We always have to be on the lookout for government overreach from both parties. At the height of a pandemic it is very irresponsible for Joe Rogan to sell lies to the American people. I'm not saying he can't have a stance that opposes vax mandates or questions their dangers or long term effects. He has every right to take that stance and say so on a public forum.
I'm talking about the spreading of false information that is flat out untrue. He doesn't have the right to yell "fire" in a theater where there is no fire. That's essentially what he is doing with his Covid misinformation.

That's funny, I'm much further to the left than @sambowieshin and I don't want Rogan removed from Spotify. Neither does anyone I know. The neoliberals are the ones who want him silenced for contradicting the administration's precious narrative. Communists are more apt to be Joe Rogan listeners than cancelers.
I agree that it is a slippery slope when you start stifling free speech. But I also get not wanting misinformation spread that can kill people.
As far as the two parties go with this issue both are at fault.

I never said I wanted him removed. I only pointed out why there was a push by some to do so. I actually prefer honest debate and desemination of facts/truth as a counter to lies.
I can see where the argument could be made that his lies are effecting lives negatively but can also see that it is a real slippery slope to censor people even if their views are whacked out.
I actually thought it was a big mistake to kick Trump off of Twitter. It only reinforced the conspiracy theories and belief that everyone is out to get him. I think it was done to cool the heat the country was feeling at the time because of his election lies....but again....it is a slippery slope.

Again....here is the difference between me and many on this board. I am not an apologist for Pelosi, Biden, Waters or any other Dem. I think Pelosi should have lost her position a decade ago. She is almost as addled and incoherent as Biden.

We've been highly polarized for decades and Trump was the first president to really lean into those divisions to ride them for his own personal benefit in our lifetimes. Even Nixon eventually resigned. We have a history in America of being conciliatory towards the losers because the parties are so mutable and hardly distinct that the loser can always just snap up the disgruntled winners after a cycle of crappy leadership and be back on top for doing nothing but being welcoming. Compromise was the magic word of politics. But now in today's polarized climate it pays much more to just demonize the other side and get elected off that fear. Opposition has become the new most holy. Politicians get to do even less than they did before, just email a filibuster threat on everything the other side does and sit on your ass collecting a paycheck until the next election. Rinse, repeat. We need ranked choice voting. Screw parties, let candidates run on their stances on the issues, then we go in to vote and rank them as we like them. How many people would have put Trump 1st, or 2nd, or 3rd, or even 4th, in that field of 2016? You wouldn't get a Democratic candidate coming from a Dem primary where they had to please only Dem voters and vice versa with Rs. Ranked choice voting offers consensus picks, not a polarized, binary choice between a douche and a turd sandwich.

The main issue with Trump right now is him hyping the vaccine that half the country doesn’t want to take and doesn’t need to take statistically speaking.
He’s actually lost a decent amount of support for his comments pushing it and not being honest (imo) about the side effects of it. This isn’t an extremist ideology. This is people wanting choice, true informed consent and wanting to be left the hell alone by him, Biden or whoever else.

People act like Trump did something sinister. It’s stupid. For weeks, they invited people to Washington for a rally and to protest on the Capitol steps.
It was all public and out in the open. There were no secrets.
Then, the powers that be manipulated the situation as you noted above (and of course it goes much deeper than simply what we saw on the surface) and used the outpouring of support for Trump against him.
It’s not hard to see what happened. Trump never said to flood the Capitol. In fact, given the level of security in DC, it’s not even reasonable that the breach should have been able to occur, and certainly not at Trump’s bidding.
The National Guard was available. The Capitol Police. The US military.
But some goof bag, Trump supporters were able to breach the Capitol, en masse, after weeks of saying they were going to be there (time and date provided)? Doesn’t make sense.
No rational person can conclude that this was an insurrection led by the President of the US. It’s not sane.
Now, was Trump foolish to invite that crowd on that day, and not consider the potential fallout if the crowd was infiltrated? Did he not have any intelligence that the Epps’ of world would be there? If not, then it was because he was being kept in the dark during his final days as President, as the intelligence community worked to have him marked for life in hopes of preventing him from ever holding office again.
