In my mind, he needed to change everything he was doing, especially his priorities.
Of course he does better with blue chip freshmen, but who doesn't? I mean, what coach out there couldn't win with the rosters Cal had from 09-17?
He gets credit for recruiting those guys, but that recruiting went away when Orlando left, then came back when Orlando came back.
But, when he doesn't have a transcendent blue chip player, he sucks and if you're going to run this farm system, you better get transcendent players every year and since we know that’s not sustainable, it shouldn't be a thing here.
But dont get it twisted, I've been trying to be fair. When Cal does a good job, I am one of the first ones to publicly call it out. So yeah, I did give him props for changing his coaching staff and bringing in experienced rosters, but like I said, he needed to change everything and he didn’t. 9-16 happened, Saint Peters happened and now we're sitting on the bubble with a legit college FF roster, because he’s so damn stubborn and refuses to adapt.
I could go on all night, but I won't.
Bottom line, he lost his mojo and he's too stubborn to change enough to be successful in today’s college game.
