Jaden McDaniels announcement date

I really can't imagine Blackshear coming. That's an awful lot of size on our roster to contend with: Sestina, McDaniels, EJ, Richards, Brooks. Some of those guys can play the 3, but that will be tough with the amount of guards we have coming in.

Blackshear probably goes to a place where he has a bit clearer role and not a lot in his way.
Makes sense

Was just coming to post this.

UK's official twitter account being a bit brazen here about recruiting.

This basically confirms for me that we got McDaniels. They wouldn't post something like this if there was a chance they'd lose out on a top-5 recruit just days later.

I think it’s meant in regards to Juzang who committed two days ago.

But like I said, I don't think they'd post this if there was a chance we'd lose a top 5 talent to a school like Washington or San Diego State just days later. That's just asking to be the butt of every recruiting joke for the next few months.

I don't think Cal is sharing any insider info with whoever runs the UK twitter account. I think they're being happy we got the #1 recruiting class once again.

Additionally, FWIW, JM is not top 5 on ESPN/Rivals or 247

I totally get where you’re coming from....but we don’t have a consistent post scorer on the roster and Blackshear would start over Richards, Sestina, and Montgomery and I think he knows that. Our wings are where we have a glut of talent. Somebody from the Brooks, McDaniels, Whitney, Allen group isn’t going to get enough minutes. Blackshear starts at the 5 if he comes here and Richards and Sestina possibly fall out of the rotation.

Yeah, but that's only looking at this from our need. Of course as fans we can use Blackshear and stash Sestina/Richards on the bench. But how does that truly work out?

I guess we can certainly get KB to come here, but I think someone else has to leave (or will leave), either EJ stays in the draft or I could see Sestina deciding to go elsewhere. Sestina committed here before we grabbed McDaniels, Juzang and Boorks (I think).. now I know those guys don't play the same position.. but adding more guards might push guys like Whitney and Brooks into the 3-4 positions as times.. which will affect the the PF/C position.

Juzang buzz for UK--some posters come posting it's been done.

Funny how they've got inside info but can't post it anonymously until 247 states it.

I was way ahead on JM. Even posted about the trainers before anyone was even talking about them. Ive said all I can say on here, not going to betray someones trust with things they've asked me to keep off here especially if I posted it a lot would just find ways to give me shit about it.

My apologies, Top-10 (as if it really matters.)

And I'm not sure you know exactly how those twitter guys work.

Team SID's (Sports Information Directors) run the twitter account, and they are very in-tune with the team. He/She will travel with the team, they are at almost every practice, they're in the locker room before and after every game, they are constantly in the coaches offices helping them put stuff together, and they talk to the coaches on staff more than just about anybody else in the athletic department.

Ever notice those graphics and videos they do on all the guys that signed? Did you notice how quickly they posted ones for Juzang?

Do you think the twitter guy just magically put all of that together (hours worth of work for anyone who knows high level video like that) in 20 minutes following the announcement?

Or is it far more likely that the coaching staff communicated to the SID WELL in advance that Juzang had committed already and that he was announcing it Friday, to give him enough time to put everything together for it and draft a press release?

But you're right, I'm sure the twitter guy knows nothing.

With the guards and wings we have for this next season I just can't see Cal willing to risk an amazing season rolling with EJ AND Richards as his horses on the block. Especially with a player like Blackshear hanging out there for the taking(if he doesn't go pro). Pieces to the puzzle are too perfect for Cal not to do what it takes. Opportunities to line up a balanced, talented, experienced roster like this could be are hard to come by, doubly so with the short time players stay anymore.
It is funny people say I am sunshine pumper but I think yall are damn crazy for thinking we are getting blackshear . EJ and RIchards with Sestina brooks and mcdaniels is a top 5 front court. That is 1 top 10 pick , another who could be a top 20 pick in 1-2 years , a top 4 grad transfer , EJ who was a top 10 recruit and Richards who was a top 20 recruit and a player who has gotten better in year 2 then year 1. Now if for some reason EJ stays in the draft I am sure Cal will put on the full court press for Blackshear but I suspect he stays in the draft and goes overseas if he can't make an NBA team . But who knows all I am saying is counting on Blackshear is a full's errand.

To be fair @Rupp'sRunt has been on the McDaniels/UK beat now for months. Whether that means he has inside info, who knows? But he didn't try to ride the wave in.

What does way ahead mean?

Can you link your posts on this?

I've been on this board or its predecessors since the Jamal Magloire recruitment. Every so often some one will take all the publicly existing information, make a few safe guesses, and try to ride that into the posture of an 'insider.' The only true insider I can ever remember in more than 20 years was the kid who came out of no where and ended up being a high school teammate of Wenyen Gabriel. Everyone else has eventually been exposed or lost the trust of even the most gullible. So, just be patient and it'll happen again.

Mcdaniels was a safe guess in February? You should've "guessed" lol

About the only one I remember he missed. He’s like 98% I’m crystal ball picks. Only recruiting analyst I trust.
Back in 2011 he called Marquis Teague race 60/40 in favor of UofL. And that was when a lot of people where flipping their picks to UK.

The Knox pick is difficult to hold against anyone. It's not like Evan went against the tide on that one.

Quite frankly if we are nitpicking one or two picks per class. Then that means he's very good at his job and someone we should pay attention to when he makes a pick.

Hes a UL fan so he was probably holding out hope for Teague.
