In the mid sixties, one year I worked in the Magic Tunnel car wash. Any older people from Paducah will remember it. It was cold as heck in the winter. Made 75 cents an hour. A couple of older married guys made 85 cents an hour. Best I recall, gas was a little over 20 cents a gallon.
Graduated from Paducah Tilghman in 1961. Worked at the Dairy Queen 2 summers while in college early 60s. Made .50 cents an hour as a carhop with tips averaging about .40 cents. Inside workers made 90 cents an hour

No. Those workers keep the economy moving just like everyone else. You want the elderly making you your fast food burger because they can't support themselves after a lifetime of contributing to society? That's completely messed up. Screw you.
You are incredible. Never did I state that I feel that elderly should have to work. I said these jobs are perfect for those that want to get some interaction with people and can make a little money at the same time. You of course go the negative as is par for you. I know several retirees that are widowed and rather than spend all there time at home alone, they get jobs at all kinds of places. Farm and Fleet, Walmart, McDonalds etc. They work here because they get an opportunity to be socially active. People need interaction with others and most dont join clubs and hang out at senior centers. They get these jobs so that they can feel valuable and have human interaction. Good grief, no where does it say that they must work these jobs to survive in our evil system that makes them have to have jobs to slave until death.

Poor is relative. Why does the govt or you get to decide my wealth for me?

That's the communist way; they know what's best for you. They know how to fix all the problems, while never being able to achieve anything on their own of any significance whatsoever, they're the ones who will fix capitalism through government intervention.

Then you see their acolytes in this thread complain about their government job pension and laughing at others' hubris. It's all so colossally stupid and demonstrably wrong... no one is an actual threat to poor people like these brainwashed and indoctrinated idiots are. They can't help the poor, not that that's really their concern, but the only time tested true way to help the poor is through free enterprise, as it ever will be.

It's the only way.

My wife is a CPA and an overall numbers girl, so she keeps track of every household nickel on our monthly budget that she has done for years.

She ran a total for 2020 and then 2021 for the following items: groceries/household items (paper products, cleaning supplies, etc) 2021 was $800 higher for the year, and this included one month where we were gone on vacation for 3 weeks.

We are in a blessed position that we can afford it, however, I just can't imagine what many are sacrificing in order to make ends meet in the current economy, and keep in mind, this wasn't a gradual increase. It hit all of us in a relative short term.

Meanwhile, Joe gets a new cat and some ice cream....same thing that a dementia patient in a nursing home gets.

I grew up on well water until I started UK in 1987. Soda wasn't forbidden, just never considered a necessity to keep in the house. We had to have a special occasion to have it around. Your choice was milk or well water. My mother cooked from scratch.

I had a least one cavity every year. My father had his uppers replaced with dentures at 65.

I have had two cavities in the next 35 years of drinking glorious fluoride fortified city tap water.

My 17 and 19 year old have never had a cavity.

I might die with concrete brain, but I'll still have my own teeth.
Not in your avatar you don't!

That's exactly how any anti lockdown protest gets treated by msm and social media. They don't want anyone thinking there is anyone out there that thinks this went too far. They want you to think you're alone and all the cool kids are all in this together.

No telling how quickly this would've ended had they not been in complete control of information. If the GOP take Congress, they need an immediate bill making social media utilities. That's the only answer

Damned rooskies. again.

Mask mandate for kids at school dropped in VA. My kids say they are still wearing them. I’ll find out today how many are wearing theirs. Don’t think it’ll last too long, unless the Biden Admin, Progressive Democrats, teachers unions have really turned this into a a brainwashed Goatf***.

I was just an adolescent in the 70's, but my dad took me to the theater with him to see "Convoy" and well as "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Take this Job and Shove It".

He probably took you to Reds games too...you thought the Reds would be great forever I bet, not realizing in 2022 you would have to still talk about 1970s Reds teams because so many subsequent decades would be so unkind.

Actually no, but did go to a few Redbirds games in Louisville when they started up. And you should know who they were the AAA affiliate of back then.

As for Reds games, it was the other way around, I took my dad to a couple of those a before he passed away.

Mostly anecdotal but what seems to happen in scenarios where masks shift from mandatory to optional is initially it's a slower move than expected. Some is virtue signaling but much is due to the insane fear pumped out by those in charge.

Then a week or two go by and people see the maskless people aren't actually dropping dead or rushing to the hospital to be intubated. Then it's a pretty quick move to total unmasking.

The level of brainwashing is insane. I still fairly often see people walking around outside or driving, by themselves, with "face coverings" on. Neither of those were covid environments anyway and the "experts" openly admit anything less then n95 don't work.

Mentally and emotionally it will be a long climb out of this for alot of people, especially kids

I went with that avatar when my dad entered the hospital for the last time. He was 86 and about a week before he passed, I asked him how he was doing. I got, "These nurses are too damn old!"

They were probably in their 50s and not interesting enough for him.

When Blue keels over standing in the kiddie pool full of ky jelly, while starring at the 20 year old topless girls, gets me every time.

It's more of an anonymous tribute to my father.
