It's looking really good for Acaden Lewis and Caleb Wilson to UK

Mullins deciding on the 23rd. And maybe most importantly is doing so at 6 pm. You have to think if he was deciding IU that he’d do something at his school/open to the public/etc. (to be fair those arrangements could be made over the next couple weeks)

Acaden was quoted after his UConn visit that UConn was taking two guards and one big in this class.

Putting two and two together makes me feel better and better about Acaden to UK.

I was hoping we could land Wilson and Lewis but it’s not looking good for Wilson.
I wouldn’t give up on Wilson just yet. As other people have said he seems enamored with any school he just visited and the longer it goes without him committing the better.
Also if we get Lewis to commit in the next couple weeks then he’ll be in his ear about coming here!

It’s nice having a coach who doesn’t put all his eggs in one basket, with Plan B being jump into a recruitment at the last minute or mash square pegs into round holes. Wilson may get Garrison’d if he doesn’t figure out where he wants to be real quick.
If Cenac or Bundalo are willing to commit now, take it. I like Wilson, but he is not a must have if you get one of these 2 guys.

I just hope we can get Acaden wrapped up soon after his visit.

Yea, I was thinking along these same lines….
The risk of course is Wilson still has pending visits to other schools, including UT this weekend it looks like. Could be nothing at all but just doesn't seem like a coincidence that Bundalo would so abruptly cancel his visit just announced yesterday on the same day Pope meets again with Wilson.

Visits and commitments are separate items for a 18 year old going to high profile colleges where girls are willing to make them feel “comfortable” and they are treated like a VIP all weekend and see if he can get a insane NIL offer he will want matched. Even if he committed to UK I think a school like UNC would still take a visit to lure him there.

Don't care what anyone says about not having to land elite top 10 guys anymore because of the portal. That's BS. BBN will want the elite guys eventually. If we miss on Wilson this year, Pope gets a pass obviously; but eventually, you've got to prove you can swim with the recruiting sharks if you're at Kentucky.

I agree. We want elite talent, I agree. I just don’t think there is a huge difference between Cenac and Wilson. If we lose Wilson, but get Cenac, I think we are fine. Cenac is more of a 4/5 where Wilson is more of a 4/3. If we do get Cenac, I think it is more likely teammate’s like Chandler and Noah get more time at the 3 vs 2.

SOS, I don’t think you should be too worried about whether or not UK gets high school kids ranked in the top 10 by recruiting services. Of course, it’s your right to worry about whatever aspect you think is important. But I think anyone that believes getting top 10 ranked kids is necessary to win a championship in the current CBB environment should at least consider the basis on which the recruiting services rank the players (as well as the data since the NIL & portal era). Look up what On3 states about what they base their ranking on – hint: it’s explicitly not “who will be the best college player.”

For me as a fan, as long and Pope doesn’t let a high school OAD recruit prevent him from recruiting a better one-year player from the portal at the same position, I’m fine with it. Bring them both in and let them compete for the starting spot and even supplement each other. But bringing in these kids and promising them either a starting position and/or that you won’t recruit the same position from the portal just so you can tout having 1st round draft picks is counterproductive to winning in college.
