It really is remarkable that a conference of huge, well-funded and ambitious sports programs, some with notable basketball histories in the distant past like Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan State, even Michigan and Illinois, could not have won a title now in a quarter century by next year, and only ONE combined since the 1980s.
Florida has two titles more recently than the entire conference has won one. Arkansas has as many titles since 1990. So has Baylor and Syracuse and Virginia and UNLV.
Just an amazing record of futility by a major conference with money, resources, tradition, and athletic ambition.
