Max Green Oldham County

14, 5, and 4 with decent shooting splits (42, 37, 68). He's only going to get better. Would be a nice addition to the backcourt for Kentucky if he decides to portal.

Perry
Johnson
Lewis
Green
Plus one more portal guy

Have a five guard rotation and use Green at the 1-2-3 spots.
You’d have to think he will hit the portal. A guy like that as a freshman , especially considering he wasn’t recruited by anyone… not sure he even had another D1 offer. He’s going to move up the food chain and get some cash to boot

You think oweh doesn’t come back, or are placing him with the fowards? I think oweh is back next year.

My daughter goes to oldham county and I saw max play a lot the past couple years I'm not sure what stuff on the court that you have to deal with?
The kid is super talented, when he would get in a zone he could take over games with his skill. There are just so many other intangible things that just jumped out to coaches. If you didn't see those things it was because you chose not to see them. He is probably right where he needs to be, at a school getting lots of minutes and lots of shots.

That kids talent is off the charts though!

I always thought he would be a good fit at Bellarmine? Did they even offer?

I knew that but left because Bobby would not play him Larry knew he was big time unfortunately the rest did not see it that way including Joe hall
This is just not true. Bird left IU before they’d even had the first practice. And entirely because of his personal issues he was dealing with at the time. It had nothing to do with Knight or playing time.

My dad is best friends with a guy that grew up with Larry. Knew him well, personally. To hear this guy tell it, it was actually both. Larry was dealing with some family stuff and he also wasn't pleased that Knight apparently didn't think too highly of Larry. In particular is overall athletic ability, and ironically enough, his toughness.

Saw him play one time this year and was very impressed - walked away thinking how can a 6’6” guard and leading scorer in state playing in a Major Metro area end up at Holy Cross and not at least NKU or WKU
Just saw he lit Indiana all stars up tonight with 36 points
Never know might be a name to watch in this new portal world

Academics. Maybe he felt if I don't go big time, I'll go to the best school that offers.

Watched him last night.
Didn't see anything special.
I remember watching Almonor's FDU highlights and being very underwhelmed. Fast forward a few months and he's a huge part of our team. Green seems like a kid Pope can put in a position to succeed. But glancing at his numbers, he's playing like 35 minutes a game. If he transfers to a blue blood he's looking at half those minutes, at best.

Good player and I can see the system fit but kind of redundant with what we already have in place for next year, no?
If Oweh comes back we still need a backup wing. Green and Noah could probably play together, but I'd prefer a bigger, more athletic SF who can defend at an SEC level, rebound a little and can down down the occasional 3.

I think 2 power forwards (a stretch 4 type like Carr and a bruiser/shot blocker) are the biggest needs.

To be fair, Rondo, Joe Crawford, and Ramel Bradley were recruited instead of Lofton. All those guys were ranked much higher, two being burger boys. The three previous Mr. Basketballs were Josh Carrier, Brandon Stockton, and Ross Neltner. That's not exactly a great track record for Mr. Basketballs. Tubby probably didn't want to get burned again.
Nope. Member of TSF but Tubby missed it here. IMO he didn’t recruit him because his team defeated Tubby’s sons team in the state title game.

Oweh and Noah are small forwards, and will play small forward for us next year. That's why I didn't place them in the potential guard rotation.

I'm also not sold on Chandler sticking around with us. If they all come back, and we add Green, I still think we add a portal point guard.

G - Portal - Lewis - Perry
G - Johnson - Green - Perry - Chandler
F - Oweh - Green - Noah - Chandler
F - Portal - Portal
C - Garrison - Moreno

I think there's a very small chance Pope goes into next season with an all-freshmen starting backcourt. It's not the way he builds teams.

Agree, oweh’s only issue is he is small for the 3 spot

At 6'4" Oweh might be on the shorter side for a high major SF, but I think he entirely makes up for it on the defensive side with his body, strength, experience, maturity, toughness and rebounding. Likewise, Noah is only roughly 6'5", but he also has some of the same attributes that makes me think he'll be fine defensively at the SF spot also.

I don’t get the not impressive stuff. It’s one thing if this was a one and done freshman we would have to pay millions for. 15ppg as a freshmen anywhere is a very good starting point. Could be very impressive 2-3 years from now and we still need those kind of players. We spent too many years with 8 good players and then a bench that couldn’t contribute when they got the chance. You can’t build depth with top players who will wait for their chance anymore. To me Perry, Noah, and even Green are the guys who will accept 10 mins and not leave immediately. Having 3 or 4 of those guys go a long way when injuries hit. Most 5 stars and most portal players end up being a one year deal. It’s just having some continuity year to year and only replacing a few rather than a full rebuild every year.

6’4, 215 is plenty big enough to play the 3 in college.

Goose Givens and Derek Anderson were 6’4 and played the 3. They were not near as strong as Oweh and they both won titles for us.

Oweh can defend the 1-4 spots against most teams, due to his strength and athleticism.

You know, you hear that "he can guard 1-4" cliche thrown around way too much, and it's not really true that often. But in Oweh's case I think you're right. The 1-3 spots, no question. But I think he's guarded the PF spot some this year and looked to me like he could handle it (which I would have been pretty skeptical about before the season).

It was.

I sat courtside for a game where De'Aron Fox played like dog crap in high school.

It would been interesting to hear fans say, "No too impressive" based on that one game, when he turned out to be an All-SEC performer for us.
That night, not too impressive l
😂 😆 🤣 🙃

Height wise it’s not ideal, physical and strength wise he is good

He was the best player out of Kentucky this last year. He grew late. Still the best. I’m a big Noah fan too.
