Pitino is relative to UK because he coaches our #1 rival. I believe we've been over this in this thread.

Plenty of mediocre people get overpaid at their job. I have no issue with Memphis paying Tubby big money. He is a shell of his former self and has had no real success (NCAA Tourney wise) since 2005. He did well at Tulsa and UGA pre-UK, and did some very good things here, including an amazing title run in 98, but he has not done much since. He should be able to coach as long as someone will pay him money to do so. It's not Tubby's fault on that front.
Tubby will be in the HOF.

I like Tubby but his time was up at UK. Ten years at a school like Kentucky is an eternity. Even his staunchest admirers would have to agree. And, while I didn't read all of the above posts, I'd add that we took grief for him leaving for two main reasons: one, we are the king of the hill. Tennessee football is a big thing - in Tennessee. It's not a national program so no one outside of the state's borders cares what they did with Fulmer. Two, the haters have labeled us racists so choosing to believe Tubby was wronged fits the narrative. Interestingly enough, we are likely one of the few power five schools to have hired black coaches in both revenue sports. Seems that doesn't get much airtime.
It doesnt matter if he is at a rival, you see more threads about Tom Crean and your not their defending him either, we do not play IU. Same goes for Sean Miller, lot of posts saying ber sucks but your not defending him.

I guess the theory here is that there is some program somewhere in the entire world that doesn't know that Tubby is not a good recruiter - - and that it's up to our cadre of geniuses on the UK board to teach them about something they already know. Please tell me that's true.
After watching that video on the original post I got depressed. What happened to him? Tubby literally has no fire in his belly at all. He wasn't like that when he came to UK. He was like that when he left. He just seems content to ride out his last days of coaching wherever somebody will hire him and keep adding to his retirement plan.

I don't hate Tubby. I hate those that said we should've never gotten rid of Tubby and we were racist and those that said we shouldn't run him off instead we should erect a statue of him. Tubby has done great in life...his teams, not so much.

The criticism of Tubby is warranted and it wasn't necessarily driven by hate or personal dislike - just vindication. He did not recruit at the level required to stay a top 5 program consistently. He refused to make adjustments with his staff to help recruiting. He got fat, lazy and content during the end of his UK career and started running the program into the ground. Then us fans were unfairly labeled as racist by the Tubby Super Friends and national media for wanting a change. It become a race issue instead of a results issue.
Those fans deserve vindication and should be allowed an "I told you so" when Tubby is exposed for what he is - a good coach, who is a bad/lazy recruiter who is living off is time at UK.
