Mask mandates and administering a poison are very different animals. Mask mandates were quick but, they are weighing the vaccine mandate and where they are proposing it now are in both federal and state jobs. They are trying to see if that is legal there. They know it is not legal in the private sector at this point. Now, that is not to say they won't try to find a way around it or try to change the laws regarding that. If they try through congress we will be on the 200th variant before they change the law for the first one but, the FDA works outside of the normal process of law changing and can almost with impunity make regulations to govern what they want to so, I am not really sure where that leaves us on the mask mandate issue.
