NASCAR thread

The comments that Truex made that he thought he had a good enough run that Chase should have backed out of the gas and let him in with less than 20 laps remaining shows how entitled he feels. I mean would he have backed out of the gas and let someone in front of him who over-drove the turn and shot up the track? I can tell you that answer would be a no. If I was a car owner and my driver let someone pass him with 20 to go he would be unemployed the next week.

I know everyone is on a different level but he is the same age as Harvick who has won 9 races this year. I think Hendrick jumped the gun by splitting up Jimmie and Chad thinking it was just a chemistry thing when in reality Chevy got behind the final year before the change over to the Camaro and are still trying to get caught up. Had he left them together I think they would have won this year and been in the chase.

Good for him. He’s in incredible shape and should be able to race as long as he wants to, as long as his age doesn’t start affecting his reaction time.

Dear sweet baby Jesus, please don't let him go to the 48 car.
Petty was going to offer Bubba a small ownership in the Company. What other team will make that kind of offer? Guess getting involved with Petty again, even with his offer, wasn’t worth it.

Sounds like Larson to the 48.

Although if it were up to me, I'd retire the 88 and 48 and bring the 5 and 25 back. The iconic 1997 Daytona 500 photo was just brilliance.

Looks like Bubba to the Jordan Brand team is for real. Should be interesting.

Also, if you’re going to say something ignorant about Wallace, just go scream it into your pillow.

Jordan might want to temper the expectations of winning right away. It's not easy to start up a team in NASCAR and win right away.

My question/thought, some teams struggle because of money, support, access to the best equipment, testing, etcd., will this team have same access as Hamlin?

Hamlin will continue to drive for Gibbs so they will share a lot of the work, including Gibbs supplying Jordan with engines would be my guess.

Damn. Kentucky and Chicagoland both lose races next year.

That sucks, the last 2 Kentucky races have been great.

I haven’t been in three years or so, but really enjoyed the race experience. The racing is never all that great there, honestly. 2019 was a great finish though. One year I went was just a fast single-file parade. Not sure Atlanta is much better, but it is faster, longer and wider. (That’s what she said)

I’m hoping that they can bring back in an IndyCar race, for no other reason than I have never been to one.

2019 I went when the Busch brothers battled.

This past year had Custer's Last Stand

I wonder if they are throwing a bone to the Brickyard? KY Speedway has had bigger crowds at Cup races in the last few years. No KY race means more regional fans go to Indy now.

Dropping the Brickyard race in favor of a the road course is shocking. They considered that one of the elite wins even though the racing usually sucked.

Hamlin goes below the yellow line, passes 4 cars and comes back up onto the track for the win and doesn't get penalized. Nascar says the reason it was okay is because he was trying to avoid a wreck. The odd thing is Steve O'Donell said on Twitter back in 2018 when a driver went below the line and passed that it was an automatic penalty if the driver advanced his position.

Nascar is just like the NCAA they do what they want to who they want. The funny thing they are oblivious to why the stands were empty before covid.

Yeah, that yellow line business should go out the door. Especially on the last lap. If the point of the line is to keep folks from going down and coming back up and causing wrecks, then that shouldn’t matter at the end of the race.

They doubled down today and said it was a clear cut call. The arrogance of their leadership will be the end of NASCAR before it is over. They think they can do anything they want and fans will still watch but they are wrong.

Down to 8 drivers now so who is your pick to take home the championship? I still think Harvick or Hamlin are the favorite based on this years performance as a whole but I feel like Chase Elliott and his team are starting to click and wouldn't be surprised to see him win it. He has ran really well recently.

I’ll go out on a bit of a limb and take Logano.

That race just epitomizes the fact that NASCAR's current HP/Aero package sucks. Logano didn't have the best car but by blocking and taking the air off of Harvick was able to win. They have taken the driver out of the equation for the most part.

Bang! Hes got a 25% shot now.

So Truex, another Gibbs car, is caught cheating before the race by having an illegal rear spoiler and the penalty is start at the back of a 500 mile race (52 laps into the race his is already in 5th place), lose 20 points and lose a crew chief. In reality if they win this week or next week they move on to the finally and the penalty meant nothing. On the other hand Jimmie Johnson had a part failure which caused him to not pass post race inspection and he lost all points for that race which in the end was enough to keep him from making the chase. Nascar needs to be consistent in their rulings. If you fail the post race inspection due to faulty parts and lose points then you should lose all points for any race that you are caught with illegal parts or modifications to your car during pre race inspection.
