As a guy who has been a jury foreman several times in his life, let me just say it is NEVER a jury of your peers. There are some real dumbasses on juries who will decide your fate.

Don't do the crime, best advice I can ever give.
I'm 48 years old and have never once been selected for jury duty. I kind of want to so I can actually be apart of it for at least 1 case to experience it. My luck I would get a case like OJ and be stuck for like a year dealing with it. Since I'm a veteran and vote Republican and care about the country I probably won't get selected under the current justice system.

1000% IDK what my future holds, but if things were to not work out with my fiancee, one thing I would NEVER do, is get married a 2nd time. Have kids? Fall in love? Sure. But will never do this over. It's a lot of work, stress, money and it's basically all for the guests. I think it's crazy.

Both of my parents were previously married before meeting each other. Both had the big huge traditional marriage. Both ended in disaster. So when they got married they had a VERY small wedding. It was in the atrium of our church. The only non relatives were the minister and the photographer. We had the reception at my grandparents house. The choir director of the church catered it. And they've been married for 27 years now :)

Me and my wife have great jobs and live very comfortable now so although we are feeling the pinch at the pump and in the grocery store we can absorb it and be fine. However, it took years of grinding to get to this point. Luckily, we did not have massive student loan debt and have been responsible with money. Most importantly, we grew our wealth and assets without the burdens of high inflation, skyrocketing house prices, etc. I really feel for younger folks who have tried to do it the right way like we did and are in a position now where they are struggling to get ahead because of everything going.

My biggest fear is the future. The path we are on is completely unsustainable and the day of reckoning will come before many of us want to retire. The boomers in power have completely failed this country with their greed, thirst for power and irresponsible spending. Now we have the younger generation coming into power that are angry and want change because they are struggling to get ahead. Its all going to come to a boiling point sooner than later.
It’s not boomers, it’s liberal democrats. I don’t think any of the squad could be classified as boomers.

I've thought the same thing...would hate to be young (again) with 3 kids with the way this economy is going. And I think it's going to get worse.
We are somewhat like you...only older. Both retired but no bills to speak of. Have been debt free for quite some time...rental income coming in as well...so we too won't be spending unless we need/want to.
But I sure feel sorrry for those young families where the bills/mortgage/car payments/etc are not an option.
I feel for young folks too. I paid off my home a good 25 years ago, sold it and bought my present home in cash.

Speaking of marriage, I was married while in the Army. I had been engaged before entering the Army and found out I would be assigned to Ft Knox for the last year and would stay there until discharged. I ask the Captain for a 3 day pass and took a $20 bill and eloped to North Carolina. I paid $6.00 for a full medical exam, about $5 for a marriage license, $5 for a preacher and off we went. It will soon be 55 years and it was just me and her with nothing. Not even a pot to cook in. I think I made about $100 a month plus a housing allowance after I got married.

The Republican Party hired ex cops privately and they spent a month up there stopping the steal prior to the election. So that’s why the Dens were shut down. Jersey was still able to come from behind for the victory.

They invested in Virginia because it was viewed as winnable.

Too bad they didn’t view Jersey the same way.

Nonetheless, if turnout had not been strong, Youngkin doesn’t win.

Home loans were 17+%......you had to wait in line for gas.......some stations were out of gas.......inflation went crazy........Thank you you incompetent POS Jimmy Cater.............another liberal idiot.........
It was horrible. We had gas rations with a 10 gallon limit. You bought gas according to your license tag. Odd an even numbers. Odd was M, W, F Even was T Th Sat. No gas was sold on Sunday. So if you had to travel you were probably in trouble. I bought two 10 gallon gas cans and drove from New Orleans to Florida on a Sunday. I had a 1972 VW. The gas cans were military grade and in the back seat. Crazy days.

Oh and I never voted for any Democrat after Jimmy Carter. What a total POS president. Biden may end up worse. He is just getting started screwing up America.

Biden has turned you MAGA sheep into some hard-core snowflakes. It's quite entertaining.

Bannon indicted. Because what federal grand jury doesn't return massive indictment on Friday evening

Unless you lived through the 70's & early 80's as an adult, we haven't begun to see serious inflation. Was 15-20% per year at times. But everyone is right to be worried about the rapid climb today as it can quickly spiral out-of-control.

Like clockwork, if it's a Dem president we have massive inflation due to insane spending. The only quasi exception was Clinton because he was offset by a GOP Congress.

And yes it's absolutely intentional and an attempt to usher in socialism

An update to this. Had a friend curse at me and block me because I said this on that tweet, "serious question. When will we acknowledge obesity is unhealthy? I'm glad they feel 'confident and sexy' everyone should be confident in themselves. But we also, as a country, suffered from the virus more so because of obesity and other related health issues."

I was called a moron for not knowing how "wrong it is to measure obesity by bmi", and that I'm a moron and my comment "wasn't christ like."

This girl hates her body and weight. Is a liberal, and a teacher. She's one of those "you can't have an opinion" type too.

I'm just wondering how my reply to the Hooters article is mean, insulting, or unchristian in any way...
Aw, she must have been very convicted and we can't have that. Jesus definitely shied away from anything controversial and totally didn't have any commands about what was right or wrong in case it hurt someone's feelings.

Modern day Christianity has been perverted. Between the inside of churches looking like malls with their own coffee shops and bookstores and the believe whatever/universal grace/don't change your lifestyle whatsoever stuff---is very off-putting.

Can or will any leftist acknowledge the great lengths the press goes to cover for Biden? You know this is BS spin, right intentionally meant to mislead people that he actually said this? Or are you that brainwashed? Or is it you simply don’t care because this is like sports fandom to you (“Yay! Go blue team!”)?

Speaking of cookies…. while parked outside of eye doctor’s office, I witnessed at least 40 obese women going into CrumbL Cookies in a 30 minute period. I mean they were big ole heifers. If the virus catches them, I don’t like their survival chances.
You were at the eye doctor huh? You sure you weren't at the stockyards for an auction.....just kidding bro

The same crowd that's "literally shaking" at the wrong pronoun also can't understand how an 18 year old in a sham prosecution with his life on the line might have a near mental breakdown when he finally gets to be heard after all this time.

Also he most surely has PTSD from killing someone. I know those aren't abbreviations libs are familiar with but still
True that. But there weren’t any tears. He wasn’t sad those guys were dead. He was shaken to the core but not shedding tears over dead scum

Guess I was lucky...or too young and stupid. Had moved to Atlanta while Ford was President, so when Carter came along I was already in 'boomtown USA'. I remember prices going up across the board but not really rationing and so forth. And Atlanta didn't seem to miss a beat because so many people were moving in. But, back here in Ohio, I knew people that had a terrible time with inflation, interest rates, and so forth. My brother almost lost his business and hung on by a fingernail because things were so bad economically in Ohio.

On the bright side, which is not here today, interest rates were high on savings accounts, etc. I knew some people that made a good deal of money just on their savings accounts. Now, if you get a dollar in interest on an account you're doing good.

I wa young then, but remember the gas lines and Carters "wear a sweater" speech.

I noticed at the hotel I work at that we have had a lot of Sunday weddings lately. Part of it is because since no one could have a wedding in 2020 that everyone was putting them off until 2021. But I looked into it and a lot of the venues in Louisville charge several thousand less for Sunday than they do on Saturday. Some even literally half as much.

If I ever get married, that's what i'll be doing.

Jeesh. My wife and I got married in a 100 guest wedding at our church and paid around $1k including minister, dress, cake and sodas. There were two solo songs and a duet as well.
I'm a cheap @$$ and think it's dumb to start your life as a couple in major debt. So eff the ring that costs many months of pay. Screw the big church wedding with 100's of guests. That's just how I feel about it but everyone is free to do what they want to do. Especially if you have the money already saved up or someone else pays for it.

I had a simple wedding at my aunt's house in her big backyard with a lot of help from family and friends. She had an arch in the yard that we got married by. My wife was given a dress to wear that my aunt had. Someone had a couple of canopies we used. My work let us borrow tables and chairs from the break room.

A coworker's wife was a photographer and took the pictures for free and my mom just paid for the film and developing of the pictures. The preacher was a friend of a family member of my wife's and her dad just made a donation to her church for her officiating the wedding. Had another friend of the wife's family that made the cake.

I put a music cd together and my mom's boyfriend and one of his friends played and sang a song or two. Hell I even made or helped make a lot of the decorations and flower arrangements including my wife's bouquet. My aunt had a party the weekend before where they roasted a pig and we had a bunch of meat leftover that we made sandwiches out of.

Altogether we probably only spent a few hundred and no one else spent anymore than that either. Doubt we spent more than $1,000 total on everything between everybody.

Great story brother. Congrats.
