokes that all registered Democrats must have a Florida passport to cross county lines.
