Echoing some comments from another thread yesterday, I don’t find this very believable without some really solid evidence. I’ve found fault with a lot of Cal’s approach recently, but part of that is that he’s overly deferential to the whims of the players if anything. Holding a player hostage would be so completely out of character for him that I’m not buying it at this stage.

I believe these idiots are confused. Cal is the one being held hostage. Players have all the power. This doesn't even fit with Cal. He goes out of his way to accommodate kids that want to leave. He helps them find their next team, lies for them and helps cover up their bad behaviors. How many times have we seen this?

These guys were the reasons for the comments not the other way around.

Cal is the one who first used this “hostage” remark in regards to our players. Now people are throwing it back at him especially bc of the sharpe fiasco.

No one is hostage, as Reeves needs to have an undergraduate degree to enter the transfer portal. The NCAA no longer allows anyone to transfer twice, no matter who’s blessing is given . He‘s at Illinois State right now taking classes, because some classes may not transfer to Kentucky and then back to Illinois State….and he needs everything to be able to get that undergraduate degree to enter the portal. If he’s hostage, it’s by the NCAA for not allowing him to transfer twice with immediate eligibility as he couldn’t do it even if Calipari wanted him to. Also , Increased NIL at Kentucky is a factor that’s certainly not holding anyone hostage, it’s making them think about it more because there’s more money

How is he holding him hostage. He did not graduate, so he can't enter portal. He could take summer classes and graduate and be a grad transfer. Cal has zero control over that. Reeves either needs to put in the work and graduate, suck it up and come back to UK, or quit college ball.... Those are his choices. Cal controls none of that.
