Replacing Allmendinger. I think AJ could be a real surprise next year with the amount of road courses/rovals on the schedule in addition to the street race since the last time he raced full-time in the Cup Series. AJ has improved on the ovals since his run with Kaulig in the Xfinity Series. Would think he gets at least 1 win to get in the playoffs and stick around like Suarez with the Charlotte Roval coming up.

Kind of funny that after Rodney Childers questions NASCAR about the tire issues at Texas on Twitter, that his car gets pulled the next race to be taken back to R&D for inspection, fails inspection and he is suspended 4 races. 🤣

It was kinda cool to watch Almirola & Custer basically stop the lat couple laps to let Brisco pass them so it got enough points to get into final 8. NASCAR cheating? Nah. LMAO.

Kind of debunks your theory that NASCAR threw a race for Chase though...

That race was a shit show from the drop of the green flag.

All the way from the horrid “racing” to the shit show of the last 5 laps.

- CE was out of it at that point.
- This was Team/Ford cheatin.
This is about your baseless conspiracy theory of NASCAR colluding on behalf of Chase Elliott/HMS for the greater good. You said last week NASCAR threw a caution and all of the teams worked together to let him win. Chase held a 6 second lead late in the race yesterday, NASCAR throws a caution. You also said earlier in the season that Byron should have just moved over in the final laps at Darlington to let Logano by while William was trying to win a race himself. Just let someone by? Stewart-Haas let a teammate by but earlier you said it's okay to just move over altering the integrity of the sport. Cheating has gone on in NASCAR since the beginning of the sport. You aren't shedding light on anything breaking earth shattering news. Claiming NASCAR is rigging races for Chase though is ignorant as hell.

They've been doing the roval for a few years now and the racing each time continues to deliver a shit show. Even some of the younger drivers who would be expected to adapt to it better coming from different racing backgrounds get caught up in the mayhem. I still say in this new car and these tracks NASCAR hasn't raced in for decades or on the circuit in ARCA/Truck etc they should be allotted more practice time. NASCAR has significantly added more road course races since the main 2 Sonoma/Watkins Glen where there is a lesser degree of chaos.

Yeah, I think the allure of the roval very quickly went away. That first race a couple years back delivered some very exciting storylines(pretty sure that was the race that Chase totally misjudged turn one late in the race).

But, with this new car they are just stuck to the pavement. The track doesn’t provide a lot of pass opportunities as it is. So when you can drive the hell out of it and not risk slipping the tires, you’re going to get a boring ass race with little to no passing.

The 600 was a great race. I’d say it is either time for charlotte to go back to the oval, or give the fall race to a different track(which won’t happen).

Great points and absolutely agree. The appeal of the rovals went away fast and I think a lot of why they were even being considered had to do with NASCAR wanting to shake things up yet while keeping all of their dates for each track on the schedule. When the schedule freed up they went back to Road America for the first time in decades, now the Chicago street race and added COTA.

Would rather go to actual road courses for different venues on the schedule than turn the ovals into road courses. Have to say I'm not too thrilled about Watkins Glen & Indy Roval back to back next August. I'm one of those who misses the Brickyard and it probably won't be long until attendance falls there too. The 2019 Brickyard 400 still had a similar number in attendance in the 60,000 range as the roval. No doubt INDY can pull off a schedule like that with their experience on the number of road courses and ovals on the schedule. NASCAR has aways to go still.

Not sure this is much of a surprise. I think nobody expected Richard to fund another season for Tyler.

There was also news this weekend that Kurt Busch would have an announcement of some kind this week. I think most are leaning towards a retirement announcement.

If that doesn't warrant a suspension, then nothing in Nascar does. If he would have kept driving, he might have lost a spot or two. Instead, he intentionally hooks a dude going 180 mph. Crazy and dangerous. Luckily no one got hurt.

Then, he lies about it. At least own it.

And Kyle Larson out there walking on egg shells in the interview. I bet if that was any other driver, that interview would have sounded differently.

Tore up 3 cars in the event and his that already won 2 races on 1.5 mile tracks this year. Bubba is right about one thing, not used to racing up front. This is a racing incident, should have moved on, maybe a slight bump him in the corner to show displeasure but could have hurt them both with the recent head injuries in this new car. The composite body on this car can take a little bit of damage. His day was far from over and could've still won. The old days drivers wouldn't take getting shoved like Larson did. Handled his interview maturely. Unfortunate for Christopher Bell to be caught up in something he had no part in.

There is a precedent for it with Kyle Busch running Ron Hornaday into the wall under a caution in the Truck Series as well as Matt Kenseth when he paid back Logano at Martinsville in 2015 to name a couple of instances. Hooking someone in the right rear spinning Kyle straight into the wall across the track with cars coming is reckless.

This isn't a bump and run, dumping someone on the apron of a short track. Not to mention showing his ass falling to the ground on a knee after one shove. I'm sure the apologists will just play it off saying well Earnhardt would do it and there wasn't a problem. I've tried to like the guy but he keeps doing immature shit that makes it hard. One of a few drivers who need to grow up. 23XI can't be too thrilled about him tearing up a car he and Busch won in.

Highly doubt NASCAR has the balls to do anything except a fine which means nothing to them. Bubba is no different and nothing special. Treating him with kid gloves here would be a mistake and NASCAR stands to lose a lot of credibility not being consistent in how they handle these situations. Especially when his teammate literally filling in for in the #45 just announces his retirement the day before from a concussion.

How far Nascar has fallen over the last 10 to 15 years. Tracks full of empty seats and TV ratings are not good. Nascar needs to figure out how to reinvent itself. Personally I think there are too many races and too many tracks. The market is way over saturated. Nascar needs to get back to its roots.

I honestly don't have much faith in the direction of the sport going forward with Steve Phelps as the President. Helton wouldn't be afraid to throw down the gauntlet when he was in charge. Especially with foolishness like we saw yesterday. They did not even call Wallace to the hauler postrace. Hopefully NASCAR acts before someone else gets hurt worse in the wake of these injuries and maybe my stance changes on Phelps. Not going to hold my breath.

North Wilkesboro, returning to Nashville although not the Fairgrounds Speedway shows they are willing to make changes. An article posted above that seems promising about returning to The Rock. Personally I don't want less races on the schedule. They can ditch some of these rovals for sure with the addition of these road courses on the schedule. One or two is fine for a change of pace but anymore loses its luster. I remember a time growing up there were 62 races on the schedule but even Richard Petty, David Pearson, etc wouldn't run all 62.

The downfall of NASCAR started with Brian France. He was horrible at his job and because his family started NASCAR it took a DUI for them to finally oust him but by then he had all but ruined it. The cars are so evenly matched that nobody can pass on most tracks and the aero dependency can make a front runner junk if he has a bad pit stop or gets back in the pack from pit strategy. It's just a horrible product right now and I don't know that they have anyone in place to fix it.

As for the Bubba incident I read an article last night saying that he was upset because "Larson slammed him into the outside wall" and after contact with the wall he "appeared" to intentionally make contact with Larson causing him to spin into the wall. He then exited his car and walked over to Larson where he "appeared" to shove Larson out of frustration. So out of the entire article none of the crap they were spewing was correct. Larson never made any contact with him and he sure didn't slam him into the wall. Did he push him up the track? Yes but if Bubba wants to be a top driver he needs to learn that it was too early in the race to fight someone that hard for 1 spot. He had a good car and would probably have gotten it back had he just backed out of the gas. Then to keep saying that it "appeared" he done this or that when it was obvious was just trying to skirt around the issue so they didn't "appear" to be profiling Bubba because of his race. My guess is NASCAR does nothing and then tries to show Bubba as the victim just like they have for 3 years from the garage door pull rope incident that they still to this day, despite an FBI probe proving otherwise, try to say was a noose.

Bubba deserves a suspension after that move.

Hard to believe a guy would intentionally wreck a dude in such an egregious way after being vocal about the safety of this car.

Then to get out and shove him into a car not knowing if he could have sustained a concussion from the wreck.

All while driving with a number of a NASCAR champ who just announced retirement because of a brain injury from a crash.

A really bad look.

NASCAR seems a bit gimmicky right now with all the crap they are trying. The formats are hard to follow for the average fan much less any new fans. Simplify the product and allow for some creativity with the cars. Force the teams and many manufacturers to come up with their own competitive edge whereas now everyone is basically driving the same car. It is a boring product.

It's like the old IROC series where all the cars were built by the same people and built as equal as possible. I miss the days where a guy would hit on something and smoke the field.

So does Denny pull a Bubba and take out Ross to keep him out of the Championship 4? My guess is no. If you listen to the Dale Jr podcast you know they have a running joke of Denny putting people on his list but never doing anything to any of them but we may see if his threats were just that...threats.

If NASCAR does anything to Bubba it would surprise me, maybe a fine to make it appear they're doing something, but no suspensions. Bubba would have been fine if he had kept going, looked like a pretty light hit into the wall to me. I bet Bubba really fills like a tough guy pushing a little guy like Larson around and Kyle handled it much better than I would've. I would.ve gave him a helmet to the head.

Gotta say, I hate these new cars. The wheels, those are F1, no room for that in NASCAR, and those transaxles, I'm just waiting for front wheel drive. constantly breaking the toe rod on the back! Nascar is Pathetic

So NASCAR docks Custer points, docks SHR owner points, fines SHR and suspends Custer's Crew Chief but Brisco who benefitted by making the next round still gets to advance? If I am an owner and I can sacrifice one car/driver to make sure another advances the fines and suspensions did nothing to deter me from doing exactly what SHR and Custer did if I get that chance. If they had really wanted to stop it from happening in the future they would have assessed everything they did plus removed Brisco and that would have gotten the owner/drivers attention.

Why did Ty turn down a chance to drive the 8 car for his grandfather? I've always thought Ty seemed like a good kid, his brother, not so much.
Thought that was interesting as well that the article stated he declined a ride at RCR in the past. Did not know that happened at the time and thought he would be back with RCR at some point in his career.

NASCAR seemed to have made their mind up last Sunday before an investigation that Briscoe's spot in the playoffs was not going to change. It's like putting the cart before the horse, makes you wonder why even bother if you aren't going to do what NASCAR did several years ago to MWR when they had team communications from Ty Norris for Bowyer to spin out, Brian Vickers to pit late in the race at Richmond to help Truex make the 2013 Chase and wound up putting Ryan Newman in, Truex out. More inconsistency out of NASCAR's rulings.
