Per DraftExpress, Trevon Duval (#1 PG in 2017 HS Class) Commits To Duke

You mean like in 2015 when he did exactly that?

He didn't have as many impact-needed freshman and had more reserves.. You might want to buy a Duke book from Amazon or something. Maybe you could learn more about your team?

2017/18 is a whole new ball-game for Coach K.. And in 2015 he couldn't have had a more perfect class, like UK did in 2012. Extremely hard to not have a few players not catch-on until it's a little too late.

Senior Quinn Cook. Junior Amile Jefferson (21 mpg) and Sophomore Matt Jones (21 mpg). Sulaimon for half of the season (19 mpg). Next season, you are gonna have only Gracie if Jackson stays gone. But, sure just the same as 2015. Moron.
Sulaimon was dismissed halfway through the season and the team actually improved since he was a huge cancer.

Amile and Matt were nice ancillary pieces but they were nothing special and a senior Grayson Allen is a way bigger piece than either of them were at the time.

Duke fans rightly expect Javin DeLaurier to improve and provide some solid rotational minutes.

The pieces fit together perfectly for Duke this year too.

True Point Guard: Check (Duval)
True Shooting Guard: Check (Allen)
Versatile Wing/SF: Check (Trent or Knox)
Top Big Man: Check (Carter)
Rim Protector: Check (Bolden)

If Jackson returns, Duke will cut down the nets in 2018 almost assuredly.

Here's to some more ACLs popping, bad chemistry, back injuries and tripping episodes. Can't wait!

Will still be bad horribly on defense. That team will also lack depth. I guarantee that team won't cut down the nets or even make a Final Four.

I would take Green and Sexton over duval. Duval is not the best pg in the class IMO .

I know you can't really go by these AS games, but in the 3 I watched, I don't recall anything Duval did that stuck out to me. Maybe it's because I wasn't concentrating on him, but I was way more impressed by Sexton.

Shh. I want them to get all the pre-season hype like they did last year, only to massively let down their fans once again. Bolden couldn't sniff the court last year, but he's going to be a starter and their "rim protector" this year? Ok.

No team is ever assured of cutting down the nets in college basketball jackass, I don't care how much talent you have. You accused others of being homers then say something as idiotic as that.

The only rim Bolden has ever protected is the toilet bowl rim when he sits his lazy a$$ on it and watches his career flush down the toilet thanks to Saint K's tutelage...

Hate to see this but no surprise. If/when Duke gets Knox or Bamba...Duke will be loaded. Can't imagine K screws it up two years in a row.

Duval
Trent
Allen
Bolden

Knox
Bamba

Bolden has shown me NOTHING to make me believe he'll contribute anything to creating a "loaded" team.

Are you a HS player evaluation expert or just being a homer here?

This will probably be one of Duke's youngest and least talented teams in a while.

Rankings are not everything case in point

Devin Booker
Scout: #28
Rivals: #29
ESPN: #18

Just finished his second year in the NBA and on the verge of a major contract

Chase Jeter
Scout: #9
Rivals: #8
ESPN: #13

Ranked higher than Booker in every service but after completing his second year at Duke is transferring due to lack of playing time.

So either the rankings are not always correct or Duke wasn't able to get him to his potential like UK did with Booker. Which was it?

Wow - Allen - who had a very pedestrian season (though pumped by the media as POY material over and over until Kennard killed that) most of last year is going to combine to be a "bigger piece" than your top rebounder and the newly minted ancillary Jones - plus pull his own weight at a much more productive rate than last season - one guy doing the work of three - lol.

I will give you this - he is a "bigger piece" alright...

Under the strict criteria, UK will be cutting down the nets too. I'll just assume Duke takes the ACC title.

I'm not sure how reputable this guy is but DX is usually spot on with their recruiting news. I wonder how this affects the prospects of Frank Jackson returning to Duke and Kevin Knox committing?
Hey zachdeer1 not to bad of a trolling post this time unless u think we are pining over Knox or think that Jackson is coming back. Knox probably goes to Duke duval may effect that or not although he is close friends with Green so I would say as point guards go if that had a bearing on his decision I would say Jackson leaving helps more than duval committing. Jackson won't come back now. Family doesn't like that Duval was made the priority at pg so this probably seals the deal on Frank. Thing about Knox is great versatile player but he isn't on Tatum's or Ingrams level. But will be solid

Pretty obvious that Krzyzewski is aiming for a lineup of Duval, Trent, Allen, Knox or Carter, and Carter or Bamba. Which he hopefully doesn't get.

4 freshmen, for those who have trouble counting, and looking more and more like a one-and-done factory. So much for standards, I guess :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Bolden will start no way promises weren't made to ensure he didn't transfer. Carter is not a 5 doesn't bang with his bulk wants to be a perimeter player and I have seen him pout alot. For being taken out of the game.

Well one thing is for certain Duke's Coaching staff has proven that promises mean nothing if they are not winning.

Zero depth. Only one starter not a freshman and he has a rep of being a ball hog not a leader. K has not proven he can win with freshman and u think he will with 5 of his top 7 being freshman? Cal knows how to mix attitude with talent not many do. Bamba is not going to duke! They are third. Carter will be the 4 and Bolden will start the 5 foul trouble inside will kill them

I agree Sexton is the best PG this year but Duval is a close second.
Sexton will have the most turnovers and one of the lowest shooting percentages of all fresh pg next year. Being flashy with the ball isn't necessarily being the best pg going between ur legs for a pass forward on a fast break is pretty but when nobody is on you and a simple pass ahead keeps the defense from catching up is the difference between a basket and a to in college. He isn't even that great of a ft shooter. Will be fun to watch but I bet Greens and Duvals efficiency is better in college

How much jewelry did Duval get? Or did that go straight to the guidance counselor who's in charge of the transcripts?
