GOLF thread

Concession was fun to watch the pros play, but damn, it reminded me all too painfully how much I hate (a) Jack Nicklaus courses and (b) contrived Florida courses with long forced carries over water, tons of OB on all sides, deep bunkers, etc. Don't know why the average Joe would want to join and play a course like that day in and day out.

2 of my favs....love Jack's courses and beach/Florida golf in general.

As they say, that is why Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors. My guess is that you must be a lot better than me.

I like Fazio courses, and most of Art Hills as well, more open, more room to play off the tee, just more fun in general for regular players.

By any chance, have you ever played Camp Creek in the Panhandle? Best course I ever played in Florida. A real gem.

I am definitely not better than you....I just enjoy scenic courses that requires a variety of shots, especially around the greens. I may have a Tates Creek game, but if I am going to spend my $$ then I want to enjoy what I am looking at...lol.

I have not played that course, although I have heard about it from the pro at Kelly Plantation in Destin, who lives near there in PC.

Pawley's and Long Bay in Myrtle Beach are two of my fav Jack courses to play.

I just recently returned from Daytona....played LPGA International that has 2 courses by Arthur Hills and Rees Jones....both excellent and different.

If you could choose 1 golf course anywhere in the world to play and all cost would be covered for you where would you play? It would be a hard choice between Augusta or The Old Course at St Andrews. Ultimately I think St Andrews would win out just because it's the birthplace of golf.

Augusta. Honestly, 2nd choice might be Cypress Point.

Although I would love to play the great old courses in Scotland, I am not familiar enough with them to pick one of them over the ones I know a lot more about here in America. Gun to my head, probably Carnoustie, that and Muirfield are supposed to be the hardest on the British Rota + I would like to play 18 with just a 7 iron to see if I could beat Van de Velde's effort there.

Homa is awesome.

This is why I love Meadowbrook and go back a couple times a year. Grew up playing it and learned the game there. cool video.

Haven’t played Hidden Cove at Grayson Lake in a few years but absolutely love that course.

Augusta and it’s not close. Pebble Beach is a bucket list trip but it’s public so comes down to me just doing it. Part of the mystique of Augusta is just how hard it is to get to play it.

Kapalua, East Lake, or Shadow Creek.

2 of those you can get on.

I would go to Pebble. It's my favorite course. It just looks fantastic and fun. Next would be Augusta. I ama 16 handicap and I think I could actually score ok (90ish) there from the 6500 member tees. It would be a lot of fun.

Some were talking Myrtle Beach above. I am in a group going for 5 days in May. We are playing Dunes, Caledonia, True Blue, and Legends Heritage. Really looking forward to True Blue and Caledonia. Anyone played these courses?

I have played Kap....can get on East Lake w/ a friend, and you can play Shadow Creek if you fork out the $$ and get lucky with an MGM concierge. These are the 3 I would choose, per the question.

I have played all of the above except for Heritage, but all of the Legends courses get high ratings. Caledonia is just wonderful, and True Blue is a brute. Dunes is a notch above the others as it will feel more like a tour caliber course. That is a great list....looking forward to the review when you return.

I wonder how hard it is for players to have to play alone. Speith is today since Rose withdrew after the 4th hole.

Man, I’m looking pretty for a free Champions round and another round of equal value.
Maybe we will play a threesome and let @sinker16 buy us dinner and drinks.

Whether it’s this week or not it’s inevitable boys.

Name your 3 favorite golfers of all time:

Thankfully stumbled a bit coming in, but this is definitely not what I expected when I dove in. Still it's hard to win out there and it's anybody's bet

If you lose you get the honor of paying for my round as I beat you on the course. That’s a story to tell the grand children.

Bryson DeChambeau[roll] unfreak’n believable drives on #6! Wish there were more PGA courses with holes like this. They played AC/DC‘s Thunderstruck while showing the replay. :)

Augusta, St Andrews and Pebble Beach.

Westwoods t-shot on the 18th goes in a divot. I really wish they would change the rule where you can move the ball out of the divot. If you hit it in the fairway you should be able to hit off grass. JMO.

I think it is a terrible rule. Suppose the golf course is in perfect shape and a player in the second twosome on Thursday hits into the divot of a player from the first twosome. He loses the tournament to the player in the first twosome by one stroke and the divot got him a bogey on hole 1 on Thursday. Crazy example but what if?
Should get a free drop for Pete's sake, it is a man made object.
