My friend Cynthia won the womens divison, about an hour slower than your boy. She’s in her 60s.
I think she won her age group. The fastest woman was sub 24hrs. I'm pretty sure I chatted with some of your friend's crew at Blue Heron.

One thing that I've learned at these races is that you can't judge someone by how they look or their age at all. People that I think would be super fast end up missing cut-offs and people that look like they just got off a 2 week bender or just knitted a sweater are consistent and fast and need very little attention at aid stations. The amount of planning and logistics that go into these things is crazy as well.

Taking an 8 month old on a European Trip is insanity. You'll get over, "we're going to still travel and do things like we used to." They beat it out of you.

-left our then 8 and 3 year olds with our nanny when we went Europe...hope to get em there at some point (had a dream trip scheduled summer of 20...**** you covid). Had no desire to drag them around unfamiliar environs at that age.

-truism: travelling with older kids also sucks.

We took G to New York for one of those games, we obviously lost, and it was hell. He was 5 months old and didn't sleep at all. Had grandparents with us, and that was helpful, but just made it more frustrating accepting reality. Since he turned 4-5 he's been a good little travel partner. Currently the 2 year old is dominating the scene and we're just waiting it out.

I will say, a baby is much easier to travel with compared to a 2-3 year old. They're tyrants.

Still recovering from the get together ("Mancation" as the crew so uninspiringly calls it). I will say, Liquid I.V. is legit. It may not be a Vita Coco, but it's pretty dang efficient.

What a glorious weekend from Mother Nature. A little cool and breezy, but that's the way I like it. Our tailgate ended up with about 25-30 of our guys coming in from all over the country - Boston, Anaheim, Seattle, Alvaton, Phoenix, Nashville, etc. Hadn't seen a few of those guys since '96. Really great to cut it up with those old farts.

Was gonna come by the extrav but we were located on the Southeast corner of the stadium right by the entrance gate. Gatton Business tailgate right next to us and a buddy put me on their guest list. Went over and grabbed a stiff drink (unnecessary) and a PHat dog (necessary). Also didn't really know where to walk to as the coordinates of the extrav has changed, perhaps?

The tent text to us had a 55 inch TV showing the shitshow in Knoxville. The hatred BBN has for the Big Orange is real. That kick took the wind out of our sails heading into the Kroge. Took until the 3rd quarter before things started heading in the right direction.

Left the game and stayed at the tailgate until the crowd left. Decided it was a great idea to walk to McCarthy's from the stadium since no Uber was readily available to pick up 12 middle aged dads. It was a great little nostalgic walk in the cool autumn air . . . for the first 30 minutes. Then it became a labor. But, BY GOD we got there . . . and stuck out like sore thumbs. Shut it down a little after 2:30. God, we're old.

Then we walked to Tolly Ho. What a mistake that was. Took for EVER to get food. Not worth it IMO.

Anyway, I'm digging this fewer responsibility situation. I'm not going to leave my wife and kids or anything, but I see the appeal. 😝

How 'bout them CATS? Just when you think they're done, they pull you back in. The UT game will not be good for my health.

Saturday from right before half to the end was quite the f*cking rollercoaster.

Was pissed as all get out over the 3rd down, decline the penalty, FG. Texting, talking shit, posting on catpaw. livid. Pussy Chicken Shit Football. Goddammit.

Reached a real low point when Levis ran straight into the locker room after having his shoulder worked on. Like, F*CK... we're getting ready to be worked by MSU. UT and UGA are going to beat us by 50+. Can we even beat Mizzou, Vandy and UL without Levis? Season over. Just a dismal feeling trying to process the letdown season we're facing.

But seeing that tough SOB jog out of the tunnel and realizing he was gonna play... back in the game. Instant jolt of energy. LFG.

Then we just casually force our will and put MSU to bed with relative ease. Has to be one of the strangest games I can remember.

- For me, vacations must include the phrase “from my parenting duties” to truly madly deeply enjoy. Just keeping it 💯 as always.

- I mean, I hate golf but what a trip for our boy @RibsAndWhiteBread . Happy for you.

- In-laws are doing a river cruise in Europe now. Prague, Vienna, Germany, etc. Having a good ol’ time. I need some Europe or at least NYC in my life.

- Met our new radio guy Goose Gibbons at Texas Roadhouse up this way a few years back, and made sure to say in front of him to my mom, “Goose dropped 41 against Duke to win the ‘78 championship.” He deserved as much.

- I don’t karaoke often, maybe every couple of years, but I’ve found it’s all a bunch of semi-pros now. What happened to the “tongue-in-cheek” performances. It’s like it’s all about people living out lost dreams now. Great voice Deidra with the maroon hair. You rocked “Wrecking Ball” but the performance still left me a bit melancholy.

- I know this will once again get all of GYERO against me, but I don’t hate Tennessee much more than every other MFer in our league. I hate them and Florida probably a bit more but not much more. I liked seeing Bama and their 15 years of stacked recruiting classes eat shit.

- But man, I’d really like to pop them again in Neyland. Especially at night time. F’ing Jack Daniels and that bullshit orange.

- FC Cincinnati- how bout our boys?

- OMG social media you won’t believe this , for the 500,000th time in the last decade of football a ball carrier jumped over a defender trying to tackle him as if he were a hurdler!!!!,?!!! Got an extra yard!!!! Ball carrier is now cheat code!!!!

- November probably because of global warming keeps becoming a better and better month as I get older.

This is a dumb f*cking take.

I think what you're trying to say is, 'Life comes at you fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it'.

Won't go into details other than say Sloot is a Saint for missing the second half to accompany a friend on an EMS ride.

Ride around with me one day and I’ll show you a thing or two about tongue-in-cheek karaoke.

Nobody gonna call False on Chad karaoke every few years?

🤔

I’ve done it once, ever. (That I can recall)

Regulate at A1A with the legendary AP.com, who’s actually ringing the opening bell tomorrow morning at the NYSE! 👀

We crushed it, obvs.

Edit: Also murked David Lee Roth ‘Gigolo ” solo at Phoenix Hill 🔥

Hummala bebhuhla zeebuhla boobuhla

The proper way to do Tolly Ho, when the line is ridiculous:

Go to the back of the line. Get out cell phone, call Tolly Ho and place a pickup order. Grab a table and then, go pick up your order at the cash register and return to table.

Work smarter, not harder...

Toppin will be at the 3 with Collins at the 4 and Oscar at the 5 so he is already wrong about that.

* I'm not sure we've ever had a bye week that was as well timed as this one. Not only because we're going on the road against a top-5 team, but it's a winnable (albeit extremely tough) game, and we've been dealing with injuries all year. That extra 7 days with no competition is desperately needed right now.

* Sorry to brag, but over the weekend (twice!!!) I backed up a 6-foot, single axle trailer into a tight spot in my driveway. I didn't run anything over. It only required minimal adjustments. No Austin Powers here. And the neighbors didn't even come out and start laughing at me. Pretty easy, actually.

* There was a year or so where we spent an awful lot of time in the karaoke area of Phoenix Hill -- me, the ex, and the Bellydancers. We'd get there around 10 or 11, and stay until we were too drunk to stand up. I miss that old dump.

And yes, BBdK pulled out the most random song ever, and absolutely DESTROYED it.

One of the all-time "what in TF is going on" moments in Wodie Crew history, actually.

* It absolutely NEVER fails that some desperate asshole will get up on stage at karaoke and do a Kid Rock/Cheryl Crow duet of Picture with the chick he's trying to bang. I don't care how hard up you are for P, try a different approach, dude. And that song is downright awful.

* Go ahead and put me down for Sammy Kershaw's Queen of My Double Wide Trailer as my favorite, fwiw.

* Definitely pulling for the Cleveland Guardians this evening, particularly for creating a safe space for all the indigenous folx to publicly support a baseball franchise without fear of micro aggression or suppression.

* Am I the only one who actually looks at these Doomsday Preppers and thinks "hey, that's not a bad idea?"

I mean, let's be honest. There are times when having an underground bunker and getting completely off grid for a day or two at a time actually sounds really pleasant.

* Book recs?

* Where you at? What'chu haulin?

Starting 5:
Wheeler
Wallace
Livingston
Toppin
Oscar

Reeves
Fredrick
Collins
Ware

-Book that ^

-My lineup would be Wheeler, Reeves, Fredrick, Toppin, Oscar.

-The Houston, Buffalo, interlocking UK is maddening. Just lazy. Flagship, my ass. Local High Schools have more original logos than UK. Our Marketing people are honestly the worst.

-Best Karaoke was still the infamous night in Atlanta for the Duke game. Live band karaoke turned into the craziest night in crew history. In fact, both of the craziest nights if you include Nagasaki.

-That Ain't My Truck - Rhett Akins

-We had some great times at Phoenix Hill. When PH, Have a Nice Day, BAR, and Blue Martini were rocking that corner was hard to beat. Throw in The Brewery around the corner. Derby Week, that place was stupid.

-2nd grade basketball tryouts lasted 2 hours last night. SMH. They all look like baby deer running on ice. I don't think we need 4 Scrimmages, without coaching, to determine draft order. F*cking 9p before we left with a jacked up 7 year old.

-Mountain Lion killed just south of Chicago. They're moving in.

-Reminder WCC wanted Tennessee to win that game. JFC. That's HOF worthy.

-Bye Week is good for all of us.
