Per Jones-Dancing Man Fell and dropped a little girl

A good waiver is worth it's weight in golf and is a valuable risk management tool.

Keeping this in context, do you really think a waiver signed by a mentally challenged man is going to hold any kind of weight in a court of law. Secondly, if negligence is alleged against the "administration" for allowing him to continue knowing the risks, do you think any court in America would consider that waiver as anything other than a piece of paper?

It is better to have a waiver than not to but, as I said, they are worthless if you end up in court. BTW, the same applies to signs that shop owners often post. State law will override them every single time.

I don't have a strong opinion either way on dancing man, but I don't give a flying **** what the rest of the country thinks about our state.
We are Kentucky, embrace it. Many people think we're a bunch of backwoods bumpkins that don't wear shoes and sh*t in the woods no matter what; some of us do and that's alright;). When I brought friends home from the Navy, in my younger days, they were surprised at times at the modern conveniences we had. I always had fun with it. And I agree, screw anyone that looks down on us for whatever reason.

To the rest of the country he comes off as a nut job or somebody who just hit a line and can't sit still. Then they stereotype other KY residents to be the same way. Nobody outside the state knows his story or why he's like this. Honestly they probably don't care to because they would rather use him as something else to slander KY with.

I feel for the guy if he's had to deal with the things posted above but the act needs to stop. Admittedly it was cool and funny for awhile but we are way past that point and he's just doing it for attention now. There's zero reason to be dancing during a game in Rupp. The stairs are so steep they're hard to walk on let alone dance on.

Anybody know what section he sits in? I always look for him when I go but I've never seen him except for the on the screens. I had always guessed upper deck on the side of the court the benches are on.

I've lived in New England for 7 years now and the stereotypes are still going strong.

I've heard it all. Amazing how such an educated area are still a bunch of idiots when it comes to things outside of their region.

Shockingly, I know a very intelligent MIT grad. He saw a cutting board I have with the state of KY and home burned onto it. He looked at me as serious as can be and said "what's that on there?" Didn't even recognize the state of KY.

Also had an argument about KY with someone from Lawrence, MA. Talking about every bad stereotype he had heard of KY. He wouldn't shut up. So I got tired of it and gave him an education about the town he lives in. Here's the beginning of an article from 2012 about Lawrence.....

City of the Damned
Crime is soaring, schools are failing, government has lost control, and Lawrence, the most godforsaken place in Massachusetts, has never been in worse shape. And here’s the really bad news: it’s up to controversial Mayor William Lantigua to turn it all around.

Idiots are everywhere. And while I would love to ignore them, I love KY and will always defend it.

Fans watching the greatest program in history at Rupp Areana need something to look forward too??
Not necessarily something to look forward to, but rather between timeout entertainment. Why is everyone a bunch of sour pusses toward this guy and what he does? Nobody has had a problem with it until this happened. Simple solution...don't pick kids up and slide down the rail with them.

You must not see what I think the rest of the country sees when they see him. I don't like way I see the him and I'm embrassed for our state

I don't really care whether he continues or not, because he's not anywhere on my radar when I'm watching a game.

But I have to ask...you're actually embarrassed for our state because a guy dances for 3 minutes in the 2nd half of a basketball game??

Some like to have fun while watching the greatest program in history.

Yes, fun is a foreign concept to many, but it's true nonetheless.

Watching the game is plenty of fun for me. I don't need someone in the stands to entertain me.

Maybe it's because going to the game is a treat to me now instead of a common occurrence since I moved away.

If people want to dance, dance away. Just stay at your seat.

So freaking what. Amazed that you can be "embarassed for our state" for his actions, but ok with the normal UK fan nonsense. That poor guys has been through hell. And yes, he lives for his 15 seconds of fame every game. Should there be some stricter rules in place? Of course, but let them man enjoy himself.

And anyone rival or other team thinks it's funny, only does out of jealousy for the program. If this was being done by a fan in Minnesota, no one would ever say a thing. It's KENTUCKY. That's their only motivation.

His care givers are the ones who need correcting. Irresponsible is the kindest description for the help they are providing. Same goes for those in charge of arena security.

Otherwise let him dance and wave a banner. Cut out the lewdness and child participation then everyone wins.

Gotta laugh at all the antidotes of people across the country who supposedly stereotype KY because of this guy.

Truth is likely that 99% of the college basketball watching public outside the state of KY would have no idea who in the heck you're talking about if you brought up the KY dancing man, or whatever he's called.

Nobody would say a thing about nearly crippling a killing a minor? Doubt that.

He's been on national broadcasts multiple times, was all over several shows on ESPN after the fall.

I'm sure more than few people have seen him.

I will defend it as well when people are being stupid but if they just don't know and aren't being assh**es I go with it. I will admit the worst I came across seemed to come from the Northeast, but not always, some good folks up that way as well.

After the fall? Wait I thought the country had already formed their impressions of us hillbillies based on his dancing?
Most of the country has no idea who this guy is, nor do they care. And the idea that perceptions of Kentuckians are being formed based on this guy is asinine, in my opinion.

Nobody would say a thing about nearly crippling a killing a minor? Doubt that.

He didn't nearly cripple or kill anyone. Good grief. As I've stated I don't really care either way because I don't watch him. But the hyperbole is a bit much.

Coming at the wrong guy.

Was just saying more people have seen him than one might think.

Stereotypes were already there before this dude was alive. Nothing new in stereotype world for KY.

Oh I can go with it and laugh when it's in good fun.

And it's not like I'm a rabid dog attacking anyone speaking bad of KY. But if it goes beyond joking, I will calmly defend and attempt to educate the person on the subject. But, up here some people just don't listen. That can be found a lot places unfortunately though.

He didn't? He fell and dropped her. Rupp's steps are quite steep. Only luck avoided a tragedy. Back and head injures are an expectation in such an accident. Yes, he nearly crippled or killed her.

So no hyperbole here, just an uncomfortable dose of reality.

Sit him in the middle of the blue hairs and let them yell at him. He should be done humping handrails

I think the word you are looking for is anecdotes. Word substitution sucks for me too. Thumbs too damn big.

An update on Dancing Guy

If you haven’t seen the footage of Dancing Guy (Darren Moscoe) dropping a young girl during his dance routine on Tuesday night, then, well, you must not watch TV or use the internet very much. The video went viral, and several people have been lashing out and making fun of Darren all week. One of his friends has been keeping me updated on Darren’s state of mind after the incident, and according to him, Darren was devastated earlier this week (his video apology is incredibly sad) but is in better spirits after receiving support from fans. Yesterday, Darren got a call from UK Athletics telling him he’s not allowed to dance on the rail or steps at Rupp anymore. Hopefully they can come to a compromise and allow him to at least dance in his seat

It's a middle aged man grinding his crotch and sliding down a rail on national television. Now he has grabbed a pre-teen girl from the crowd, put her across his lap, and slid down the rail, dumping her on her head when he fell off (and it was on the national broadcast here in Flori-duh. The announcers were commenting on it). Sounds like a battery to me. Maybe her parents gave consent, but I don't think so.

Yet, some still don't find this guy creepy.

How can he NOT be an embarrassment to the Commonwealth? Should he take off his clothes next? Let him dance his little heart out in his seat.

If your dog was out playing in the road or your kid you would of course would get them out of the road because the inevitable will happen eventually. Just like the thread I bumped the other day that was 2 months old. I stated then it was a matter of time before their was an incident. I'm no prophet but I do have common sense something some posters here lack.

I don't care what he has been through it doesn't give him the right to gyrate and grind on the rail in front of everybody. If you guys see nothing wrong with him on a pole then load him up in ur car and take him to Manardi Hall so he can grind on their stripper pole.

If you allow him to go back to dancing he will hurt somebody else or himself. It's just a matter of time. If Rupp allows it I hope whoever he will injure hits the PC crowd making the decisions where it hurts them the most.

I just don't see how anybody can watch that and not feel embarrassed or shocked at some of the stuff he does. Ive seen cheerleaders do stuff that I was embarrassed seeing. Some stuff should be done out of the public eye and not done at all in a public setting.
Huh? Some major hypocritical drivel right there ladies and gentlemen.

Your ilk are the ones making this politically correct and using safety, taste or whatever as a strawman argument. Your embarrassment says a whole lot more about you wanting to run other peoples lives than this man expressing himself. How convenient?

A waiver signed by someone mentally incompetent will not hold up. But I've seen and/or read about many cases where a signed waiver was reason for dismissal of a lawsuit.

Waivers exist for a reason. A well drafted waiver can and will protect the party having it signed.

I got over some of that as I've aged. He loves UK and just lets it out. We all tend to get to wound up about what others think. I couldn't care less. I just hope he never dances with a partner again.

I actually agree with you that the potential for something bad happening was certainly there. I'm not sure the answer. I feel bad for the guy. At the same time, once he became part of the show at a Rupp, the responsibility & potential liability on UK & Rupp increased. I'm beginning to side with those who say his act should probably end because he apparently may not understand or appreciate possible consequences to actions he may make on the spur of the moment.

Reported by KSR this morning that he received a phone call from representatives of Rupp Arena and told him he is no longer allowed to dance on the rail or stairway anymore.

You might consider standing tall and growing a pair.

I hate it for this guy who may or may not have the capacity to understand all of this. But it's probably the best solution.
Have to appreciate UK & Rupp not being wishy washy & making a decision.

There was no choice in this instance, the liability for Rupp and UK escalated very quickly after that fall.

Exactly. Other fans will be dancing, too. Just keep off the rails, keep your hands to yourself, and then dance your brains out, and have a good time. Pretty simple solution.
