Pilgrim said Oscar wanted 8 million from UK

If 8 million is true it looks like OT isn't reading his scriptures enough. Like the "love "of money is the root of all evil and a fool and his money shall soon depart. Oscar would make more money at UK than his pro contract will be next year and going forward.
Your last sentence is why this report makes absolutely no sense. He was poised to make more money in school next season while also having the opportunity to work towards a masters.

If money was his goal why would he throw that away for overseas or g league?

Employers put caps on players, even the NBA has a cap the first 3-4 years, this gets fixed or NCAAB is history - you now like tampering that the pro leagues don‘t even allow.
NBA is collectively bargained with a union, the players are their employees, and they don’t cap endorsements. The NCAA nor anyone else can cap how much money a person makes off their name image and likeness. Players aren’t NCAA employees or employees of the school. What authority would they have to cap NIL legally?

I dont believe the 8 mil thing. I read that Oscar by going pro not being a college student can get a different type if Visa and bring his mom to the US. I read that was a huge factor also.

Even if it had been 8 mil Cow should have gave a years salary to O for keeping him from 3 straight losing records and missed tourneys. Trust me without O it could have happened.

Hell it still would have left Cow a mil for the year. I would feel better about paying a guy like O 8 mil than Cow 9 mil for yelling run.

I don't blame Oscar. If you're going to sell your soul to come back to a program where the coaching staff won't develop, use you properly or improve your future potential in any way, then you ask for a lot. Never mind that a portion of the fan base says that we are better off without our best player of the last 2 years.

This is way over the top and very overly dramatic. Oscar was out of here before the year started, maintained his stance, and those who were leeching off him may have asked for an insane amount but Tshiebwe wanted to move on.

I don't get into the "sources" business but I maintain my friend is pretty accurate with the things he shares and he never had any issue with telling me Oscar is gone and everyone knows it. This was prior to the season. When the rumors go back and forth.....those who stay consistent usually end up correct. So I'd repeatedly ask when others were saying they heard different and he said "He's gone". If you are going to talk about Tshiebwe, the #1 point to bring up is his age. He's older than reported and he wants a chance to play Pro ball. It's not a vindictive departure, it's listening to what NBA people told him which is at his age and if he wants a legit chance to get drafted at all or have a shot to make a team, it's best to go now.

Now if you talk about Calipari's handling of this, I think it was fear Oscar would go elsewhere in the Portal and it's why he allowed this to drag out. How else do you go against your own quote of "I expect all the Seniors to leave" and "I'm looking forward to have two 7'0 on the court together" by hanging in with a guy who had told you he was gone before the season and reiterated his wishes. Hell Pilgrim reported that Oscar wanted to pursue the Pro route too. Now comes the dramatic report to sensationalize a situation that was basic and known. I commend Oscar for doing what he wanted to do and sticking to his word. He never wavered. Those around him are a different story and I'm convinced Cal just wanted to make sure it was Pro ball and not a PR hit of him ending up at a different program.
I totally agree with this. And now I believe Cal and UK have leaked this rumor to take some of the heat off of Cal for sitting around all spring and getting no one. I think Cal is feeling heat now, since even the media is taking about the dire situation Cal has gotten the program in.

I thought Oscar gave his ''blessing' for the staff to go after his replacement? Someone is lying....
Kind of like when the whole kneeling thing happened and Cal said in the postgame presser that the players had told him earlier in the week they wanted to do it and he said he would kneel with them. Then after fans were irate he changed his story later to they came in right before the game and it happened on the spur of the moment?

This NIL thing is going to divide players on all teams. And I don't believe anything Calipari says anymore.

I seriously doubt it and the way things sound team cal needs some of that nba money thrown our way.I read in a Tucker article that bruiser Flint is going to become GM. Oscar probably wanted 1 mill and we don't have it. They report 8 mik This makes Oscar look crazy instead of uk and cal looking slow.I

Would make sense if he made $4 million last year, he only played offense. It costs another $4 million if you want him to play defense.

I don't believe any of that, these figures are so overstated, I think very few if any players receive seven figures, if you look at what HD said he got which was five figures that is more likely the reality, eight million is a absurd number, how can anyone with a brain believe that.
