To me it means using the University as your personal slush fund to give unheard of high level payoffs to cronies and stooges. :fistbump:

That's the great thing about thowin' yo L's up and yellin' L1CFo... it encompasses the whole university, not just sports.

@DrH. Lecter

L1C4 = An excuse created to explain why Pitino cannot recruit like Cal. Its an excuse why LilBro puts so few players into the league, and in many cases holds them back hurting their draft prospects. Its simply "winning to enhance Pitino's legacy at the expense of the players."

It's just another gimmick from UL to cover up the fact that Pitino can't recruit with Calipari. I put it on the same level as a school that builds shrines to remember a last second shot during the regular season or handing out sweet 16 rings...

It stands for Louisville 1st Card 4 ever.

You must admit that this is probably the lamest attempt at branding ever attempted. If this is the best that your Marketing department could come up with.....then you just need to stick with propaganda. At least the propaganda thing works out better with your fan base.

By propaganda spewed from LilBro Athletics dept I mean ignorant statements such as "America's best college sports town." That was total garbage and left out there to hang...until Sports Illustrated and Forbes etc...came out with their own lists....and Louisville was nowhere to be found.

So that little gem kind of went by the wayside.....as should the laughable L1C4. I like L1C7 much better.

I like it. It makes it known that our athletes are Louisville first and are all about the team and the school. I use #L1C4 all the time as do many of the people I see on Facebook.

Look at this guy, actin' like he knows what it means. [laughing]

I think we could ask a number of guys who would have had a bright future if they didn't go to Louisville, but made the mistake of going there. They may have a solid answer for us. Wayne Blackshear already gave us one.

Was Terry Rozier a Louisville First guy when he refused to wear your jersey on the NBA draft show? He was the only college player who didn't wear his teams jersey. Was Blackshear a Louisville First guy when he blamed Pitino for not using his skills and forcing him to sacrifice HIS game. I've also been told by some close to the situation....that Montrez cannot stand Pitino either. Not very Louisville Firsty.

Terry's jersey issue was totally shoe related. Notice all the Nike school kids had on their college jersey's. All of the Adidas kids did not.

I haven't heard anything about Wayne. Please enlighten me as to what he said and where he said it. I stay pretty much on top of UofL things and I have never once heard this.

Also, I have never heard anything about MegaTrezl either. Please feel free to inform me on that. Why can't he stand Rick?

Here you go....

These quotes out of The Chicago-Tribune pretty much sum up why the elite never reach their full NBA potential at Louisville. (Because it’s Louisville first, remember?)

Wayne Blackshear learned “Louisville first” the hard way. Once a top 10 player in America out of high school, Blackshear’s stock plummeted and now he’s left hoping to earn a spot in San Antonio as an undrafted free agent.

In a recent interview with the Tribune, Blackshear admitted, “I sacrificed my game a lot at Louisville for team success. I tried to fit in too much. I really couldn’t show what I could do.”

Blackshear doesn’t regret going to Louisville, and he said Pitino made him a tougher person, but his own game suffered because of it. Instead of playing his game, he kept quiet and accepted his role in the system.

“I believe I should have had more opportunities to show what I could do. I had to become a spot-up shooter in college — that’s not me. I learned to keep my mouth shut and keep moving forward.”

Typical Louisville fan answer.
"Derp. Blame shoes. Derp."

And as much flak as Wayne got on your home board, you should have seen it. It's not like it was a big secret. You need to do a better job of "staying on top of UofL things".

Here's a link to the article.

In your story Wayne even said he doesn't regret going to Louisville and that Rick made him a tougher person. This sounds like the Tribune trying to take up for their hometown kid and place blame on college. Did they mention that he was hurt and just never recovered? Maybe that had more to do with it than Rick and the L1C4 mantra. Makes me glad to live in a market that doesn't try and make excuses for local players/teams that don't reach their potential.

Completely accurate. These quotes were part of Blackshear's pre-NBA Summer League experience, where he was trying to explain why he didn't live up to his high school hype, where he also declared "I'm going to make an NBA roster". When he got the opportunity to "show what he could do" for the Spurs in the NBA summer league, he didn't show much...averaging 3.5 points and 1.2 rebounds. He simply never lived up to his high school hype, and got all the playing time he needed his entire Louisville career to show what he could do. I don't believe that would have changed if he had played anywhere else, for anybody else.

Why is the Louisville trash like Steelers and Petjurino still allowed to post here?

Excuse me, if I may here but if you stay on top of UL things, how could you not hear about the Blackshear comments? I've hears that it was a huge discussion on the UL boards.

Just curious about that.

I welcome Petjurino to this board. His idiotic posts always provide for some great laughs. There was a thread (last summer I think) where he came on here talking about how Louisville would've won 3 straight national championships if it wouldn't have been for Kentucky, and also said that it could've been 4 if they hadn't lost to Morehead State in 2011. It was priceless!

I don't think that's right myself. Now, he may have been over rated a bit coming out of high school but to say that he couldn't have done been better at another school and for another coach is inaccurate. Some coaches are better at developing talent than other coaches and some coaches (like ours) will put the players ahead of their own success and sometimes their teams success and make sure that the player is developing and showcasing his abilities. Not all coaches and programs are the same when it comes to developing players and showcasing their talents. Some coaches have different priorities and some order those prioririties differently. Our coach puts players first and foremost with a key on quick development and success. Other coaches......cough cough (Pitino) look at players as a means to an end for him. How can he use these players to succeed, instead of saying.....how can I make this kids dream true?

That's the difference and it does matter who and where a kid plays. Sure, Blackshear is going to say he doesn't regret attending Louisville but his comments were not very convincing and actually say otherwise.

Shoe company related?!?!?! Where in the world did you hear that?

Deener talked about it on his show. They were talking about how all of the Nike kids had their jersey's on but all of the Adidas kids did not. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it was a shoe company thing.

Sounds like some type of back problem. Example being "Yeah man I cant lift nothing cuz I got my L1C4 disc in my back acting up on me" Swear to God I've heard somebody say something like that before LMAO.

That is simply a lie. Go back and watch the draft. Look no farther than Frank the Tank....for an Wisconsin Adidas jersey on him. Then to Kelly Oubre of Kansas...he too proudly wears his Kansas Adidas jersey. Sam Decker too from proudly Wisky....Adidas. Delon Wright wears his Utah Under Armour Jersey proudly.

As a matter of fact... Rozier was the only player in the draft. Either you or Deener is full of shit.

Do you really think that we are that stupid? You may lap up the nonsense from Deener and the propaganda dept but don't expect me to do so. You just look foolish...for a rocket scientist.

Plus I went back and looked at Rozier's video where he is wearing the NBA Draft Combine Jersey. That is an Adidas jersey too. You guys are nuts.
