Got a lunch appointment today with a friend who owns an event production business and is in the process of retiring. Do we have any business attorneys on the board?

Just got a quick little question about mergers and acquisitions, asset valuation, the tax consequences of depreciating equipment, net present value, liquidity, financing, etc. Just a simple little ask.

Thanks!

How ironic

There's going to come a day, and I honestly hope it happens soon, when an entire team just shuts down the day before a National Championship or some other huge game, and just refuses to play until changes are made. Really, really hope to see it soon. You wanna see a school be forced to react? Wait until they have to cancel the Sugar Bowl because every single player on the UGA/Bama/Clempson/etc roster just throws up deuces and quits.

I think JMI is more of an issue than Barnhar(d)t. I think his hands are tied with that contract. Now that contract was very good for UK. It is a lot more than just a radio deal. Essentially all of the marketing was outsourced to JMI. I didn't realize that JMI has a couple of suites that sell as well.

I've seen it suggested that the staff's newest coaches just suck at recruiting. NIL needs some work, sure, but the decommits are mostly based off pretty normal stuff (and not a failed bid war or anything).

Makes sense tbh.

That's very true. When you have a ton of turnover you're going to see lose those long term relationships. Hell, you have 3(maybe4) OCs in as many years.

SAECATFAN'S KROGER FIELD RENOVATIONS

Remove the 40 endzone suites. Replace them with new suites in the Cooper Drive overhang between the upper/lower levels. Those things are pretty Busch IMO. Cheapens the whole stadium.

Build endzone club levels. Premium open air seating. Open area for drinks, gatherings, etc. Indoor area for inclement conditions. (What freaking Cardinal Stadium was built with 25 years ago in the then Brown-Williamson Club - now Angel's Envy Club).

Could be pretty dope. JMO.

Got to sit in one of those corner suites back in 2016 and was unimpressed. May be diff now but small tvs, cheap carpet, shared bathrooms, etc. Did have unlimited hot dogs though.

I had no idea they had Chick Fil A & also Skyline until last game. Definitely was aware of LaRosa's though, good grief. In my sections they seem to run about about an 85% sell rate among patrons, which is disappointing to see.

Can probably count on one hand how many times I've eaten literally anything at the stadium in the last 10-15 years...thanks in large part to the always-ridiculous food spread at the Extravaganza.

Sometimes just new blood is needed and especially the enthusiasm that comes with it. Barnhart has been here 20 years and has done a lot of good things but this the kind of job that you maybe max out around 10-15 years.
I know I'm stating the obvious but he is set in his ways. Mitch, like most people who are even a little successful and doing it for a long time, is not going to change who he is or how he does things. Right now, even if we have an AD who stays less than 5 years, let them come in and get people excited about NIL, about alcohol sales, and maybe is willing to apply some pressure some coaches who are performing below expectations.

Yeah I definitely see a college football team getting to the national championship and then refusing to play in it. Good call krazykats.

Mid 1980s Commonwealth Stadium. Let's say vs. Clemson. 12 years old - your dad gives you a $10 bill. The old school end zone seats, pre-expansion. Head to the concession stand and get some nachos and a coke in an awesome SEC collector's type cup. Head back to the seats. Dad says keep the change. Watch the Marc(k)s brothers in the backfield. Michael Perry playing DT on the other side. Block K helmets.

Man, those were good times. Would kill to go back.

UK could make some money off of their baseball and soccer gear, but seemingly have no interest. Same with alternative football unis. Too exotic and possibly un-Christian, I suppose.
I love the men's soccer jerseys. The ones last year were 🔥 (wide alternating blue and white vertical stripes). I looked for where I could buy one and couldn't find them anywhere. I even e-mailed someone in the athletics department and he said they weren't available. This year's jerseys are still good too.

People like to shit on the power K for WE SUCKED THEN but just ignore that we went on probation and were left for dead by the NCAA shortly after going to the interlocking UK.

Anyway, Kentucky Football is what it is, but it has meant a lot to a lot of people for generations. Just like 73's nostalgic post about the endzone seats and SEC commemorative cups. He didn't mention whether UK won or not, just that it was an awesome memory with his formerly Tubby-estranged Dad. I think most all of us feel similar.

So yea, it would mean a lot to see that power K trotted out once or twice a season with blue jerseys and white pants. F'n sue us for loving your football program before you could find Lexington on a map, Mitch.

Retire.

Just crawling around under the end zone bleachers dodging empty pints getting dropped and collecting 15+ collector cups a game. As a young rogue, man that was LIVING.

Well from KSR today it sounds like yesterdays show really shook a tree and a bunch of apples fell into Mitch’s lap aka emails from tons of upset people and he’s about to change all that.

I'm fine if you all use this as my obituary.

Rack this

Ah. Big Cat mentioned they went there Saturday after they lost everything at the races. Thought it was random, guess it’s a good place to watch college football though.

So who goes to Dave & Busters on purpose? I mean, other than krazykats or some 3-hour corporate outing?

Truly curious about this.

Pretty sure you can build a pretty successful business model with just 3 hour corporate outings and people with 10 kids.

People still speak of it highly in some circles but the last time I went, I think it was Tampa it was a completely disgusting poo hole. Like everything was greasy, the machines and games not just the food. Dark and dingy. Felt like a poor adults chuckle cheese.
