GABP's biggest design flaw was being built with 42,000+ seats just because Hamilton County/the city was being fleeced to pay for whatever got built. 33-35k was probably ideal for an intimate, downtown park.

I find the perception change of the opiod crisis interesting. When it was pill mills flooding Appalachia with oxy for years it was viewed as a bunch of lazy rednecks getting high. When the same issue and its after-effects hit suburbia then it became a "crisis". I've heard people talk about the impact of an addict "from a good family" when they're from certain areas but the same isn't said about a similar urban/Appalachian family. What prism we view the problem through colors if/when we think the problem is big enough to fix.

Blacks had the same problem with crack in the 80's and early 90's.

Thinning the herd is a common joke, but IMO it's about as honest as it gets when those making decisions put people's lives on a path to be impacted by said drugs.

It isn't just the addicts that go through it.

That's not exactly the point. When people try to come off of an addiction, sometimes they need something to help with it depending on the severity of their addiction.

I get what you're saying... my point was that marijuana already seems to be readily available, yet people choose to use heroin instead.

PTI made a good point in that if instead of being prescribed pain pills, prescribe medical marijuana instead, and never get people hooked in the first place.

If Football Kates don't acapella Tee Grizzley's 'First Day Out' and then go bonkers at the beat drop and tear up the locker room this season I'm going to be very disappointed.

You even have a 'I'm at home when I'm down here in Lexington' and multiple other 'Kentucky' references - it was truly meant to be, imo.

THAT's the song you need to play for your team, '73.

Nobody has anything to say about the Floyd/McGregor presser? [laughing] ...that dude is unreal. (he's going to get killed)

Rome should be a good listen today.

McGregor's jacket was a nice touch.

Anybody use a grocery delivery service? How are the prices and what is your experience with freshness?

I loathe the grocery store. Really enjoy going to the butcher but would prefer everything else could get dropped off at my door and never step into a grocer again.

<- pro thinning the herd. If you're dumb enough to get yourself addicted to heroin or crack or coke or whatever and OD, well <insert Ivan Drago meme>.

Family is coming into town for the weekend and younger brother is bringing me some THC oil. He's positive we're nearing the apocolyse so he loaded up on like 1k worth of it. [laughing] He's been using the wax too, which he said was a lot stronger than the oil.

Thanks for the stadium tips, guys. Definetely want to do a week long trip in the near future. Preferably the New England area. Seems like it'd be the most "baseball" leg to do. Boston/NY/Philly/DC. Something like that. Right now I'm leaning toward doing Baltimore @ Cleveland in September. Friday night, fireworks, sons favorite team, Labor Day week. Not the ideal stadium but not a lot of AL teams nearby and I really want to let him take an O's game while they still have Machado.

Haven't listened to a single minute of KSR since the PMT guys were on. Just don't have the desire. I'm sure mags doesn't worry that taking 7 months off will have a negative effect on his listenership but I kinda do. HAVING SAID THAT, BJW is loyal to the core. I'm sure it'll be fine.

Speaking of HAVING SAID THAT, super stoked about Curb coming back. Will fill that Fall Sunday night void perfectly so I won't have to feel guilty about not watching some terrible Sunday Night football game between who gives a damn and I don't care! Also, GoT this week?? Wow. It's about time. I'm rewatching the office for like that 18th time. Need some fresh decapitation and titties in my life.

Speaking of titties, people replying "nice" to anything related to the number 69 will never not be funny to me. Richard Simmons turns 69 today *31 replies all saying nice* Cracks me up every time.

MIL is really sick and its understandabley making my wife super stressed. We took her whole family (like 8 people plus significant others) to Myrtle beach this past spring as you may recall. I had no desire to go there because I'm a Gulf Coast Man, however, it was a lot cheaper to get a place for that many people down there so, whatever. WELL NOWWW they have booked themselves a place outside of Destin for the beginning of next month and GUESS WHO DEMANDS WE GO WITH THEM THATS RIGHT MY WIFE. So now dad is trying to plan a vacation on 2 weeks notice and can't say a damn negative thing about it due to the circumstances I mentioned at the beginning of this paragraph. Life's a beach lol

Yep - if you're dumb enough to take that medicine the doctor gave you to treat your pain, then F you!

Counterpoint: highest percentage (not all of course) of people who are dying from these things are low-life junkies. So there is some correlation to making bad life choices too.

I actually went back and listened to most of Ellen/Megan Calipari and Chantel Stoops on with Jen Nime and Mrs. Tyler. It was good. Other than that, I'm listening to books on Audible. I mentioned Heads in Beds and now I've just started Hillbilly Elegy. I would rather read, but that puts me to sleep so I listen while I am driving around and while I'm exercising.

An 1/8 used to cost 50 bucks back in the mid 90s and an 1/8 will get you high about 50 times, so yes it's way cheaper than heroin it's just not even remotely similar.

Eh, what?

Mash I'm not talking about Mexican press with seeds in a blunt like you fellas are fond of. I'm talking about the primo shit in a one hitter.

That explains that

I pay about 10 a gram, but it really IS one hit and done. And I'm not what anyone would ever mistake for a no tolerance lightweight.

10$ a gram? For one hit shit? I'm not so much questioning you, I know you have the credentials, but 20 years ago a 1/4 bag was 50-100 depending on quality and that's what 7.5-8 grams? I've been out if the game so long I have no idea what it's like now :pimp:

At what point do you hold people accountable for their own actions? I'm not suggesting addicts don't get help but it's too easy to lay this all on the doctors and big pharma. They're culpable in their practices that offer kick backs to doctors to prescribe brand X but so are the patients who are all too willing to overstate their pain knowing they'll get the good stuff.

What lacks these days is the education. There was a point in time when you couldn't turn on the TV or open a magazine/newspaper and not see an anti-drug message.

I've always felt you just legalize all drugs, which disarms most of the criminal side of the business and allow people to make their own decisions as to whether or not they want to be sucking D's for a hit. Perhaps that's just asinine because we live in a society that by and large wants to tell people what they can or can't do with their own bodies.

WTF??

Most of these people get addicted BECAUSE OF THEIR DOCTOR.

And the missing link to solving the issue is more anti drug tv ads? Ok dude.

They really should have put the yard in OTR where the casino is now. Readymade neighborhood, looking out into the skyline and Mt. Auburn, with Mt. Adams in the background. Of course, that cripples the riverfront, but it would have been awesome.
What if I told you that when it was actually studied, it turned out that an MLB stadium would not fit in that site.

People forget that.

The Depth Chart Podcast with Roush and Freddie, FTW. They've been down in Hoover covering SEC Media Days all week and have released a podcast every evening.

It can be a little too much serious in depth about SEC football but I'm getting that itch again so I enjoy.

Counterpoint: The problem appears to be regional. I would argue that means that while doctors made the prescriptions, people were taking it recreationally first, and then going to doctors because they knew they'd get a prescription (e.g, Pain Clinics). It's not like people in our region just seem to get hurt more than the average person and require pain pills.

I think it starts with education. There's obviously many layers to it but to shout that it's all because of doctors is not only false but lazy. Most abusers are 18-25 and I highly doubt they're going to get Oxycontin from their doctors for their back pain, chronic arthritis or whatever old people shit befalls us as time goes on. Their friends get a hold of some, give to their friends and then it becomes a means of obtaining to keep getting high. Again, when do you hold someone personally accountable for their actions? If a 22 year old drinks a bottle of bleach, are you going to blame Wal-Mart for selling that to them?

-addicts should and do receive consequences from their behavior. I'm just talkin bout physiology.

-dr's and pharmacists are being held responsible more and more...but we need to get after big pharma is a large way.

-if it ain't broken or bleeding docs very often don't know what to do. Musculoskeletal and nerve pain are very hard to properly diagnose/cure...so docs throw opiates at the problem. Bad idea. Some of it comes from compassion....but way too much comes from greed or the desire to get your c**k sucked in trade for prescriptions.

-prohibition of weed is idiotic/wrongheaded on a number of levels. Medical marijuana shouldn't have to be debated...its a no brainer.

If Wal Mart were a highly educated, respected, well compensated, regulated, licensed professional, expert authority on the usage of bleach, and directed a customer to drink said product, then yes, I would blame them.

august-west: I buy 'co-op' style (go in with several others to reduce the cost), if I was buying 1/8's or 1/4's it probably runs about 15 per gram.

So, would you agree a highly educated, respected, well compensated, regulated, licensed professional, expert authority on prescription drugs isn't likely to risk their career so some 18-25 year old can get high with his buds?

Thought Mo Egger was solid last week as a fill in on KSR. His take about college bball needing to go to 4 on 4 was awful but he had a point that the college game in general sucks ass and has become a sport that most of country only watches in March because of coaches micromanaging and mucking up the game with junk zones.

You are way overplaying the highly educated, respected, blablblalbbal. Get a pad of prescription notes, or whatever, and voila. You got thousands of pills. You're golden. Take it to the dipshit behind the glass at your local meijer, or to the sketchy pain clinic in the bad part of town that looks like it's a vapor shop, and you're redneck rich af. Get you some buddies and take a vacation to florida for thousands upon thousands of pills. People got this stuff by the ton for nothing. It wasn't prescribed by some highly educated and respected dweeb. It's wholesale product pushed by the ton by greedy mfers who were highly compensated for getting rid of it at any cost. It's a lot cheaper than weed, too. These folks stay out of their minds all day for the price of an 8th of good grass. From an addict standpoint, it's a lot better value, it's a lot easier to get ahold of, and a lot easier to hide/pass a drug test/etc.

Go watch a documentary or something.

Purdue Pharma intentionally lied about their product to doctors who in turn used this misinformation to create an addiction culture in this country we have never seen before. All this to make $$$

Who else are you going to F'ing blame?

This isn't personal to me. Luckily, I can say it hasn't gotten anyone close to me but it pissed me off when a big corporation Fs over people to make billions.

How it doesn't bother you is beyond me.

Gotcha.

Speaking of the legalization debate, if I were smart I would move to one of the states that has legalized pot and learn the business inside out. I'd move back here once it's legalized and be ready to be the MaryJane King of Paducah.
