Who would you rather have running our point next year? Acaden Lewis, or Mikel Brown? Or Someone else?

I would be happy with either. I don’t think it will happen, but I would be happy with Magwood as well.
I am hoping we get a veteran PG.
I’m fine with either Brown or Lewis, but I want an experienced guy as well. I don’t want to be leaning on an all Freshman starting backcourt.

I’ll preface by saying while I followed these guys a bit this summer, it was less than past years as there was more uncertainty around recruiting under Pope than Cal.
Personally I view Lewis as a multi year PG option while I view Mikel as someone that his ranking would suggest hopes to be a one and done…and he is a high volume shot attempt guy from my recollection.
Due to that very limited perspective, I would prefer Lewis. I’m interested in seeing the Travis Perry minutes this year and Jasper at OTE. I’m curious how much they might give you at PG combined next year. That knowledge would be helpful in determining what we need at PG in 2025 whether it just be a transfer stud PG, a Lewis and an experienced PG transfer(not stud), or something else.
I would think the offer from Alabama for a similar level player in Brown v Jasper would mean they’re likely to offer him a considerable amount since it’s no longer set aside for JJ. Knowing nothing about his recruitment, I would think Bama makes sense.

Agree with you @FitchandMurray29 as of now. I like presumably multiple years of Lewis and idea of a junior/senior portal guard. Operative words are “as of now”. A lot to be seen. But happy to see UK very much in the mix for either one.
Havnt watched Brown but Lewis is a player. He's real crafty/savvy and is similar around the basket to Jasper.

I've seen Mikel Brown compared to Darius Garland due to his small frame. UConn fans have likened Lewis to Shabazz Napier. Those seem most accurate to me and would track with Lewis being a multi-year guy and Brown being a one-and-done.
I'd take either and be happy. I like Magwood too. However I still think we need a quality upperclassmen transfer portal PG.
Lewis. A month ago the word was Lewis wouldn’t even visit if UK landed JJ. That has changed.
At PG, I would prefer a JR or SR over a FR.

I would want Lewis but think UConn may to much to overcome in this recruitment. So I want a upper classman PG from the portal, and another shooter.
I want whichever one who wants to be here and is willing to commit first.
Either one, honestly both are really good players. I like most would prefer a nice junior or senior guard to go with them. Let the, come along during the year but talent never hurts.
I would take a Brown now as opposed to waiting around for a hypothetical portal player we may or may not get. Let it rain threes.
Just based on highlights, accolades, shooting form and fluidity, I would pick Brown. He always seems to be on balance and squared up when he takes shots. Of course highlight videos don’t usually have many passing or defensive clips, but I have heard he is above average in both categories.
However, many people rave about Acaden’s ability to make shots and toughness. He just looks average when I watch him, with the exception of making acrobatic shots. The question I ask is why is he taking so many difficult shots as a point guard? Aren’t point guards supposed to set others up for an easier shot?

Its not a direct comparison but Acaden reminds me Jalen Brunson in that he is a smart left hander who gets to where he wants to go and is able to finish around the basket.
His shots don't look difficult to me but I'm left handed so maybe that's why. I guess they aren't as difficult as they look atleast.
Brunson gets by not having elite athleticism by being a bulldog so Acaden is gonna probably need to bulk up to get to the highest level
The only problem with that is that we have no idea who is going to be available in the portal. Everyone assumes there will be these great options at each position. We got what we wanted in the portal, with the exception of maybe 2 players and I would not say this is a top 10 team. We are going to have to have talent and, until I can see Travis do it at the college level, I am not convinced he has the foot speed and handles to get his shot against top level talent or get an opportunity for his teammates. Doesn't mean he can't, but he has to prove it first. I prefer to recruit as good as you can at the HS level and then try to retain them and grow from within. The problem with the previous coach was he obviously promised playing time, those players lost interest in competing for a job and he did not recruit to retain.
for those who say they want Perry at PG next year, I want to see if he can defend his position this year. And if he has enough foot speed to play DI. We all know he can shoot. Of course I prolly would have said the same thing about Reed Sheperd before he joined the team.
NOBODY that a P5 school would want is willing to redshirt.
Now if you mean play behind and learn from an experienced PG (playing 10-15mpg) then yeah, you can probably find good players to do that.
