You've never heard of Tony Hincliffe? What exactly are people on Team Blue doing for comedy?

I say this as someone who doesn't want to miss out on good comedy, regardless of source of inspiration.

I don’t know who half the comics mentioned are. Same with pop singers. Hard for me to keep up with much of anything anymore.

Shane Gillis is the only one out of that group that I find has depth. Most "newer" comedians seem extremely shallow in that they just want to trash people with crowd work then act appalled when someone calls them on their bullshit. Even a comedian like Jimmy Carr, who I genuinely find funny, is in the habit of doing this now.

I enjoy guys like Stavy, Tony and Schultz for what they are and am not dumb enough to act like they aren't funny but I'm a bit of a comedy purist who thinks it's another form of art that should be holding up the mirror to society. You can be brazenly crass, rude and outright mean if you can make a point about the greater human condition (which obviously the greats like Chappell, Carlin and Burr do well) but, being mean for the sake of being an asshole as some type of personality is so wrapped up in the culture these days and incredibly unappealing, at least to me.

Basically, the era of sarcasm is so entrenched these days that it just feels like no one is serious anymore and I think comedy is weirdly a good place to have those types of conversations. That is, unless more people would be willing to listen to Sam Harris and Jordan Peterson hold a joint forum, etc.

Also. Tom and Bert can pound sand IMO. The next time Bert says something funny is the first time I'll have heard him say something funny. Dude is famous for taking his shirt off and being friends with Rogan.

Dude, those Ginko berries are a non-starter. That dirty tree has to go. One berry fell into my car with top down and I smelled bum ass for 12 hours, not knowing the culprit till I launched that plump fücker at my neighbor’s house in NJ.

Layoffs are brutal business. Sad.

Stoops is a proud SOB. I think he bails before he taints his legacy… money aside.

My Yankees are awful. Love them, but knew there were giant holes in the pitching and douchebaggery on the field. So, I’ve been going to bed early and avoiding the inevitable.

- That was a 2-day recovery before I was ready to post some randoms. Getting old sucks.

- Schem’s crushed it again. Despite the shitty game, probably one of the better Extravs I can remember in a while, both pre- and post-.

- On the postgame note…I officially no longer like espresso martinis. They take the next day liver shivers to another level. (Trust I’ll still be having one next time someone offers, though 🤦🏻‍♂️).

- Goose’s pumpkin pie shots, as always: 😍. Crack.

- kook brought the absolute 🔥🔥🔥 with the gnocchi bolognese. Even the next generation were running around with bowls of it, and they normally exclusively stay with the CFA nugs.

- Finally met kook jr. after reading about him on here for years. That guy is going places, well done, buddy.

- Limewater in Frankfort, on the river, last Thursday night. Best comparison I have is the old Homestead out Harrodsburg Rd. that was owned by the Murrays (formerly of Merrick Inn fame). An old farm estate house converted to a high-end restaurant. Fantastic.

- Football was pretty awesome for me this weekend. Cats…lulz. As a Bears fan…lulz. And CF’s team lost in an absolute heartbreaker in the playoff semifinals for his flag team, 21-20 (silver lining, he had a huge receiving touchdown right before the end of the game to put us up 20 to 14, but then we missed the PAT, the other team scores last second, and got their extra point 🤦🏻‍♂️😩🤬). They had been dominating all season and were undefeated.

- Have nothing to offer on the UK Football side that hasn’t already been said. I mean…dammit. Just depressing.

- More for a longer FITYERO post later (hop on over there anytime you want, wcc), but I’ve been eating and drinking like an absolute asshole after crushing it end of summer. Time to clean it up.

- Basketball. Go Cats.

The only other time I saw him was the roast of Tom Brady and thought he was hilarious. I don’t know why they invited a roast guy - might as well have invited Jeff Ross - and I have no clue why he agreed because now the people “that don’t care about politics one way or the other” ( 🙄 ) will always hate him.

Give it a few weeks and nobody will give a 💩 about what he said.

There are some lesbians who people try to argue are funny but aren’t. At some point you have to tell a joke?

For me, it’s Bill Burr and Nate Bergatze. They are head and shoulders above anyone else out there. But I’m admittedly out of the loop on a lot of stuff these days.

Lampanelli stopped standup about 5 yrs ago. Her schtick about being fat and pounding BBC became stale. She started just going off on audiences and losing it on stage. Shes now a life coach.

Schumer tried to put out too much while she was the hot comic. Unfortunately for her she "stole" or used other comics premises for a good portion of her set. The material took a dive when other comics caught on and she couldnt write original stuff without the sex schtick.

You would probably enjoy Shane Gillis. I think Andrew Schulz's last special is one for the ages but he can rub some people the wrong way. For me, he's amazing.

Those guys, to me, are the successors to Burr and Bargatze.

There are a ton of great comics out there right now, even at the regional level. In Cincinnati alone, you have guys like Blake Hammond, Mark Chalifoux, and Josh Sneed, who are just about as good as anyone you see nationally. Lee Kimbrell has been touring with Theo Von and regularly performs at Go Bananas, so the city is just stacked with strong comics (a couple of really funny female comics as well).

Some other relatlvely-unknown comics who I think are fantastic: Brad Wenzel, Dan LaMorte (PTI, you'd probably appreciate him. He's gone from weighing something like 350 pounds to becoming an ultramarathoner, and he's autistic. Very funny guy, would be good if you ever need entertainment for a running event, etc.), Laura Peek, and Dustin Nickerson.

Nobody is getting cancelled bc dudes like Tony end up feeding off the energy. He did what he does. I don’t think he is the best but I do think he is funny. I love Shane Gillis, love the Bad Friends guys in that setting and thought Tony was hilarious on the Brady roast. I did think this joke sucked though bc of delivery

With that said though, it was an incredibly poor decision to have a roaster in an event like that. The reality is that while dudes our age and younger who like comedy know Tony, the VAST majority of people don’t. So they won’t know what he does, his background or his schtick. Thus when he does what he does, it will offend them. The goal isn’t to make comedic statements, it’s to win elections. And just as Democrats are foolish for their desires for their candidates to have “pure” positions, it’s silly for Republicans to think saying offensive stuff should be cool just bc they think it’s cool. The goal is to win.

Middle aged white dudes telling other people not to be offended may feel good, but ain’t gonna make them less offended. I have no idea if it will make a difference or not. But in a close election, where the biggest knock against Trump is his behavior/judgment, it was a stupid decision

I love rap that can be pretty vulgar. I am not sure I would ask those rappers to do those songs to kick off a rally for my presidential candidate. Time and place

Agree with Irish. There's a line between creativity and being an asshole to get a reaction. During a Comedy Central Roast, Amy Schumer told Steve-O it should've been him who died instead of Ryan Dunn. Telling someone they should've been killed in a horrific car accident instead of their friend isn't creative, it's just trying to out-asshole everyone else. When guys like Greg Giraldo and Patrice O'Neal died, those roasts weren't as much fun anymore. At least we still had Norm and Gilbert for awhile longer.

The smartest thing each campaign can do with a week left in what will be a close election...is not piss off voters and try to act normal. Instead of complaining that some are offended, ask yourself why it makes sense to hire someone to verbally shit on a specific group of voters (who once again, happen to be brown). When your campaign is all about trashing Mexicans, Haitians, and Puerto Ricans, who exactly is that for? Maybe it works out for him and he wins, but those attacks against "the others" shouldn't be normalized in American politics.

Yeah, that's what everyone has said for the last 3 pages. Thanks for the aggregate, WikiRichie.

This is a really good post.

Rogan might be doing her a favor in not going to her - she has been a disaster in every other interview format.

You or anyone asked about this JDrum? I notice you keep posting it weekly without comment, but it's kinda ridiculous imo. Patterson been #2 on the DC for what, 6 weeks, while out until emergency? Hairston been #1 for like 4. K
I used to post it with "UPDATED" in front of it, and I could not do that with a straight look on my face anymore.

We asked once, and they kinda just brushed it off as "It doesn't matter," kinda something they are required to do but have no interest in properly maintaining.

It’s fun as shit listening to a post game interview with a coach that has some semblance of sense when it comes to building a team and running his system with them. Boner soup.
