Other than the 7 dead horses, Churchill indeed had a fantastic week.
Not kidding, the people I was at a derby party with that didn’t care about it besides they were from KY, that’s all they talked about and I’m pretty sure that translates nationwide. Bad look.

But Churchill and the folks looked amazing. I still tell all my out of state friends every time they ask about the Derby, lemme show you Keeneland. It’s ten times the track and scenery. Churchill is for out of towners.

It’s the best track and I’ve been to a few in Florida. After seeing them and how people dress, they’re basically casinos. Degenerates everywhere whereas Keeneland will take a bunch of college kids money too but at least they’re mostly dressed to the 9s and just plan on blowing it.

Keeneland is great...when it is open. It is the best track in the country but Saratoga and Del Mar aren't far behind.

The people that live near and populate those tracks feel the same way about them as we do Keeneland.

One thing Keeneland could do is update The Clubhouse area downstairs before you walk outside on the lawn . You can maintain all of the purity of the grounds and keep the atmosphere you want while modernizing that area some. And even do it with classic taste.

It needs it. It’s like an outdated 1980’s country club snackbar. That area should have better amenities.

Both those tracks are very nice @UK_Dallas i agree. But neither are Keeneland. Keeneland as someone else said is pure horse country and horses and racing. Sure the airport is right there but everything else is horse farms and stables.

No one else has that I’ve been to. Maybe Belmont? Idk.

And yes @IsRichieGonnaStart they should update those. Not sure why they haven’t. Make them 10/10. They definitely have the money after the last few years of always selling out.

From all reports the new First Turn Club at Churchill that looks like a miniature soccer stadium from inside the track is set up on the inside to have a waf first class sports book operating out of it.

K.

How much does the average General Studies UK grad make his first year out of school? Like $150k? More??
They make nothing, because they probably can't find a job. Obviously you're being sarcastic, but are their people that still go to university and get a liberal arts/general studies BA? Assuming they're not going to immediately take the LSAT and apply to law school, well then....
I would suggest they take out an additonal *but small" student loan and then enroll over at BCTC to learn a trade. Properly motivated. they could probably make close to 6 figures per year within 5 years
I'm clearly stating the obvious here, but, for most, obtaining an undergrad degree is about the biggest waste time and money you can indulge in (except for the small minority of undergrads that are pursuing a marketable degree)
I mean, is there any doubt at all, that a person of average intelligence can self-study and get a better "general knowledge" education than they can get at a university?

Come on, every day kids are signing up for those classes. Maybe more so because they’re easy.

Saratoga and the town of Saratoga Springs are just unreal during that late Summer meet. It’s kind of like a wooden Keeneland.

The town comes alive and people rent these really cool older homes with wrap around porches within walking distance of the track and the bars and restaurants. It’s like an adult college campus feel with a curious by fun mix of New Yorkers and Kentuckians.

In 2019 I made my maiden and only voyage thus far to Saratoga. My brother in law had a piece of a horse racing on the Friday of The Whitney Race Weekend. The horse ends up winning, I get thrown into the winner’s circle and then into this champion’s room for cocktails on the house.

We walk over to Siro’s (great restaurant with an outdoor patio bar that reminded me the old Azalea’s in Louisville) and run into these dudes from Jersey that legit looked like extras in the Sopranos. Muscle shirts, gold chains, slick backed hair, the works.

They won a decent chunk by betting on my bro in law’s horse and took to us immediately. Kept calling us “Good Kentucky Guys.” They invite us into their private room and comp us food and booze for the entire night. There was this gentleman playing Rat Pack tunes on the piano the whole night. It was just an incredible evening that I didn’t want to end.

See never been there so just from tv looks amazing

It's convenient if you are taking a train out there. The stop is right above the upper parking lot in the photo. The train yards are to the left. The stands were terrible. The clientele was what you'd see in movies showing horse racing degenerate gamblers. Just a terrible experience.

First world problems man. I’m getting the “you already told me that” look more and more frequently. Implicit in the look is the scold “you’d remember if you hadn’t been under the influence when you said it the first/fifth time.”

Disagree on Belmont. Beautiful facilities. I was there when Pharoah won so everyone was expecting history. That may have affected crowd, but it was much like a day at Keeneland or Churchill on Derby Day.

Saratoga is fabulous. It is on par with Keeneland.
Lake George. August fun in USNY.

Devin Booker just went bananas in 3q. 36 points easy.

Sunburnt AF restoring my deck.

Ceramic coating and PPF my ride tomorrow. Just in time for my other cars engine light to pop on. 1 car for three drivers. Yuck.

Grant Hill is a turd.

Great story. The bolded is what makes me want want to take a trip there.
Santa Anita was similar in that you can walk from your hotel,AirBnB, and walk through downtown Acadia to the track.
Chief is correct in terms of the surroundings, inside the track premises it's great. Outside of the track and it's perimeter, Belmont is awful. Used to go to the Stakes every year. In non-triple crown threat years, tix were two bucks and allowed for re-entry. Back of track we had an RV, played whiffleball, grilled and drank. Good time, but nowhere near any of the tracks with character. Similar neighborhood to Churchill, old and seen better days.

Both the Suns owner and Jokic were in the wrong there but Jokic did put a pretty clear forearm shiv into the guys chest. Don't know if dude had Serbian flashbacks or what, but the league isn't going to take too kindly to it's newest owner getting "pushed" by a player.

Agree it doesn't deserve a suspension and the Suns owner doesn't need to be holding on to the ball but Jokic acting like he didn't do anything then claiming the guy touched him first is false.

-The buzz b/w the the Turf Race and Derby is just awesome. Everything just instantly amplifies. Favorite 1:30 of the year.

-Got my ass kicked all Saturday. Like, couldn't even get a show parlay started. Only had one P6/P5/P4 get to the second leg. Brutal.

-Rode the wave pretty successfully all day.. Had been nearly a year since I went hard like that and boy was I feeling feisty. Woke up feeling pretty rough, shoved a bunch of vitamins in, nap, lunch, workout, sauna and closed last night down with a dram. Feeling solid today.

-Rich is right, Keeneland could use a facelift in the clubhouse. Looks similar to the old Turf Club at CD, the new Turf Club is fantastic. Regardless, the scenery out there is unmatched. Toga obviously has an argument and Del Mar looks ridiculous. Believe Belmont just approved a massive upgrade project.

-Playoff hockey has been fantastic.

-Last major event for a couple month. Good. Ready to settle in. We've been running nonstop for months.

-Have a friend that's a NBA scout, he has been telling me for a few years that UK is WAY behind in facilities. I doubt that's why we're losing 1st weekend games but it is ridiculous. Think Alabama or OSU are way behind in football facilities? Cal literally hasn't had an upgrade by the University since he arrived.

What kind of upgrades do they need nowadays?

They have a weight room, film room, basketball courts (I assume).

Llama, he said have of our government is dual citizenship Israel and we send them money.

Clearly UK isn't spending enough on it's Jewish clientele, or ThroughBlue's brain leak spilled into GYERO again.

Hit a trifecta and exacta on two undercard races Saturday and played with house money rest of the day. Had Two Phil's and AofE in a tribox with Tapit Trice, but Mage got me. Buddy had the tri though and it paid nicely.

Perfect weather day. Derby never disappoints!

Maybe if Cal could get over his ego and work with Barnhart something would happen. Barnhart obviously shares some blame in the situation, but their stupid relationship problems are harming the program. They need to get their heads out of their asses over there.
