I didn't even stay up to watch that games 2nd half last night. Cal and Arkansas aren't relevant to me. They are like the worst team n the sec and he deserves it all.
No, you dont get it. Cal was praised millions of times for everything he did at UK. We treated him like a God.

Then he made it the University of Calipari, then he used UCLA to put the squeeze on Mitch, then he turned us into a farm system, then he started losing to mid majors, then he allowed a player to take NIL, sit on the bench, refuse to play and tell us to come to games early to watch him warm up, then he had the worst season in UK history because he played his favorites, instead if his best team, then he collected the worst 2 NCAAT losses in UK history and while doing that, decided to be an asshat to the BBN.
You don't get to do these things, while making 9 million a year and just lose because the NBA draft is more important. He did this to himself and if you cant see that, it's a YOU problem.

A lot of people (including me) are making fun of Cal and rightfully so. But, his teams are always good for one or two massive wins that come out of nowhere. We better be ready to play on 2/1 because the Cats absolutely cannot allow Cal to come into Rupp and get a win
Respectfully disagree. His first couple midnight madness was impactful. The Kentucky effect. He initially "got" it. This is what makes it so maddening IMO. He "got it" and gave all Kentucky fans the bird and basically said he doesn't give 2 chits about the season and it is all about NBA for him.

It might be the difference between coaching at UK and coaching at a mediocre program.
If he can't beat LSU, he isn't beating anybody, especially on the road.
He doesn't have the horses he had at UK to pull off those upsets and he certainly can't do it via coaching tactics.
One of my larger hurdles in life is feeling sorry for people that get paid filthy amounts of money to fail at their job.

Who gives a rats ass if you are ashamed of anything. Cal did win a title, 4 final fours and then nothing for 10 year degrading the fan base and leaving us as poor excuse of our proud heritage. He had no true love for this program…..Pope does….now look at the difference
He's a rival now, and he obviously wants to see us fall just as much.. I'd rather see him go winless and set Arkansas back years.. lord knows we could use a real bottom feeder in the SEC to get some easy wins against lol. And I want the program and fans to be vindicated in moving on from him.

Rich people are still people, they're not immune to human emotions. I don't necessarily feel sorry for Cal, but anyone who was at the top of their profession and widely respected in their industry and then seemingly overnight lost their edge, was average at best, and was being mocked for falling off would struggle to deal with it mentally.
I had posted last week that it was too early to call cal/ark a complete train wreck. I think I can now safely call it a train wreck. He must be losing the Ark fans right and left. I watched 10 minutes of the second half of Ark/Lsu last night and LSU didn't look good at all and Ark was up 6 or 8 points with 8 minutes to go, when I turned off. And I said to myself if cal loses this game the best "tweak" he can do for his team is to never come out of the locker room at half and let one of his assistants coach the 2nd half of games.
Cal had the chance to change the narrative, he chose to stay the course and flip us the bird.
He's still doing the same things that got him into this mess, so he only has himself to blame.

This is a ridiculous post. If he was struggling with it mentally, then try having some damn humility. BBN would have been incredibly forgiving if he had just had some humility. But nope, the man doesn’t have it in him. He just doubled and tripled down on his arrogance.
If Cal hadn’t turned into a toxic narcissist and tried to poison everything and everyone around him, then nobody would be…but he has. No one is arguing that Cal was not legitimately great for about 10 years here. He was. No one is arguing that he didn’t do great things for the people in this state during those 10 years. He did. But people change. He’s now a narcissist, condescending asshole who tried to gaslight this entire fanbase that we weren’t seeing what we knew we were seeing, and he’s been that way for a long time. I'm honestly surprised at the people that are shaming others on behalf of a millionaire that left the way he did.
I don't "hate" Cal. But I don't feel ashamed for enjoying what's happening. We were smart enough to want out of it. We luckily got out of it. Arkansas acted like they did something by stealing our coach. And now the results tell the real story.
I think part of the frustration for people is what could have been. Calipari can recruit talent as well as anyone in the country. He refused to adapt to modern basketball. Kentucky paid the price.
1st round exit, 2nd round exit, 1st round exit. We were set up to be Arkansas with a worse record if he came back this year. We'd have the same roster (maybe minus Johnell Davis, but it's not like Arkansas has the real Johnell Davis anyways).
Since he wouldn't adapt and we had to pay the price--I'm ok with him continuing to pay the price without us.
The worst was we would have three bad games in a row, then he would pull out a squeaker and be the most condescending POS ever.

I really dont know what TF he’s doing. Just retire at the end of the year and quit destroying your legacy. He was considered the best hire in those anonymous coaches polls norlander posts in the offseason so he’s still respected a great deal. Just hang it up before it keeps getting worse. It’s obvious Kentucky was greatly propping him up and now that he’s at a lesser program the wheels have completely fallen off. Losing to 0-3 LSU in a half empty gym. Good grief.
It truly seems as though Cal is becoming the Michael Scott of coaching. His self awareness is totally bankrupt. Maybe he never had it. He worked hard to get to where he is. I don't doubt that. But he did not handle fame and fortune well in the public eye.
