HK's Cal take is obviously extreme, BUT...

With this roster, he could do some things differently and try new stuff. In years past, I understood the simplification of the game plan, basically one style of offense and defense and zero inbounds plays or sets of any kind. I mean, these guys are still learning how to stretch properly!

But this roster is very experienced, we should be seeing some wrinkles that some of the past teams didn't have the luxury to implement. It's early, but I'm not holding my breath.

FTR, I still like the team and give him credit for assembling it, just have concerns about maximizing the roster talent with his approach.

Not sure this is a Cal wrinkle or merely a read/react play....

but!! In the 2nd half against Albany, Wheeler and Grady did some neato 2-man dribble/replace circular action in the right corner. Nothing fancy, but the movement forced the D to chase -- and it quickly led to a wide open 3 for Grady. It was awesome. I'd pull it up but it was on SECN+ and it's not saved on my YouTube TV library.

Wasn't even sure if it was Wheeler (might have been TyTy?) but it simple basketball that led to an easy shot.

With that said, Grady needs to be involved in more of that action, tbh. Can't be a statue over there just waiting for kickouts. He's too good and is too important for our arc this season.

It was Wheeler, and it was beautiful (as was the TyTy wing penetration which found Grady wide open for once)

But, Grady was no more open on the Wheeler one than several other times during the game...he just let it fly & knew he was going to before he even caught the ball. Guy can get his shot off unchanged w/ a defender right in front of him, no problem. Watching him shoot is just a thing of beauty.

At Davidson, he was a legit scorer, and not just a 3pt or Catch and Shoot guy. It's there, he's just really easing into it...

The KSR article had some good quotes from him. I appreciate his team-first attitude, but at some point, he's gonna have to be a bit more selfish.

“I think part of that is finding my role as one of the guys, but not the guy like I was accustomed to for four years,” Grady said after the game about hesitating on some looks. “I think I have probably been conservative in picking my spots a little bit and letting the game come to me, which I think is a good thing. But I think there are sometimes where I could try to be more aggressive.”

“I’m supposed to make shots and score the ball,” Grady said after the game. “(Calipari) doesn’t convolute my head with eight different things for me to do. (Against) Ohio I did an admittedly poor job at finding a way to make an impact when Ohio’s game plan was to shield me from getting good looks.”

Absolutely love the dude -- I have little doubt he will flip that switch at some point -- just selfishly wish it was RIGHT NOW.

Missed the game as I was driving 10 hours to Dallas to spend Thanksgiving with the in laws. Sounds shitty. I feel for all of you who had to endure that agony. I definitely would not have traded places with you and suffered through the game.

With a shortened roster Allen missed all 5 of his 3s? Ouch on not taking advantage.

My dad's long time girlfriend has been in the hospital so when I get a message mid trip to call him I just knew something bad was up. He tells me the doctors gave her a couple months. In my 43 years on this planet I have never heard him sound so soul crushed. Going to be a tough holiday season.

Pete Townsend, musical genius. LOL

(hey, I like Pete but that might be the dumbest f*cking thing I've ever read. And of the people that regularly post here, I can guarantee you that I know more music theory than all but maybe 3 or 4 people, tops) And I'm only tossing the 3 or 4 in there, on the off chance that one of these guys actually has a music composition degree, and we just don't know it.

oh hell -
l
it’s not easy or normal ....

Love'em or not, The Grateful Dead were badass musicians.

I'll always be an Allman Brothers Band Stan.

BlueOyster Cult had as much, or more, influence on rock and roll as any group out there.

Steely Dan is fundamentally great, but their music is mediocre.

The Stones are the greatest rock band of all time, partially due to longevity, but mainly due to incredible precision fundamentally, and great music for listening too.

hahah - then i said other things to 80

Wyvern and Clown -- you old f***s. You both are awesome posters who bring a lot to this thread. But when anyone posts repeatedly back-to-back-to-back, it screws with the flow of GYERO.

Please take a break to go play with your pet monkey and/or hit someone with a cueball and let things proceed naturally. TIA.

Wyvern posting back to back screws with the flow? I'd argue it's his incoherent stream of consciousness and odd formatting that makes my head hurt to read it.

Yeah, I've been an Allen truther for a while and he's allowed to have poor shooting games...he did do a couple nice things but this was an opportunity to make a case for more minutes and he went 0 for 5 and threw one of the worst lobs in program history.

We may never see him again.

Allen permanently has this scared look on his face like he was abused as a child. I think it pisses Cal off. I've already written him off unfortunately.

Burying Allen on the bench was completely inexcusable last year, and completely understandable this year. For his sake, I hate that he decided to come back.

But several times this season he’ll come off the bench and give us a much needed spark.

(first post in several hours. just a quick one and I'll head back to my TIME OUT area)

Wyvern,

Let's split for awhile. I've got a frisbee and half a lid in my car. We can come back later.

Going to take both girls to a game at rupp before new year - anyone have info on tickets for a non marquee game”?

Saw two Blackhawks flying fairly low over the house last week - the military grade choppers are always impressive and instantly a different sound from commercial choppers

Funny how my momma is 86 - dealing with alzheimer’s issues probably weighs 85# ...yet me and my older brothers still have to have clandestine huddles to plot and plan on what we’re throwing away i her house ....

The Weekend & Roosevelt are two newer bands i’ve gleaned from my daughters - check em out

With the state football final fours all set - am i correct i’m thinking that those games are all at commonwealth now ?

looking at maxprep didn’t help -

and i received conflicting responses from two waterheads that i happen to be related to

Oregano is overrated- smells a LOT like pencil lead / shavings too ....

Daughter made snickerdoodles and they’re DAMN NICE —didn’t know cream of tartar was used there

* Dr Steckler is a good dude, and he and his wife are huge UK fans. Great commercial.

I'll still take a 350-pounder riding a tractor over that, though.

Speaking of which.......HUBER, you need to have like 3-4 offensive lineman race those things thru your parking lot. I'll let you have that idea for free.

* Banner weekend for ole dad.....

- flew back home to New Orleans and had a few appointments. picked up 2 new fairly lucrative clients.
- produced/timed a race at a private airport which donated $10,000 to a charity that gave rides to needy medical patients. have a friend who flies out of there, and he owns so many planes he wouldn't even tell me how many he's got. took me up for about an hour spin around southeast louisiana in a 2-seater single prop. fun as hell.
- we all know insurance people are scoundrels, but i filed a claim after hurricane ida because marcus.....and miraculously got enough to put a brand new roof on the house, with enough left over to do so major tree cutting as well. you're in good hands with allstate, imho.

* Kinda curious WTF Vegas knows.

abh --> what is "your guy" saying about this UofL line?

(just want to know so I can do the oppo)

* Scott Rolen doesn't "feel" like a Hall of Famer, but I'll be damned if he wasn't one of the premier 3rd baseman for 10-15 years, a position which is drastically underrepresented in Cooperstown.

* There should be a standard form in business where clients sign to allow you to forge their signature in completely inconsequential/trivial matters.

dear mr pti, we're nearly wrapped up on this group's installation and ready to go live , but it turns out that when your client signed the welcome letter they forgot to dot an i. we're going to resend an entirely new package that we need signed by close of business today k thanks.

* Anyone wanna get a pilot's license and buy a small plane? Seems fun.

* Books are starting to stack up:

Fear And Loathing On The Campaign Trail '72 -Hunter S Thompson
The Guide -Peter Heller
The Cold Millions -Jess Walter

* Catching up on all the crime/trial dramas:

- I'll give you Kyle Rittenhouse, but if these 3 fat redneck losers that killed Ahmaud Arbery walk free, I'm gonna join BLM and start rioting. For real.
- Never really gave AF about the Gabby Petito case
- Zac Stacy was released on $10,000. What a crock of s***.
- Mathboy = death penalty.

* I'm okay with calling out KSR/Matt Jones over this (and to be fair, MOST media outlets do the same) --> reporting that Mark Stoops "has been contacted about the LSU job."

I mean, yeah. Of course he has. It's a small circle of people in that industry, so having a "third party reach out" doesn't mean jack shit. I suppose they're just reporting the news, and yes that's a fact, but it never ceases to amaze me how that turns into something meaningful in the fans eyes.

Until an actual offer is being considered, or a meeting takes place to advance the discussion, that's just attention grabbing clickbait.

* There's an absolute hierarchy now that we never expected with COVID:

1> those who are double vaxxed AND boosted -- practically saving the world from itself and ascending to heaven right on the spot
2> those who are only vaxxed but not boosted
3> those who aren't vaxxed and are all qanon conspiracy theorists and crazy rightwing trump supporting racists

Gonna be interesting to see how these camps shake out in the future, especially as the #1s begin to turn against the #2s.

PTI - If you're not interested in "captaining' an aircraft (using a plane for actual business/transportaion), but just want to get up there occasionally for fun, you should get your Sport License. You're limited on the top speed of the aircraft you can fly, you can only take one person up with you, and your range is limited to (I think) 100 nautical miles. It has to be VFR (can't fly by instruments)

But, it'll save you 60 or 70 percent on lessons, you don't have to go to a flight surgeon and pass an FAA physical (more on that in a minute) You just have to get the required hours in, and have a valid and unrestricted drivers license (corrected vision, unless it's severe is no problem.

To follow up on the flight physical. They are not a slam dunk. And they access your entire medical history. So, let's say for example, your Mom stuck you on Ritalin in the second grade, you're done.

And here is what sucks. If you take and fail a flight physical, you're no longer eligible for a Sport license. In perpetuity...

You and a few friends could get your licenses, buy a sport aircraft and share the hangar /fuel fees etc. for a pretty reasonable amount.

LEX has some sport aircraft that can be rented, but it's expensive, and you have to reserve MONTHS in advance.

My buddy is 59 and is definitely a baller, but it's not like he's filthy rich. Just a very brilliant engineer about like anth's bff/neighbor. I'd put him on par with most of GYERO (except for bradyjames, of course). He owns at least 4 planes that I saw on Saturday, and evidently several more -- but most of them are ones he's built/redone himself. So despite owning a fleet of aircraft, he's by no means some super rich guy. Strangely enough, the two cars I've seen him drive are an old Corolla and an even older Ford Ranger. Pretty obvious where his $$$ goes.

All the same.....he's been flying for > 40 years and routinely hops in one is his planes and goes to Glacier/Montana to play in the mountains for a few weeks. Man, what a life. I'm sure it's fun as hell to actually pilot, but also the freedom to get across the country in 5-6 hours is pretty nice as well.

I wouldn't go up in the air in anything that I had a fvcking hand in building. True Story.

anthony - Go big, and invest in a Bryant HVAC corporate 8 seater, and get PTI to tool you around in it. Win Win
