Wow! Shouldn't have taken that long to make the call there. Chastain thought he was slick haha. Appeared to be far enough ahead and on the outside to avoid the trouble.

Yeah, he definitely did that thinking he may get away with it. He committed before anyone even started turning into 1. Did not even attempt to make the corner. Then is going to act like the post race interviewer is a dumbass for asking the question.

Reddick was always gonna win, but 9 got an unnecessary - not dirty - bump out of 2nd when he was easily 2nd best.

It is shocking to me that Kyle Busch can't find a sponsor. Just a testament to the fact that Brian France destroyed what was a good product to the point that fans don't attend races any more and companies refuse to inject money into sponsoring a car because they feel the bang for their buck just isn't there anymore.

Will be interesting to see if NASCAR will give a bigger cut of the TV money to it's charters when the agreement is renewed in 2024.

Right now, only 30% is allotted to the teams. If more is given to the charters, then teams will not have to rely on sponsorship dollars as heavily. Drivers with the most talent and not the most money will start to get the rides and drivers salaries will increase.

You have Denny waiting to see if this will happen to committed more money and build his own shop. And you have your most popular star(now retired) also sitting on the edge waiting for an opportunity to take his team cup racing.

I look at pictures of NASCARs over the past 15-20 years and my diecast collection seeing the decline in the amount of the sponsors over the years. ARCA cars are filled with more associate sponsors than Cup cars today. Used to fill the entire car up with sponsor logos, now you're lucky to have 3-4 on the car each race.

I think he's done after 2023 much like Dale Jr in 2017 after dealing with the concussions the year before. Busch was wavering on his commitment to racing before the accident talking about the need for young drivers to come up through the ranks and they have already signed Reddick for 2024 once Busch's deal expires. Bubba extended too. Wouldn't shock me if 23XI Racing expands to a 3rd car eventually if they can get a charter.

One change I wish NASCAR would make among all of the changes they do would be the last 10 laps under green as the SRX Series does. Adjust as needed for bigger tracks like the road courses, etc. Felt that way for years now since the GWC, OT and watching races for years being finished under the yellow before that. At least for short tracks and Superspeedways. It takes the cars a lap and half to hit full speed at Daytona/Talladega and 16 seconds is a lap around Bristol..

Depends on the track. Last 10 at a super speedway would be hard to get a finish.

But somewhere like Martinsville or Bristol would work.

Not necessarily for all superspeedway races. The big one could've wiped out half the field early on like last year's 500. 2020 Daytona 500 was dangerous and nearly lost Ryan Newman doing it the way it is now. The clash days before was the same way. There's really no way to avoid the chaos of a superspeedway race but the fewer the laps, the more chaotic it gets.

I indicated in my post adjust as needed for the track, street races/road courses. I'm tired of seeing superspeedways finish under GWC conditions with meaningful laps left that could have been frozen like SRX rules are. If there's 9 to go at Talladega, it makes zero sense to not throw a red flag than to burn the laps down under yellow for a 2 lap shootout when everyone is desperate to make a move. The cars won't get to full speed in the draft until halfway down the backstretch of the 2nd lap. Plenty can happen in under 10 to go. NASCAR wants the dramatic effect of a 2 lap shootout for excitement. At other tracks it has that effect, not necessary for superspeedways.

So if cars are scattered wrecked across the track, 10 laps start over? Or keep running thru the wreck?

Nascar keeps coming up with these crazy ideas to get fans in the seats how about a figure 8 race. Who doesn't love carnage in the form of 3,500 pound cars colliding?

Won his last road race in the Rolex 24 in 2017. Happy to see him coming back for a one off race.

NASCAR needed to make some changes. They made changes and now the Cup series is the best it’s possibly ever been. It’s nonstop excitement and drama, and has culminated in a crazy regular season finale at Daytona today. They wanted drama lol. They got it.

I love a Superspeedway race and the thrill each time NASCAR goes there. However, if this race ends due to rain with 20 to go, something needs to be re-evaluated. Could have drama and excitement at Bristol to end the regular season than in Florida at the beginning of hurricane season.

We have the same weather possibilities every day for eight months a year down here. It has nothing to do with hurricane season.

*By the way, there’s a 50% chance of rain all day today in Bristol.
