I think the Bud Light "cancellation" - unlike other protests of companies - is going to have real legs. Unlike something like Starbucks - where there's not really a viable alternative from a scale perspective - changing your light beer has basically zero switching costs. Not making this a political thing, but I think that brand is poison in the eyes of a big chunk of the core light beer drinking population. While it might not hurt AB Inbev that much, I do think sales of BL and Bud are going to be down double-digits for a long time.

You got to wonder what they were thinking. What was the benefit? Kinda reminds me of when the Dixie Chicks tanked their career.

I’m not commenting on the morality of it- just of the strategy.

Usually I assume people that make these big dumb decisions know something I don’t and it’ll pay off in the end but this seems like a spectacularly dumb decision with no upside.

Maybe InBev is trying to drive everyone to Miller Lite?

These younger generations don’t drink like older ones, and I am guessing crappy big brand beer is feeling it the most. So I’m assuming reaching out to “influencers” is an attempt to tap into that market.

I think the transgender thing - especially a goofball like that Dylan dude - really touched a nerve. Especially right after the shooting in Nashville.

I didn't really care about the transgender thing... My issue with BL was that video from their VP complaining about how BL was fratty and they want to get away from that. It seems that marketing 101 should cover not insulting your customers. Sorry I spent thousands on your beer in college, babe.

That has to be it. In my rare times at bars lately, I’ve noticed 20-something “men” ordering rounds of High Noons.

Friend of mine says Cal will be speaking to a bunch of big hitters this week in Cincinnati regarding NIL.
Supposedly looking at 5 year financial commitments. Does that mean he intends to stay longer?
If you don't think it's silly already (PTI), how much would you have to be worth to throw away maybe a million on NIL? 20 million? Business write-off?

Oh yeah that reminds me- Willy, WCC do you guys want to carpool?

Part of it was pressure to keep a rating for investors (CEI score) from the lobbyist group Human Rights Campaign. They send lists of things corporations must do to keep their rating, and if they dont do them, HRC will drop your score which effects how they are viewed by the major shareholders. If you want to choose Mulvany to rep your company, no problem, but you shouldn't be strong armed into it by a group with an agenda - from either side.

-Sounds like a lower level marketing person made the decision, and it's apparently not a campaign, but just a little thing they occasionally do for certain "influencers". Regardless, know your audience and maybe don't double down to further insult your core base by calling them fratty and needing to move away from that. This is Bud Light not Dom. Especially considering as a light beer company that's advertised to that very demo for the last 50 years.

-I've completely moved away from beer. Not proud of it but I just can't do it anymore. Drink more than 2 and I feel like I ate an entire loaf of bread. I have no idea how you all drink those heavy beers. Seltzer, Champs, Bourbs, Wine is the rotation. Hell, I rarely drink if the boys are awake. What's happened to me? What a pu$$y.

-Big Time CP Baseball. "I like my team". Took an early L first game out but mostly b/c of little shit we can easily clean up. Grabbed the 2nd game on some stellar lock down D and felt pretty confident we're several runs better than both teams in the long run. Once the bats come alive we're gonna be hell on wheels.

-Who are these people/couples on reels that act out ironic life scenarios? It's really odd. Especially the ones using their kids. I love a middle age dad/family humor but most of the folks are cringe worthy.

-Tell you who's not cringe, erick lottary with RNG. Cracks me up.

-Bat Cats playing tough in Baton Rouge. These guys appear to be for real. Need to get over to a game soon.

I don't drink beer near like I used to, but threw things back last week on a lake trip with my buddy and our dad's. Shew, beer definitely does things when consumed in quantity that aren't good.

Was all boated and tired last night. Weighed myself when I got home yesterday (up 12 lbs from when I left) and again this morning, down 8 lbs in 12 hours just by pissing 😄

Looking forward to weighing in after gym and sauna today.

It’s pretty dumb and immature I guess, but I have quite a few red friends that only drank BL and will now never drink it again. Their choice as well as BLs but man, that happened fast. Not sure how they’ll ever get that market share back. You can’t start making “fratty” commercials again it’ll be the whole don’t piss on me and tell me it’s raining.

There’s a gas station in Nicholasville that has two huge “This Is Dew Country!” Signs, now that’s knowing your market.

Just got back into beer for the first time in years. My face was so bloated the next day it was crazy. Also, poos. Much worse after beers.

I’ve always found it comical when I hear these big beer brand companies spend hundreds of millions of $$ on advertising. Is that much market share really at stake?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to knock a couple $$ off your price rather than spend all that $$ on advertising? For beer kept in the house, I just buy whatever is cheapest between the top 3-4 brands.

Thinking back to when I was growing up and in college - man what a god awful shit selection for alcohol. 95% of the beer was bud/Miller/natty/corona/shitty awful beers. It was that or Jim beam or wine. The amount and variety of alcohol now is unreal. Just a much better drinking experience for younger people. Grapefruit high noons are phenomenal.

-just goes to show you you can't make everyone happy. Not a fan of telling folks to "stay in their lane" as that limits growth...but cheap yellow beer isn't exactly the nectar of the gods. It's a blue collar/College boy beer.

^I think it's stupid to boycott stuff you like (chik Fila or BL) over culture war garbage. It's a diversion from real issues such as economics/foreign policy. We're in really bad shape...but let's argue about stupid shit while pols on both sides are going in raw/making it really rough on future generations.

-go cats.

BORGS seem like a pretty great new trend. Would've been fun at a tailgate. Granted B$ was kinda doing that circa 99 with 1/2 2L of Coke/Jim Beam.

Yeah and basically the only tequila was Cuervo gold. Man, when people order that these days I tell them, “you know they make good tequila now, right?”

Considering how much the KSR debate helped Matt Bevin 8 years ago I'm really interested to see how Cameron backing out of the debate is going to affect the May primary.
It won't. He's got a considerable lead over everyone in the primary.

Anybody know someone that sells Golden Tee Arcade games around Central Kentucky? Ready to buy one for the basement and not seeing any options online.

My son's birthday was yesterday and he wanted crab legs. So . . . in his mind, the only place that does crab legs the way he wanted them was Red Lobster. He couldn't be talked out of this. He is 13 now and made a "big boy" decision. I know this may surprise most of you on here, but the Bowling Green Red Lobster might be the saddest place on earth. The early 00's decor, the 75 or older clientele, plus the overpriced and overcooked freezer-burnt selections made it an eye opening experience for the ol' boy. It was very much a rite of passage - becoming a man by learning how life can be a disappointment. It was quite an afternoon for him.

The wife and I went out grocery shopping at Walmart yesterday evening (not bragging) and there were tons of Bud Light available if you wanted some. 30 pack prices knocked down to around 24 bucks and will probably drop further. There rest of their demesto selection appeared to have been pilfered through at high volume.

Pretty hilarious that the progressives now have to pretend like they enjoy Bud Light in order to be on the RIGHT SIDE OF COMMERCIALISM. I love anything with that level of irony.

-My Gma in WV firmly believes that Red Lobster is the finest restaurant there ever was.

-I’ve lived in some pretty gay places and I’ve never seen a gay person order anything but vodka and certainly not a domestic light beer of any kind.

Gayest order ever, a Carolyn Kennedy. It’s a vodka, soda, cran. Just say that pal now you’re getting up charged. Same with Cuba Libre and whatnot, it just means the bar is charging you $2 more for a rum and coke.

Are you wanting the $450 box arcade game or the $3000 bad ass set up that takes a LED TV to set up?

I still like beer. You guys will get a chuckle out of this- every Friday at 5:30, I ask my wife, “honey you know what time it is? It’s Beer 30.” lol

Feel free to use that one yourself.
I like to throw in a “hey, it’s 5:00 (normal quitting time for traditional jobs + normal start of happy hour pricing for a lot of places) somewhere! (referencing the different time zones we recognize in society)” when I’m on vacation and get a beer before it’s ACTUALLY 5:00. Really messes with people, in a silly way.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone say that and then look around and laugh… tell you what, I’d have a lot of nickels.

Middle-aged dudes think they’re really funny and are hitting everyone with a real zinger when they drop those little nuggets.

Man per capita trans folks have to have the most cultural influence right now. Rallying people. Pissing people off. Affecting careers and brands. I don’t think I’ve even met more than a few in my life.

Weird times.
Go to a middle or high school today. They’re everywhere.

Idk about that because I don’t go to schools very often but I do know that when I’m at Kroger or just in public in general, I see at least one person that I think to myself, I’m not sure which one that is…

To be fair though, it’s usually because they’re the shape of a circle and have at least a strand of purple hair that could be cut for either sex and boobs that could also go either way.

Now those people are everywhere for sure.
