NASCAR thread

I missed it because of crappy cell service. What’d he do (this time)?
Late in the race Ross got into Hamlin who was giving him plenty of room at the bottom while both were in the Top 10. Chastain in a damaged car with a disadvantage aerodynamically to finish 2nd proves the guy can race though he needs to tone it down for his own good. Denny is one of the last guys I'd pick a feud with in the field.

He's great for the sport, fun and NASCAR needs personalities in the worst way. His aggression may cost him a shot at a championship if he doesn't start respecting everyone else on the track and their goals of winning the title. That said, I don't want him to lose his edge but there is a fine line. There will come a point it will catch up to him and must deal with the consequences accordingly. A hard-nosed driver is fun to watch and hope some entertaining rivalries come from this.

I saw this out of him a few years ago after running into Harvick mid-race at Darlington around 2018 in the Xfinity Series and running over his teammates at Daytona with Kaulig Racing a couple years ago. A young Ernie Irvan before our eyes.

Hamlin has ran over drivers for years so it is kind of funny to see it happening to him for once. I still think he might be waiting for when it matters most in the playoffs to even the score. If not from Denny, Ross is on a lot of lists after that 1st crash today.

Ross thinks he is the only driver that matters and to hell with the other 35 out there. Someone is going to teach him that the hard way about the rest of the field. Give and take, be smart and calculated. Ross has gotten this far being aggressive but going balls to wall each time running rough shod over the entire field is going to cost him some decent finishes with an 'all about me' approach. Needs to look at the bigger picture. Letting someone go with 150 laps to go and not looking over your shoulder for payback will do him some good in the long run. Many of the good ones had to learn the same lesson along the way. He's no different.

Most of the complaining being done right now is just repeating the same thing about the "new" drivers when the "veteran" drivers felt they deserved respect. Respect is earned, not given. Have you noticed all of the fat faces on the vets of today? Rubbin' is racin'!!

Rubbin' is racin' is fine when one guy's driver does it. When Busch, Hamlin, Logano, etc do it, everyone loses their shit.

I remember a long, long time ago when fans were complaining about Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s driving an interview with Jr. Johnson one foot on a guard rail, and a mouthful of chew, when he said, "hell if all of the drivers drove like that, there would be less crashes." Nascar doesn't need fat and lazy drivers...rubbin' is racin'. Entnertainment is where their money is.

Yes, from an entertainment perspective, fights on pit road after the race and 'boys have it' like it was intended instead of a loose interpretation makes NASCAR so much fun and love a good feud. A bump and run is fine, adds excitement to racing and pay back keeping it in the memory bank is all apart of a racer's mentality when it happens.

What I like the most about Chastain is his journey to get this point. He's had to fight his way up the ranks driving for some back of the pack teams, made the most out of every opportunity and had to drive hard to reach this stage of his career. Definitely paid his dues going between the Cup, Xfinity & Truck Series for several years. An old school approach that appeals to a lot of fans unlike many who are handed opportunities because of their last name/blood like the Dillons or are marketable with driving abilities secondary.

Now, I think Ross is in good enough equipment that he just needs to let his talent take over and he will find a lot more success in his future. Justin Marks has his back so he has nothing to worry about losing a ride or getting passed over anymore.

If Hamlin does anything I’ll be surprised honestly. He’s had chances.
I have watched Hamlin enough to know he don't mind wrecking anyone but he will wait until it means something. Wrecking him on lap 52 of the race for 8th place doesn't mean enough to get his attention. He will wait until the chase when a bad finish could put Chastain out and then he will lay the bumper to him.

Did not see this coming. RCR losing their best driver.

Richard ran RCR in the ground feeding his silver spoon grandkids.
100%!! I remember Sauter saying in an interview on Live TV 'I have to get out of this Childress shit before I ruin my career' during Busch practice around 2002 or 2003 when driving the AC Delco car for RCR. Harvick on multiple occasions calling them out. Just from the looks of the previews on that reality TV show tells me all I need to know where their focus is. A great career move for Reddick. Like Larson early on, talented but needed better equipment than CGR. A technical alliance with JGR is a huge upgrade from RCR, especially after what we saw Truex do with Furniture Row Racing.

Wow. That didn’t look that bad, compared to other wrecks. Does the HANS device not protect as well when going/hitting backwards?

Pocono seems to be one of the more dangerous tracks in recent years outside of the Superspeedways. Turn 3 was calamity corner all weekend from the ARCA, Truck, Xfinity & Cup Races. Saw the replay of Kahne's wreck a few years back when they extended the wall on pit road. I know Jimmie Johnson/Bubba had some hard hits in Turn 1 in recent years and many point to Johnson's crash to him not being the same after that. He had 3 wins earlier in the 2017 season prior to Pocono that year coming off the 2016 Title and his only win after that was in the Clash.

Very strange. Not that I'm any kind of racing expert, but never heard of this happening before, even to Tiny Lund.

For it being the 1st race in the next gen car at Pocono and tire issues on the bigger tracks this year, Pocono has always had some notable crashes all over the track. One of the biggest ones I can recall was Dale Jr/Steve Park.

An extra small piece of vinyl was placed on the nose under the sponsor wrap which sounds minor but must not have been because I read yesterday that it was the first time a win had been taken from a driver since sometime in the 60's.

What was their to appeal? Even Joe knows when to let one go from time to time Gibbs as one of the biggest cheating POS in the garage area and teams were sternly warned about using outside vendor parts.
