For a guy who is majorly dismissive of message boards and the UK fans who participate on them, Matt Jones, sure pays a serious amount of attention to reading/commenting from posters on this board. Likewise, his self serving and feeble defense of getting busted by Justin Rowland only casts further doubt on Matt’s credibility.

FWIW, I think most of the information Matt gives when he prefaces with something like "I've spoken to a lot of people around the program that would know..." usually ends up being wrong. Or at least that what it seems like here lately. I don't know exactly where he's getting that information, HOB or somewhere else. It may not be his fault and things just change faster than he can give secret inside information about, for example the Wandale Robinson thing.
This is 100 percent correct! Everyone I see that bad mouths Matt Jones are the first ones to show up for his live events... etc. they are obsessed and just jealous because of all the good he has done for this University!!
Robinson was more of Ryan Lemond than Matt Jones... if you would’ve said Peters or Williams you’re analogy would’ve been halfway decent.

Well I just meant that maybe when he gives some inside information, it might be true at the time, but something happens to causes it to fall apart. And things like that is kinda out of his control. For example Wandale told Matt on his show that he wasnt considering Nebraska at all, then he ends up going to Nebraska.
This is true. But if he is gonna "use his platform to bash people here", he should do so honestly. Which he has not always done in the past.
For example, I remember an incident a couple years ago where he claimed to be reading posts from a thread here on the air, except he changed the words in posts he was reading to try make them sound dumber than they actually were. I know this, because at the time, I found the thread, and compared the actual words to the distorted words he said, and found what he'd done to be rather smarmy and deceitful.
There is a common theme to nearly all the criticism of Jones over the years, and that is his tendency to be honesty-impaired. Whether it be the claims of failing to credit sources, citing other people's stuff as his own, stealing info, quote manipulation, or now this incident, criticism of him nearly always seems to relate back to a similar theme of lacking honesty.

I’m glad we have ksr. It keeps the base fired up year round and generally provides a decent amount of depth for the average fan who doesn’t spend buckets of time reading recruiting news, depth charts, or analyzing every play. That said, no one is above fair criticism including ksr or its respective hosts. And there are times it seems like KSR wants to be the story as much as report it. There’s a vanity component to what they do. But I can’t think of a media entity that criticism doesn’t apply toward.
If Matt Jones is dishonest it’s hard for me to tell it. Other things about him seem more obvious...such as his confidence that bleeds into arrogance by some folks’ reasonable interpretation. And he can be pretty rude. That said he has built a media entity of his own, to the benefit of UK and it’s fans, all despite looking like howdy doody and having a voice made for a vow of silence. That’s no small feat.

Matt Jones is the living embodiment of a cultural shift that happened in the last 2 decades, he is a symbol of the possibilities the internet and the culture surrounding it brought to our society, someone who rose to the top on their own, without the intervention of big corporations, without the intervention of the mainstream media.
Whether or not you like his poltical stance doesn’t really matter, what matters is that you understand what his existence represents. Matt as a star and a personality was created by the internet, for the internet. Forged by an enviroment where all kinds of culture can flourish with little to no direct influence from the mainstream media and companies. A place where all interactions are raw, unadulterated human nature, where trends, communities and the culture they partake in are all created by the love, the hatred, the passion, opinions and tastes of the people who coexist in this enviroment. A free place, a place where society can thrive without the manipulations of the bureaucratic world above.
But this slowly changed, as the internet grew in size and more people integrated it in their daily lives, it was a matter of time before it was infected with the plague that roamed the world outside. And infected it was.
It didn’t take long before corporations tried to sneak their way into this new culture, in this new untouched land of potential money and influence.
With television slowly losing its relevance as a form of entertainment to most younger demographics and newspapers becoming as obsolete as it gets, the media jumped on the bandwagon and slowly tried to regain its influence over society through the internet.
It took some time for the transition to happen, but it still happened. All platforms who were once places for this new culture to develop suddenly started to change, slowly but surely, the antithesis of the mainstream media became what it once sought to avoid, replace, or even destroy.
With all that said, let’s go back to Matt Vs Catsillustrated.
The 1st most followed Kentucky sports covered on the internet is catsillustrated, backed by a a multi-millionaire company that built an empire of their own by making content on multiple spheres of entertainment at the same time, producing astronomically high amounts of high-budget industrialized content.
Matt Jones, on the other hand, is a single man who gathered a state-wide fanbase with his charisma and everchanging content. A man who survived the storm and still stands as an icon of the internet’s power, how a culture of passion and expression, fueled by the very presence of those who enjoy and take part in it, can make a man known across the whole state simply for being eccentric and expressing passion towards the Kentucky sports we all learned to love.
Matt, love him or hate him, is the avatar of our culture, a culture that is being slowly torn apart and consumed by the greed of those in power.
Don’t let our culture of passion be erased and replaced by a culture of greed.

I think the "smashing someone in the back of the head" part would certainly be a pretty big difference between, say, sharing a login account and violently mugging someone. But maybe your experience with internet bandits has left you with "a few stitches or a death" (perhaps from Microsoft), so what do I know?
