I love hummus, but it's hard to find pre-made that is any good. I've thought about just making my own.

Any chance you can find Ithaca Hummus near you? We get it cause Ithaca is only a few hours away.. but it's damn good. They have a beet hummus and a pickle hummus that are legit.

If not hummus, anything that's worth dipping in. Bolt House farms makes a very good Greek yogurt Blue cheese that's like half the calories of traditional blue cheese.

All the exercise in the world doesn't matter if you don't eat well. I try and find my health hacks in the kitchen.

Like any drug, they affect people differently and with Oz/Mojo, most people only hear what they want to hear, “magic weight loss shot” and not what lifestyle changes you need to make in order to avoid harmful side effects. Any blanket pharmaceutical prescription is already going to be a red flag, as it doesn’t look at the overall health and well-being of an individual. But when there’s shareholders to placate, details are conveniently overlooked. See the jab for recent examples of mass marketing and uniform diagnosis, regardless of age, comorbidities, health, etc.

There’s tons of info out there, easy to find with a quick Google. Here’s one from this month -> FDA said the medication will now include a warning about potential intestinal blockage and suicidal tendencies. And with how in the pocket the FDA is of Big Pharma, has to be serious if they’re going to scrub any speed off that cash cow.

Also several doctors on this board, who I know IRL have emphatically said to avoid, as they’ve seen patients worse than what that article suggests and foresee impending lawsuits.

I’d say just about all the podcastsphere are grifting along.

Goggins is about the only one that I think truly believes what he is preaching.

But yeah, Peterson is a joke and his book was terrible.

I had a friend that tried to quit smoking by dosing on NyQuil for 2 weeks. He took fvcking VACATION to do it. LOL

True story.

Some of the best advice my Dad gave me on smoking cigs:

"You can try any drug you want.. well almost any.. Most of them are recreational, and your mom and I tried most of them. We will never care if you smoke marijuana, just use it safely. But if I ever catch you smoking cigarettes, I'll put you through a wall."
 
I lift (heavy for me) 3 days a week, run 3-4 miles 3 days per week and try to walk 2-3 miles most days.

I ran 4 miles with my 8 year old today with his running club. I’m slow AF compared to these little kids. But I cut a minute per mile off by trying to keep up with them.

That's a more fair criticism. My biggest issue with him is his stance on adhd.

Goggins is a ****ing maniac.
 
I’ve been a complete POS the last 6 months and need to drop 20. I’ve never really lifted weights and was always just ran for exercise. I’m wanting to focus more on strength. Should I take creatine even if I’m trying to drop bad weight, or should I cut the weight first and start focusing more on strength training?

IMO, I wouldnt worry about creatine at the moment. Just get in the gym. Supplements are exactly that: supplemental. As in, they aren't the primary focus. Figure out what works for your schedule with the gym, but step #1 is just getting TO the gym.
 
I'm morbidly obese. Should I; stop eating enough per day to feed an entire family and start exercising, OR, go to my doctor and see if I have a thyroid condition?

Hey all.. I lost a leg due to diabetes.. should I try for a marathon, or stop eating theater-sized candy bars?

Maybe I wasn't clear, but that wasn't at all the question I asked.

"Just the peptide semiglutide or Ozempic/Mounjaro? The former is fine if the person takes diet and exercise seriously. Even if not as regimented, still better than the two pharmaceuticals. Tho I wouldn’t recommend someone start if they didn’t take the other stuff serious.

The problem with the later is all the other junk added to the peptide that causes negative side-effects [think those commercials with a litany of “may cause”]…If the person isn’t disciplined in those two areas, they should get off that stuff yesterday."

And that payment is, normally, hard work in the gym and eating. Why do I get the feeling that Ozempic users will have ass cancer in two years?

Doesn’t Ozempic make you not want to eat, so it solves 90% of the reason why people get fat (too much eating).

But what is it doing to make you not want to eat? What sort of body chemistry is it alternating to accomplish this? I don't know, maybe it's not a big deal.. but even generic painkillers like ibuprofen and acetaminophen have side effects.

Who said Ozempic - or any other drug for that matter - has no side effects? Every drug, every single one, whether prescription or over-the-counter, has potential side effects. The issue is whether or not the risks are outweighed by the benefits.

I compare it to the COVID shot. If you are 80 years old, the COVID shot is worth it. Likewise, if you are 285 and obese and have failed diet and exercise, the O shot is probably the way to go.

Isn’t it melting away bone and muscle? So you may lose weight, which certainly can help with some issues, but you’re also more likely to fall and break a hip?

-Thinking of switching to chucks or maybe nobulls. I have cheap, colorful Chinese shoes from Amazon I workout in and I take them off to do heavy squats/Deads. Just don’t enjoy spending money on shoes.

These Mfers that have 84 pairs of Jordans they workout in 🤦‍♂️ I’m like you have 10K in effing shoes that do nothing but devalue and they’re solely to put on social, I never got that. Way to get caught up in dumb shit.

The most name brand thing I wear is gd Fabletics that are 70% anytime I buy them. Hate wearing anything that has a brand all over it. 95% of my fear gym or not has no branding on it, I’m not your billboard. YOU HEAR ME GYMSHARK!!?!?!?

-Hot yoga killed me in a good way yesterday. 102 in there and almost blacked out at one point after standing too fast haha, just sat down for a second and the fuzzy feeling went away.

Damn I needed and missed that though. If you’ve never done it, I highly recommend it. Especially if you’re getting older or have mobility issues that keep you from lifting. It gives me a day off from lifting, which I struggle with and stretching which I just don’t do basically without paying someone to make me.

Your HR has to be through the roof as well. I’m going to take my AccuroFit next time and monitor it.

I drive an hour to work. I got here at 6 this morning. I am in Central Time Zone.

I don't claim to be normal. I have an odd schedule. It helps with some things.

Next week it will be 1:45 when I got up. As I age my desire to sleep in gets less and less. There are two older guys in their '70s (72 and 79) who are on the trail before me, or when I'm there almost every morning. They walk 1 mi and then sit for about 30 minutes. Then they walk back home. This morning with it being rainy, I did not expect to see them but they showed up.

As to shoes, I have Asics and Brooks. I prefer Brooks. I have Brooks Ghost 15x that are goretex. No more blood blisters from running in the rain. Brooks adrenaline on dryer days.

I don’t “sleep in” either but daggone. Sleeping in for me on sat/sun is 6a.

I can’t imagine driving an hour to work, that’s not okay to me personally. I had a friend in Miami and she drove 4 hours a day. 2 to work, 2 back home and she lived and worked in Miami, the traffic is just that shitty.

She said oh you get used to it. I said no, no, nope, that’s not okay to get used to that. Spending 1/6 of your day in the car just getting to and fro work is BS. No way. I’ll be riding my bike to work unless it’s raining. Hell, that’s part of why I moved here. I can walk/bike to basically anything.
 
@Bonzo Cat @anthonys735 or anyone, do you measure out your food? And if you do, do you weigh protein out before or after cooking?

I have friends that do every meal, like down to the exact amount of almonds they can eat. Given, some of these people are competing but most are not, just want to be shreddy freddy. Just seems like a lot to me.

I did measure my food out for a week while doing carnivore, ate the same 3 meals every week and extrapolated it.

Right now I’m just trying to gain back the weight I lost before leaving KY so I don’t really care but in a couple weeks I’m going to hit that Cardarine and I’ll probably need a better idea of cals.
 
I worry that some of you will burnout with some paralysis by analysis trying to Huberman Optimize your workouts and diets. I'm exhausted just reading it all 😆 .
-Huberman is a hard listen. It has to be a very specific subject for me to make it through 30+ minutes with him. Way too monotone and dull. That said, I love the optimization stuff, keeps it interesting and trying new little things. I'm an absolute sucker for fads and gadgets. I guess if you're going from couch to cold plunge and sunning your taint... yeah. I think most of those guys(Attia, Lugavere, Destefano, Hubberman) have the right message though.. they post it all the time. #1 is diet. #2 is simple exercise. I could link dozens of their post saying just that.

-I guess the cynics are always going to come out. Taken years, like basically 2 decades, for me to finally get a grip on the social life, workout, diet, health balance. Countless fads, crash diets, work out programs, toe shoes, etc. Still tipping a little too far towards bourbon/chocolate but I can at least identify the issue and I'm in pretty good health. I have a much better handle on overall diet. It's hard to understand/accept it's an everyday, and really every meal, commitment for the rest of your life.

-Cold plunge is next. 😁 Just have to figure out which one will fit in my basement and won't make a damn mess. Hopefully right next to the sauna. Hot -> Cold -> Hot -> Cold. Hotel in California had one sitting at 34 degrees. It sucks getting in but that feeling when you get out is hard to describe.

-I use a food scale often. More when I'm in trim down mode.

-Worship early workouts but can't imagine waking up daily at 3am. Good for you but that makes me tired af.

-Goal for the next 6-8 months. Hammer this mobility stuff and bottom out around 12-14% BF next June. Sitting around 17% right now. That's down from probably 25% at my all time high.

-We covered ozempic/moujoro/semaglutide/tirzepaptide in that thread. Don't know what's in the blends but I don't trust the pharmaceutical companies with stuff like that. Law suits are already firing up so I guess we'll know soon enough. For morbid obesity, sure, side effects are probably worth it. For soccer mom/dads that need to drop 10-40, yet continue to hammer sausage gravy for breakfast, and 0 resistance/cardio training? Not so much. Malnourishment doesn't seem like a good way to approach things. It's been my understanding that's where most of the issues (hair loss, bone denisty, muscle lose, gastrointestinal) come from.
