Making Senators elected by popular vote was certainly a bad move. Prior to that, when they acted as advocates for the states, it was in the best interest of the state governments to send the best and brightest to the Senate so they could actually get what they wanted. That wasn't always the case, but it's sure better than having two houses with people beholden entirely to popularity contests

We can please fng stop with white upper middle class professionals promoting their trade on social media with trendy, stupid ass phrases like they’re a celebrity or athelete?

“ WHEN THE SQUAD IS HUNGRY WE DO THIS...”

“GETTING MY HUSTLE ON TO MAKE THE IMPOSSIBLE BECOME POSSIBLE.”

“MONDAY MOTIVATION. RISE N GRIND.”

Enough already.

As incredibly bright as the Founding Fathers were, they apparently did not expect career politicians.

Our Constitution has so many brilliant safeguards / checks against power, yet they failed to include term limits. Or maybe some tried to include them and were defeated.

I suspect term limits were not discussed because no one imagined these clowns making $175,000+ per year. Every legislator, state and federal, should be a part-time position with modest pay.

And also early favorite for all-time UK parent HOF

“Let’s all get on the same page how Mama feels about school: Mama wants James to go to school and be happy,” she said. “Mama don’t play basketball. Mama won’t have to go to class. Mama is the supporter. As far as James’ college right now, James has put Memphis on his list, but James hasn’t decided on a school.”

Same dudes who belong to nondenominational Christian superchurches iirc.

Also hoping that people stop choosing a political "team" and rooting for them to "win" no matter what.

Funny you say that. I was thinking that someone could really cash in on Team Republican and Team Democrat shirts. The ones with snide comments about the other would sell incredibly well, IMO
Currently reading "American Oligarchy". A friend just read a similar book "Secret Empires" and basically gave me a play-by-play.

Bottom line, even more disgusted with our system than I used to be. The politicians have made it all about self-dealing and unethical BS, not to mention the lobbyists, insiders and political-media complex.

They're all part of the problem, at every level, federal, state and local. F them all. It seriously makes me consider never voting again for anyone, unless / until

a) they pass term limits;
b) Congress has to live by the laws they impose on everyone else; and
c) they clean up the dirty lobbyist / PAC game.

Even just the first two changes would go light years toward fixing the current problems.

Fat chance of any of those. So, basically never.

I’m no politiball, but I’ve been saying since it happened that Citizen’s United is possibly the worst Supreme Court decision in history. An absolutely shameful decision.

Dred Scott and Homer Plessy disagree.

I mean Dred Scott was pretty bad...

Diallo was going to lose almost all his minutes to Johnson. Probably a good call unless he wanted to be an international joke and play basketball at Kentucky as an upperclassman.

-consumerism is bad.

-capitalism has created more freedom/quality of life than any other ism. Its staggering that relatively smart folks decry the evils of capitalism...often whilst pointing to socialism as an answer. It's like the last century didn't happen in their minds. Venezuela is happening right now for Christ's sake. A dash of socialism is one thing...ss, Medicare, medicade and such. Anything beyond that is suicidal.

-before some jagoff brings up Finland or some such: Finland has fewer people than metro-Atlana and is generally homogeneous.

-education: its cultural. The us spends more than anyone else per student. Funding isn't the problem.

Tired of Rudd constantly pushing his bullshit in here.

I see right through you, homey.
