Kentucky Baseball 2022

What about the camps coming up? Someone mentioned Coach Guilliams rthe camps?

Heard Estep might be looking around.

Anyone hear that Hill got a pretty sweet deal in Florida? If it’s true, damn.

Ramsey out to where Fanning is?
That was me and yes Guilliams ran the youth camps. My son has attended them for several years.

My son had something similar at a D1 mid-major 20 years ago. Tuition/housing wasn't 100%, more like 75% IIR, but he got books and a meal plan. Irks me that these schools are still slicing up these scholarships piecemeal.
I assume they have to spread it out some since there’s not much to start with. This thread has really blown up. Obviously there’s interest in baseball.

Exactly what I said earlier... build it , they will come. MSU 15k+ last night!

It sure is fun watching the regionals full stadiums great baseball everyone looks like they’re having a good time. Beer is the drink of choice for some and there’s not a chance in France that we can be like this with mingione.

We would have a full stadium if we had a really competitive team. An innovative AD could really make some money with a good program, good seating and beer sales (even though I don’t drink myself). A student section for partying in right or left field would really improve the atmosphere and boost student attendance. What do I know…I’m just a guy on a message board.

It's been very annoying around here. Baseball fans coming out of the woodworks. Suddenly know every player's name. Lol
Mentioned this the other day. 3 weeks ago fans not family or girlfriends couldn't name 3 players on the team, now they're all college baseball experts. Guaranteed they had to look up Omaha to find out where it is.

TN got a huge scheduling break too...2 mid-majors in Regional and probably the youngest team in college baseball in SR as opponents.....and all at home.

Don't know what it's like now but when son played Miss St he said it was awesome. After last game they had huge cookout for his team and as they boarded team bus they formed lines for them to walk thru and applauded. He said it made them feel special. Oh....his team won 2 of 3 that series.

It seems like UK should try to do what U of L has done; that is use its "northern" location and focus recruiting on the midwest to build a power. But of course in college baseball it often comes down to getting the right coach. UK needs its Dan McDonnell or Tim Corbin.

Does anyone have full access to D1 Baseball.com to see the full list of UK's players in the transfer portal?
I would like to see the most current list.

So... let's go over what we have going on for 2022 as of now.

1B - ???
No clear leader here. Harmon and Collett both gone and in all reality we have no one in the pipeline that we know can will play here. Maybe you could see UK moving Church or Plastiak to that side if both stay.

2B - ???
The I guess obvious choice is for the transfer coming in Felker.

Estep can play there, clearly.

SS – Ritter. No doubt.

3B – Estep/Plastiak/Church

I expect 1 or 2 of these guys to leave, but as of now, they are all three still at UK to my knowledge. So, the race is on. Also wouldn’t surprise me to see at least one change positions.

C- Kessler/Rubalcaba

I have a hard time seeing Kessler returning. Him coming back would make this interesting, but I think he leaves and Rubalcaba takes the position.

DH – Anu

If he sticks around then DH is his again.

RF- Rhodes

Again, if he sticks around we know where he will be.

CF – Schultz

If he sticks around. They could move him back to second, but I doubt they do so. Probably keep him in CF after a fall of learning.

LF - ???

We had one starter and two backup OFs and all 3 left. McCarthy is a utility freshman that redshirted this year, so maybe he could play there. Liebert played a touch and allegedly can play OF. Anu remains a poor defensive option. I think we have one incoming freshman listed as an OF, James McCoy. He’s from GA and also plays 1B? Always hard to gauge freshmen.

Friday - Stupp
Saturday - Harney/Hazelwood
Sunday - Lee

This actually gets interesting. Harney could take over Saturday, or could move to Friday. Hazelwood could return, or leave, and he could fill one of those roles, maybe taking over for Lee. Hagenow could play in, but his year was weird. Do or can any of the 2021 freshmen take a step forward to starters (Hudepohl or Strickland?)

Too early. Have to figure UK will hit the portal/JUCOs hard over the next few weeks.

let’s go hire the Dallas Baptist coach now has to be better than what we have. Hell I don’t even know his name but I’m sure we could give him a raise

Dan Heefner been there since 2008 and he's done great. 13 seasons, minus 2020, and he's been to the tournament 10 times. 7 in a row. DBU was not even D1 until 2004.

Ramsey to OSU

Solid program. Last went to the NCAA tournament in 19. I think Ramsey just needs to kind of reset the mental mechanism and he'll be fine. I think sometimes a player can get in their own head on things, especially when they go bad, and it just spirals.

It’s possible incoming freshman Christian Howe could be 1B of the future for UK. Was slated to just pitch but heard they told him
they would give him a chance to do both. All he has done this year is lead the nation in HRs, have nearly 80 RBIs and hit over .500. Have seen him play a couple times and seen him hit a few balls over 400’ easily. Also believe he’s like 9-1 on mound.

I’ve heard Danville’s baseball field has a very short fence. I haven’t seen it so I’m not sure. If anyone knows for certain please chime in.

I’ve only heard of the two, Hill and Ramsey
Looks like we picked a kid from EKU. Darren Williams. He committed about four hours ago. Saw it on Twitter. Some information:

Starting pitcher Darren Williams earned second team all-conference recognition. Williams, a 6-foot-6 redshirt junior, ended the season with a 3-8 record and a 4.10 ERA. In 83 and one-third innings he struck out 92 batters and limited opponents to a .238 average. He ranked second in strike outs, second in innings pitched, sixth in opposing batting average and seventh in ERA. The right-hander was at his best over the final eight of his 13 starts, posting a 3-3 record with a 2.41 ERA and 62 strike outs in 56 innings of work. He allowed just 15 earned runs and 15 walks during that time and limited batters to a .204 average. He had six quality starts over that period. In his final start, the Maysville, Kentucky native struck out a career-best 11 hitters.

Looks like we are trying to just fill out our roster by say “who wants to try their hand at pitching in the SEC”😂😂😂…. This is going to be a total shit show

It’s 305-335-300 w 10’ fence around it, and 12’ fence in CF. I’ve seen him hit a few and it really wouldn’t of mattered what field they were on. I mean would he 20 if it was a bigger field? Probably not, but think he’s still a guy who may be able to step in and perform next year. He also pitches so playing 1B could be a smart move. Plays RF/3B/2B in HS but hes 6’4 has good hands and is a big target.
