I seriously doubt any of you all are old enough to remember when that teenager flew a small private plane into Soviet airspace in 1987, made it all the way to Red Square and landed near there.

Mathias Rust. Anyway, I was working that day and intercepted/copied all of the air traffic. A lot of high level Soviet air defense officials lost their jobs because of that stunt. They just had a hell of a time trying to find him, and the few helis that did, mistook him for a friendly (which is stupid if they could see the tail number)

Anyway, it made the world news shortly after, and it was cool to have been involved (even though it was as an intelligence operation) Yours truly submitted the official transcript and analysis to NSA. It was kind of a big deal, because it highlighted potential holes in their air defense. I don't know if it's declassified yet (probably is) but I might FOIA request a copy.

There is nothing funny about a jackass purposely trying to run down citizens with an SUV, but I'm going to confess when one report said that the first group hit was the "Dancing Grannies" I fought to suppress a laugh.

God have mercy on my soul.

I don’t know who Tommy Lloyd is, but he has Arizona looking solid. Nothing elite really but tall at every position and some good wing/guard play.

I'm still reeling from Wyvern's story. LOL

Did you go to DLI?

I was a 30833C, Czech/Slovak cryptologic linguist, Monterey 1985, Goodfellow in San Angelo for half of '86 and then Augsburg until 12/89

I know this going to be hard for some you to believe, but the Clown had the highest clearance available Top Secret/SCI

The FBI went and interviewed my friends, my neighbors, teachers, former employers, for like 8 months. It freaked some of them out. They thought I was being charged with something.

i had an intel type supervisor at Yokota - he went through Kelly AFB -

were you an operations type and maintaining/managing cryptos (KG84’s?) ....and SIPR net stuff ?

Or were you more field oriented for extracting/collecting info - like a linguist or flight operations related (recanissance crew for EC130s, OC/Looking Glass/NAOC?

do you think you and i could generate a small scale private investigation /PSYOPS type business?

Do you still have compartmentalized clearance?

i THINK you mentioned leaving AD i’m the 80/90s?

Did you get your shoe back?

Hells no ...they didn’t match anyway - one was gold-black vs the red-white one i launched — seriously dude ...it arched high and gracefully like a PAT 20–25 yards deep

i didn’t want any chance of japanese police walking up on that railway exit area - i had been at the wrong/place/time/attitude with (officially) - 2 other ARIs. (alcohol related incidents) and my section commander had me in AA and “mental health/social actions” - didn’t want to add to that steamy hot /slutty ****pie

Shorts:

- Don’t know how any UNC fan could be confident about the Hubert Davis hire and that was before seeing how soft they’ve played this year. Same with Duke and Scheyer but at least he’s recruiting like a MFer.

- Very surprised to see Louisville favored. Usually that’s not good news for the dog. Still, I’m pretty confident we steal their soul on the ground. But hold onto the ball - PLEASE.

- Going to have a helluva time explaining to my Dad how to stream the game tonight.

- Pete Davidson is basically just this generation’s Wilmer Valderama.

- You know I never had much for Oreos besides when dipping into milk but I had some this weekend and was quite taken. I may have underestimated the classic cookie.

- 🙄 at our own fans’ mental gymnastics pooh-poohing Stoops to make themselves feel better about staying here. He’s a helluva coach and certainly could win at a bigger job. Hope he doesn’t get to make that decision.

- Probably the second best week of the year all things considered - after the beginning of March Madness. Relaxing. Good food and drink. Family. Friends. Outstanding sports slate.

How soft was that game against a top 3 team that was a slugfest for 40 minutes? Your bias is showing instead of being a college basketball. They outrebounded a more physical team, and countered every blow until the last 3 minutes.

I would say it wasn't a good feeling for UK fans of late watching Purdue, Zags, UCLA, Nova, Duke, and a few others knowing #9 isn't happening....again.

Dispatches...

- College basketball should be starting today.

- HAVING SAID THAT, the early-season slate of games has been about as strong as I can recall in previous years. Could be recency bias, could be the fact that we have fans back in the stands, but there are a ton of intriguing subplots, some really strong experienced teams, and nicely-balanced tournaments. I'm still enough of a traditionalist to wish that the season started a few weeks later, because it still gets a bit lost in the CFB playoff chase, but it's fine, it's all fine.

- Being a two-point dog is EXACTLY what Stoops & Co. needed. Cats by 12.

- The Vegas shooter is the modern-day story that in 10-20 years, will have the most conspiracies floating about.

- Nobody cares about Michigansucka, but it would be a much more fun narrative if the Wolverines somehow pull off the upset over tOSU this weekend. With Texas, USC, being down recently, most of the great CFB rivalries have lost a bit of luster over the past few years. It would be good if this one delivered.

- Tommy Lloyd is a great example of a top assistant waiting for just the right time/school to make the jump. He'll have Arizona in a Final Four within three years. He won't land five-stars from California, but he'll mine the transfer portal and the international scene well enough to make up for it.

- I've never had my wife's Christmas gift bought this early. Feeling better about this gift than I have about any gift since the power washer.

Can you finally do the world a favor and swallow the business end of a shotgun please.

thanks.

Bengals > Packers
There is nothing more entertaining than someone being restrained, getting pulled away from a fight, convincing everyone they’ve calmed down and walking away, and slipping away to run right back into the fight.

it’s vaguely close to a useable metaphor showing how the interwar period played out in europe between approx 1919 and 1939.... [laughing]

- welcome back, waterhead wayne.

- how long did UK use "Right Here, Right Now" as the basketball intro and when did it stop? The end of the Tubby era? I definitely didn't just jam to that in my office and get a little sad that I don't have the same connection to the team as I did when that song opened every game at Rupp.

- The Bowden UofL beatdown is my favorite victory over Floyd Street in Stoops' tenure, bar none. I would like to win on Saturday by about 27 bigguns, but I'll take any kind of W.

- Has any man in history managed to remain in a good or even neutral mood while hanging photos on the wall with his lass in the same room? I'm going no, but maybe there's a saint in GYERO.
