Speaking of inflation... and related topics like LABOR COSTS... Amazon reported earnings today and missed their numbers, citing, among other things, HIGHER LABOR COSTS. Stock is down 4% a/o 10:39am.
"He (our analyst) highlights that AMZN’s 3Q revenue and 4Q revenue guide were largely in-line, but there was higher operating margin pressure on the retail business from more hiring, higher hourly labor costs, process inefficiencies, freight costs, and higher content spend. He updates his AMZN 4Q forecast after the company committed to doing “whatever it takes to minimize the impact on customers and selling partners this holiday season”. His estimates imply AMZN will lose ~$7bn this holiday season in retail, ~1.7X more than what they lost in 3Q:21."
