I hope 08 can vouch for me on this, but in my line of work, one of the rare things I don't like about it is when parents overstep their boundaries. Why wasn't my kid in the graphic, why didn't you write about my kid, why did you leave my kid off the roster on the program by mistake, etc.

If one of the Ball kids ended up at Centre, putting up with LaVar's crap would turn me into Private Pyle at the end of Full Metal Jacket.

There is no "45 degree" rule in MLB. Huge myth. The rule requires the step and throw to a specific base, for both RH and LH pitchers, or for LH's if the right foot goes back past the rubber (which in this case it did not) However, his natural pitching motion started towards home in this sequence prior to bringing his leg out which ended up well down the "area which umps watch"...you see this often from LH's but this was extreme and should have been called a balk, especially in watching his entire motion. There are many others not near as extreme that are called.

So says GYERO's version of Norm from Cheers. "You know Sammy it's well known that...."

The 45 degrees refers to the mythical line MLB referenced years ago to try and regulate the move to first, stating that going beyond that was deceptive- which didnt ultimately change anything. I'm pretty sure most people know there isnt a protractor involved in any of this.

I think Lavar's great.

Lavar is hilarious, lighten up

Still sticking w/ that hot take, wcc? Forfeiting two games in a row b/c you refuse to leave the court is so funny, that rascal! People need to chill, it's great for the kids/sport!

What a dbag POS.

I'm just tired of hearing about the F'ing guy.

3 episodes in the 2nd season of Last Chance U. Seems to be a little heavier than last season indirectly shining light on the concussion issue with the main running back and also athletes using weed to calm anxiety issues with the Carter kid from Penn St.

The up close camera angles & they use on that show are fantastic in regards to practice and game footage. Makes the game seem even more violent & physical than what I witness on tv or at a college game.

You and catfagbg always run neck and neck for worst post of the day, but you surged ahead with this one.

Yeah, the worst of it here is generally occurring with teams I'm not responsible for, but there's always something. The funny thing is, 99% of the time, the kid doesn't care.

-Raining and overcast all day, a rare and joyous occasion. So we went and watched Spider-Man which was pretty dang entertaining. Always helps to throw in a good helping of Tony Stark.

Pedicures are finishing up now. Living in Kentucky I'd never had one. Probably had about 20 now.

-I still love movies, but heard an interesting point the other day about how these superbly produced and long running series are hurting movies. There's so much more time for character development and investment as a fan in these tv productions.

-Cubs quietly surging ahead with a 2.5 game lead.

-You don't really want to do the SW card right now. Best to time that one for 1st Qtr. Go to million mile secrets, nerd wallet, points guy and do a little research. You do understand that you're not just going to sign up for 2-3 cards and voila you earned an all expense paid trip to Hawaii, right? Unless you're very organized I'd suggest just getting on a few good point earning cards (Saphire, AMEX SPG, Inc) and starting there. Maybe pay for a 1/4 of the trip or something like that.

Thanks.

I looked all night and even set up a visit with a travel agency.

Best I could find was all inclusive $1899 a piece for 4 people in Maui but we still had to fly to San Francisco and back home afterward. The round trip to San Fran was $580 a piece and if the points paid for some if not all of that then it would be worth it.

All that said, this is not a guaranteed trip next year just a request from the wife with just ASAP noted at the end. So I'm just doing the leg work on the real cost and liklihood.

Possible that you should follow Dave Ramsey's advice and stick with cash.

I can't book the trip for you but coming up with $1200 in miles should be fairly easy over a years time and being new to the game.

I read this about 10 minutes ago and in that time found a 3/3 condo on the beach and round trip flights From Louisville for $6700. On Maui.

If you watch the airline cards, the signup point bonus fluctuate. Grab one that has like 50-60k. Both of you get one. There's like two round trip airline tickets.

I like the Capitol One venture card too. Get double points on everything. I use it for purchases that aren't bonused by sapphire. The catch is you can only redeem double points for travel purposes. But if you put the trip on the card, you can erase airline/hotel costs with points. If you both get one, there's $1000 off the trip just in bonus points.

Yes I can find cheaper, but I know better and if I'm going to Hawaii cheap probably isn't best. Over heard a few people admit they spent close to 12K and it is the best trip they ever took.

My problem is my family is childish picky about food so going there not really knowing what to spend and where makes all inclusive very apealling. And $1899 was a Hyatt Regency resort which is a safe name to the condo.

This makes sense, and if the $1000 spent that earns the 40K in pts could be on anything and not airline flights then I could easily do that a month on groceries and gas. But if it was flights then I couldn't do it.......I am going to feel like shit for everyone around my kids the whole flight so we usually drive everywhere.

PTI, normally I'd agree with you about the timeshare thing, but my parents did well with theirs and helped all 3 of their kids with anniversary, honeymoon and 1 wedding get away. Also grouped with my aunts and got the whole family to Northern California for my cousins wedding. Not to mention several vacations for themselves, friends and family through the years.

I went to Hawaii in 2000 after my first year of teaching.

1. The maternal side of my childhood best friend's family all live in Hawaii.
2. His grandmother and grandfather had passed away about a year earlier so we had a free place to stay.
3. All I had to pay for was my discounted plane ticket. My buddy bought both of our plane tickets because he got more "points" that way.
4. I was single so I had my own money. Why not, right?
5. Lots of food and alcohol provided by his aunts and uncles. Very cool people.
6. Jack in the Box is their "American" fast food of choice.

Follow ^that^ protocol, krazy and your golden.

No, krazykats. Your parents did not do well with a timeshare. Just because they "had" a timeshare didn't mean they "did well" with a timeshare.

I hear you. I'd call the resort and see what kind of packages they have though. Reality is that you probably will eat dinner out 2-3 nights and a luau. So you'll be paying for those missed ones if you do all inclusive.

-G likes the First Four statues and in particular the Wilbur Hackett one. Just runs around saying, "Wilbur Hackett." Very random, indeed.

-Bob joined the Sonicare bandwagon. One of my favorite electronics in recent years. Expensive but well worth it.

-During the annual once over the doc goes into this long passionate spiel about how sugars are the worst. This dude is typically pretty reserved and straight forward. So he insisted I buy this book and start to slowly eliminate refined sugars. Seems like a growing movement and it's the current big offender for all bad things. Just strange coming from this guy. Anyway, reading it currently and trying to pull back on my sweet tooth that is probably a bit out of hand.

I'm f*cking keep booze though.

Timeshares are great, when you use someone else's.

Shout out to Jeongwen Chiang aka "The Duke". Statistics professor back in college. Guy couldn't spreak English really well, but he was the man. Sounded like the guy from Gung Ho. Got banned from the riverboat casinos. Drank like a fish. Wore a pocket protector. Told terrible jokes. Cheers!

Pumped for The Eli this weekend. Have only played 1 full round this season, so 3 rounds in 3 days will be fun! My 9 hole golf game is on point though.

Baseball season is over!!! Thank goodness. Worn out. I mean, I wish we were in the World Series, but it's also nice to breathe again. 100+ games across all 3 kids.

05 is at Camp Middle School today for his new school. Crazy....little man is in middle school. Wife was really sad dropping him off. But he was super excited and we're happy for him. Getting so big so fast.

I'm ready for football, but I'll enjoy the 3-4 week buildup to the season. Catch my breath from baseball. Learn about the new players, teams, fantasy options. Be primed come kickoff time!

- Really excited about AJ Rose. Dude is a brick shithouse and moves laterally better than he should for someone his size. He really impressed me in the Spring Game. I imagine he'll be a fantastic spell for Snell (ha) for that all purpose yardage. Crucial we get King more touches in the flats, tho. He could be a real weapon on 3rd & intermediate downs as a check down option.

- My wife is into GOT more than I am, I think. Talking about getting the books now. GTFO w/ that talk.

- Big thanks to Bryant for the same day replacement of our upstairs AC unit. Older unit that had to go... just struggling to catch up to the high 90 degree afternoons. Those techs work in some hot, miserable ass conditions. Props.

- Down 15 lbs in 3 weeks. Saw a huge ass number on the scale I had never seen before. No thanks. Joined a gym across the street from our office and started going during lunch and eating less portions and less shit. Amazing combo, I know. Want to get under 2 bills before my October trip to Japan. I definitely won't be gaining any over there, walking around all/air, eating fish and sweating my ass off in their 80 degree office buildings.

- Southern Caribbean cruise in November. Fly into San Juan. Port of calls include St. Maarten, St Kitts, Antigua, St Lucia, & Barbados. Legggo.

Flossing down the block, holla at my boys up in the third
Got the latest word, swerve to the side of the curb
A fiend that wanted me to serve him, I said bitch can't tell I'm off?
But I still gave him five dollars to wipe my white walls

I'm glad JLo is losing weight, but I dont' want to see a documentary or "project" about it. The t-shirt stuff was bad enough. Stoops should just give him a coaching position.

Is that insensitive?
