NASCAR thread

Just being curious here but the cars running at the Charlotte Roval had rain tires. Why can’t they be used on the track at Texas?

I don't recall ever seeing a rain delay for 4 days and it was mostly due to mist instead of all out rain. I bet they have spent 100K in fuel on the jet dryers and air titan machines this week.

Man Johnson had a good car the first 100 laps and then Cliff Daniels either made the wrong changes or didn't make enough to keep up with the track as he was reporting being really loose. Then his engine lets go. I have held out hope all year that he would win a race this season but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. He used up all of his good luck in those 7 title runs.

Chase FTW. Thank God.

Harvick tried a POS move and backfired bigly.

He had no choice.

Jones could have passed Hamlin 40 times but instead he hung back and wouldn’t let anyone get near the 11.

If I got fired like Jones did, I’d have dumped Hamlin into the dirt to pass him.

Hoping for 22 or 9. Hate the other 2 guys.

Driver history at Phoenix:

Logano - 23 Starts, 2 Wins, 5 Top 5's, 12 Top 10's, Average Finish 14.35
Elliott - 9 Starts, 0 Wins, 2 Top 5's, 5 Top 10's, Average Finish 13.00
Keselowski - 22 Starts, 0 Wins, 6 Top 5's, 10 Top 10's, Average Finish 13.50
Hamlin - 30 Starts, 2 Wins, 13 Top 5's, 17 Top 10's, Average Finish - 11.27

It has to be Hamlin's to win. I do have to say that NASCAR moving the final race from Miami to Phoenix where Harvick has won 9 times was setting him up to win it all and then he missed the cut. 🤣 🤣

Rooting for Chase first. Then...

Keselowski
Hamlin

Hurricane
Tornado
Earthquake

Slowgano

I like Logano. He drives exactly like Earnhardt senior used to. Just because he is perceived as a spoiled brat, people don’t like him. He’s earned his stripes IMO.

What is more shocking for you that Harvick somehow managed to miss the Championship 4 despite all the wins and points advantages he had or that Jimmie Johnson will finish his career with a 3 1/2 year winless streak? For me it has to be Johnson's winless streak. I know there were a lot of things that happened from switching to the new Camaro and trying to catch up to changing crew chiefs (twice) and one of those had no experience being a crew chief but it's hard to fathom he dropped off that much in such a short time. The deal with Harvick just goes to show no matter how many playoff points you accumulate during the season you still have to perform in each round or you will be eliminated.

Happy that Chase won, seems to be a great kid. I'm a KB fan, but this wasn't his year and I like Truex, but he didn't make it this year either. Dennys okay, not a big fan. Gibbs has to find some horsepower for the Toyotas over the winter, or next year won't be any better.

I'm guessing Jones didn't want to burn any bridges by passing Hamlin. He and MJ might need a driver if Bubba doesn't pan out.

I just don't see Bubba doing anything significant. I think he is a mid pack driver at best and will never be a guy competing for wins and championships.

Won’t watch till they find out who put that noose in Bubbas garage. Sport is far too racist.

sarcasm off

I'm glad Chase won. I like that kid. I'm a guy who picks a favorite team(driver) and that's it, it doesn't budge no matter the results. After Jr retired, I lost interest for a few years and a couple of years ago decided it was time to pick a new driver. Started watching a race with my son, and there was a car that was painted a shade of blue close to UK blue, so I picked that dude.

It was Kyle Larson. The next week, he was back to his normal sponsor which was red in color. I looked at my son and said "Why didn't you tell me he was normally a Louisville color??" But it was too late, that was my dude.

We all know what happened with him and I'm still in his camp but Chase is making me really think about swapping. I watched the Dale Jr podcast that Chase was on and he seems like a really good guy. He kinda won me over when Jr asked him why he still lived in Dawsonville and simply said "It's home." He flies his own plane back and forth to Hendricks shop.

Tldr: Chase is cool.

I agree on Hamlin being the odds on favorite to win Daytona. He has that place figured out.
I am not sure if Larson can acclimate to a new team and get to the final four. Also, Blaney just hasn't proven he is consistent enough yet but this may be his year to put it all together.
Busch may win it but God I hope not.
I keep thinking that Harvick is getting too old to compete at a high level but he keep doing it.

My picks would be

Daytona- Hamlin
Final Four- Kes, Hamlin, Elliott and Truex
Champ- Elliott with a repeat
