I was watching the latest episode of The Marvelous Mrs Masiel. In this episode, she goes to confront the newsman writing terrible reviews about her. Turns out the man she went to see, is a woman. Or so they want you to believe. It was immediately obvious to me that the woman was actually a man. They are passing off a trans man as a woman on the show. Or trying to anyway. Might fool Sammie.
This verse of scripture always gets thrown around but never with context. Later in the sermon he speaks for people to beware of false prophets. How is that possible without passing judgement? Believers are called to discern, which is a type of judgement. Believers are to judge what’s wrong or right according to scripture. In John, Jesus literally says to judge the right way. There are several examples of how not to judge all through scripture: hypocritically, self-righteous, unforgiving and superficial.
Calling murder or adultery a sin is passing judgement, but it’s a judgement that agrees with God. Saying don’t judge, doesn’t mean that people can’t identify sin based on God’s definition of what it is.
