I didn't say anyone wasn't entitled to their opinions. I'm also smart enough to know the difference between someone stating their opinion about a man and someone attacking and trashing a man.

Let me preface this post with the fact that I am not opposed and never have been opposed to putting Tubby's jersey in the rafters for 1998, he earned that. That being said, he brought a lot of this on himself. When you are getting paid millions and then run arguably the best college basketball program into the ground then, leave like he did, a lot of people are not going to like him for it. Compound that with the rest of the college basketball world blaming the fans because of a dishonest media and you will have Tubby post for a long time to come especially when he is still making millions and not producing. All UK coaches are scrutinized to a certain degree after they are gone. Admittedly some more than others but, it was earned.

Regardless where any former UK coach leaves to go coach, retire, etc, they will always be scrutinized. Tubby and Pitino just naturally are going to get the most scrutiny, whether any of their apologists like it or not.
Pitino is a scumbag of a human being, there's no debating that. The fact he resurrected UK basketball when we were almost in the gutter will always be looked upon with gratitude for most every UK fan. The fact he eventually ended up at our hated rival is inexcusable to the same fan base, but he DID bring us back to elite status.

Gillispie? He will always be hated by this fan base, and for very, very good reason.

Tubby? As has been stated millions of times: he took the premier program in the country and drove it into the ground. You're welcome to disagree, but we were NOT a major player with any of the elite recruits, year in and and out. Thus the reason we fell to "average", and at UK "average" never cuts the mustard.

He REFUSED to recruit the elite athletes. He BAILED, WITHOUT SAYING AS MUCH AS GOODBYE TO THE PLAYERS HE RECRUITED, THE PLAYERS ON HIS UK TEAM.

Classy? I think not, not even close.

I do NOT hate the man personally, but I do hate what he did to my beloved program.

We will continue to monitor him and his career, as he did coach here. He's fair game. Deal with it.

The hatred for Pitino is much more vitriolic than it is for Tubby.
Most concede that Tubby is a great guy who was not the coach the media try to portray him to be. I don't see or hear praises for Kevin Ollie who has the exact same number of titles. The problem is that the media made sweeping statements about UK fans and painted us as horrible because we wanted more than what we were getting. Each article that has come out since he left gives us a we told you so. Hence the number of articles that get posts

There are some on both sides of the issue who want to keep reliving the "great Tubby debate". Ironically enough, some who scream the loudest that they want it to end are the most active participants whenever the topic arises.

Truthfully, I have no issue with him in the Rafters. I actually think UK missed an opportunity while he was at Tech. They could have brought him in for a game, had the ceremony (and then taken their butt kicking, lol). With him being at Memphis, so chance of that happening.

Honestly, if anyone thinks he belongs in the HOF should have their head examined (and trust me, there are a few already in that are utterly non deserving). He's in no way a hall of fame coach
