Guarantee MJ dm’d him like: Upman! My sincerest apologies! As you know, in the basketball business, a lot of misinformation is spread. Would like to come on my show and clear things up for the BBN? TIA!

-Ok, lets get this back on the rails.

-One thing it appears Cal is set on is not missing on one of these late reclass guys like he did with Bagley. Assume that's why he's hanging around Maxey and Carney.

-Ready to get a nice little taste of spring over the next 3 days.

-Finally found TJ Walker's show in that obscure corner of the world wide web. It's much better than that Bennett dude on 1080 but still sounds like they're taping it on an iphone.

-So... sounds like we're back to square one with the big 3. Gimme 2 preferably Peej.

All 3 should come back.

But man, PJ and Vanderbilt would really benefit from another year and could greatly improve their NBA stock.

I love Gabriel and hope he comes back, but I don't think he will ever be an NBA player. I'm not sure any additional time in college will change that.

That being said... stay, Wenyen. Get your degree. Reach your ceiling basketball-wise and get the best professional offer you can get. Enjoy college. Put that big old weiner to use on sorority row. Take a free trip to the Bahamas. Do they even have Popeye's Chicken in Astana, Kazakhstan?

All 3 should come back.

So should Diallo, but he won't. None of those guys are projected first rounders.

While I fully expect to lose 2 of those 4, I do think Cal is probably trying to sell them on returning, like he did with Knox.

Number of top 8 players returned (re: minutes per game)

2015: 6

2016: 1

2017: 2

2018: 1

If PJ, Gabriel & Vanderbilt all come back, that number for 2019 will be 5.

Add that to the class coming in, considering how the pieces fit, and we're looking at what could be the best team in the country.

That'll do.

I thought I'd never see a UK player more maligned than Skal but Richards passed him and we get to enjoy it for another year. Hopefully he makes some sort of leap.

The international model sounds like the way to go honestly. So easy. Hundreds of thousands of dollars over there for every mediocre US college player.

Thats not even counting what they make on their autograph tour.

-Richards is going to be fine. He's a monster of a human who's 5 years into learning how to play basketball. You same people would be throwing a fit if he made the poor decision to leave. Any program in the country would love to have that guy waiting in the wings & developing.

-Crazy week. My Dad went in for a Hearth Cath Monday in Madisonville, thinking he may need a stint after a recent visit and some future pains...ends up being rushed to Baptist East in Louisville for emergency open heart surgery, 8 bypasses. I mean, wtf  -- I've never even heard of that, nor has anyone else I've spoken to. He's your typical unhappily married/old/given-up guy with a way-too-big beer belly, but not some 300lb slob. Was a walking time bomb, and obviously extremely lucky. Dr. said one of the more unique cases he's seen in 40 years.

15 hours in a waiting room later, he's now in recovery...going to be a long road -- another 5 days minimum at the hopsital, then off work for at least a month. Not sure I've ever been more exhausted in my life.

-SGA is a really funny guy, great interview with Jones today. One of the saddest parts about our current culture is not getting to know some of these guys personalities all that much.

-Thanks in advance for making GYERO interesting (please), as I'll be having plenty of phone time over the next week.

My dad basically had the same thing two years ago. Came home from the hospital on Christmas Eve after a week.

Those heart surgeons are miracle workers for sure.

(but a little diet and exercise goes a long way)

I’m sure your dad will be fine, and back to rapping and slaying craft brews in no time.

Best to your pops, BBdK. Went through something similar with my mother several years ago. She was in great shape, then boom--emergency triple bypass surgery, lengthy hospital stay, long recovery. It really shocked everyone in my family.

Glad they caught it in time and got it taken care of. 8 bypasses is crazy.

One of the saddest parts about our current culture is not getting to know some of these guys personalities all that much.

On a related note, another drawback for those of us with younger kids is that it makes it tough to really get them into it when you're having to introduce them to a whole new batch of players every year. The only player my oldest knew at the beginning of the year was Wenyen, and that was solely because he was on the team last season. By the end of the year she knew Wenyen, Knox, Diallo and SGA, which means there's a decent chance that when the season tips off in November, she won't know a soul on the team.

Not an issue with hardcore basketballs, but if you're trying to get an otherwise distracted kid into Kentucky basketball from 400 miles away, it's tough.

Prayers up for your dad, BBdK.

Vanderbilt is the one I want back most, assuming he's not a gaping, wounded puss all next year.

Lab work this morning. Nothing worse than the new girl searching around for the vein after she sticks you and misses. She had to go get someone else to try again.

Down 9 lbs since the challenge started. Not good enough to win a bet.

Digging on Alessia Cara. Great pipes.

-eagles at Rupp last night. Comped seats, 12th row stage left. Not my scene...but enjoyed it. Joe Walsh was the star of the show...70yo and still kicks ass.

-texas was texasy...ate a lot of tacos and cow. Bought a pair of boots.

-life is short. Get paid as soon as you can. Some of these kids are short sighted though.

-****ing reds.

-godspeed to pops, ab.
